GYERO: Gator Hater Edition

-Downton Abbey has been pretty good so far. Would really like to see Lady Mary get some kind of comeuppance and soon. You could argue that Matthew's death was just that, but she hasn't changed since. Favorite show on the tele, though. Not sure it's even close.
- Lady Mary can get pumped. I know it's the 1920s or whatever, but that dame is way overhyped. Makes me cringe when she's on screen... but not as bad as that art dealer that tried to have some of Lord Grantham's Kool-Aid. That guy should be in the next Bond or Batman movie playing the bad guy. he's that creepy.

- Gotta feel for Edith, but her whole deal has been making terrible choices. Really hope her arc ends in her disposing of Mary and taking her rightful place as Lady Grantham.

- who cares about Batesmurdersubplotsucka?

-UF game was a great time. Snuck down to the WWH area and watched the Cats break their huddle before coming out at half.

UF fans were AWFUL. After being pretty cordial the last couple years when they beat us, it was crazy how everything was different this year. Think they really thought they had a shot at beating us (they did) and it got to them.

One guy walking down the street said the usual, "Go back to Lexington!" I replied in live in Key West now, but thanks. His response, "So you're a fag?"

They were rowdy after the game so we got off campus and went downtown to stay out of trouble. Had a great time after that.

-It's laughable too that ESPN is touting his 95% grad rate after having reported on their academic scandal that spanned basically the majority of his career. Pretty sure any coach ever could pull of 90% or better if your players don't have to go to class or do school work.

Just wondering how men wearing brightly colored skinny jeans that are 3 inches too short with dress shoes that appear 6 sizes too big became a thing.

I'll tell you who can go get pumped, Florida, that's who.
At the final four last year, I bought tickets from a Flor fan, 9 rows off the court, after they lost. Apparently the section was Flor administrators and such. The assist AD sat directly in front of me . I've never seen so much hate for UK and the state of ky, by all the Flor fans. F@ck Flor.

-Sybil > Rose > Cora > Mary > Edith

-Hope old Isis perks up.

-The Bates murder plot is wearing me out, but I think his character has gotten far too much run as it is. Dude just sucks. Lord Grantham should have sacked his ass seasons ago.

-The Heir Hitler references are indeed eerie.

-Also eerie is the reality that these "people" would all have been dead for many, many years by now. This, of course, leads to me hoping there's a spinoff down the line where some shithead Grantham is the sole heir of the estate in modern times. Just a smug little English bitch who lives his life through the warped reality of that world... living at present day Downton, personal staff, etc. Could be dope.

So would you guys like to see IU in the 8/9 in our region, no ,don't want to see it, not worried who's in that game in our region?

Tulips are popping up and the country roads are full of dead skunks. Spring is definitely upon us.

Isis is gonna wind up being pregnant, birth a litter of direwolves, and everyone will get a pup. Edith's will be white, and will accompany her on her journey to the Wall. Lord Grantham will be forced to kill Mary's pup after it attacks Tony Gillingham during the season finale cricket tournament at Pip's Corner.

I would rather not have IU as our 8/9. Nor would I like to see Louisville as our 4 again.

Tell you what, not an episode goes by where I don't wish I could sit at the staff's table and sip tea and smoke cigarettes. Have a few laughs with Mr. Mosely. Perhaps skip down to the village pub after hours and sing old English drinking songs. Kick some commoner's ass and then it's back to the Abbey for morning duties.

Could be unreal.

Indiana/Texas 8/9

Notre Dame/West Virginia 4/5

Wisconsin/Louisville 2/3

That's a helluva line for a song. You should send it to the owners of Sturgill Simpson's label and management group since I assume you know them. How cool would it be for someone in GYERO to have a writing credit?

I don't know the owners of his label or management group, but I do know Sturgill.

CBB Thoughts:

- Out of the 8/9s on Lunardi's line, I'd rather avoid Texas/Michigan State. He has us playing Oklahoma State/Xavier which would be fine by me. In fact, the entire bracket right now is fine:

2- Kansas
3- UNC
4- ND
5- Wichita State
6- Providence

- Does anyone think Russell is good enough to carry Ohio State to something? They're a 7 right now, but that dude just keeps getting better and better.

- Louisville/Cleveland/Indy isn't bad at all. Hell, Cleveland is a four-hour jaunt up 71 from Cincy.

- I'll call my F4 darkhorse right now-> Oklahoma. Kruger, as PTI pointed out a couple weeks back, is a damn good coach. I could see the Sooners making some shit happen as a 4/5.

- For legit contenders, Duke (adjD- 48) and Wisconsin (74) sure have some suspect defenses. Then you have "fun" teams like Iowa State (101) and Notre Dame (158) who are frickin sieves.

-I would rather see him pop up in the modern day as an overpaid defensive coordinator at a shitty city college keeping people from prison long enough to win a bowl game

-Loop 22 on Saturday evening prior to the UK game. Went Fried Green Tomatoes for the appetizer. Best I've had in a while. Then again, the best part is the dipping sauce. I had a Loop Burger and my wife had a Brusssel Sprout salad and chicken sandwich. Food was decent. Not sure what SAE sees in the atmosphere. Pretty bland IMO.

Speaking of the staff's table- those "lowly" servants are eating hot meals and kicking back on a table that runs easy five figures today. That whole downstairs area is like a Pottery Barn/Williams Sonoma snuff film, really.

My favorite trash talking story involves Scott Skiles. When he was at Michigan State, he was lighting up Georgetown once and actually asked John Thompson, "If you're such a great defensive coach, why can't you put anyone out here who can guard me?" I'm sure that sat well. Thompson probably made the token white guy at the end of his bench run suicides for 30 minutes at practice the next day.

You are a moron. Learn tournament ticket purchasing.

-Love OU as well. Hield gets all the pub, but I love Spangler's game. Eduardo Najera 2.0, but with more tats. And that transfer they got from Houston can go off at anytime. Really like OU as a sleeper in March.

-Rick Barnes being Rick Barnes.

-Michael Avery currently averaging 2.5 ppg for Sonoma State. Vinny Zollo 4 PPG for Cleveland State.

-Jason King's "Kings Court" is the best column in CBB, but seems like he hasn't been putting it out consistently this season. Drives me crazy. Great format, mixes in some non-hoops stuff, but I need that every mid-week. Pull it together, JK.

-Also miss the old ESPN "All-Access" hoops shows. Their football version is still great, but they've completely dropped the basketball version altogether. The closest you can find on TV these days is that CBS "Men of March" series, which is okay, but other than seeing coaches' houses/vehicles, it doesn't offer all that much.

Was weird that Johnny Dawkins bikes to campus every day. That's Palo Alto for you though, I guess.

-"Mud" and "Philomena"....two solid, under-the-radar movies I've watched during recovery.

-Gonna be hard shifting back to office life after working from home for a few weeks. Sweats every day, saving money on gas/lunch, not having to deal with co-workers, listening to sports radio all day. Already scheming for a way to do this full-time.

-"The Slap".

Learn Titus.

But I agree- and it also pisses me off.

-Grew weary of Titus after reading his book. Really liked it, but for me, he's best in smaller doses. Started following him on Twitter again recently, so he's back in my rotation.

Another good weekly read....Richard Deitsch's weekly sports media column for SI. Good stuff this week on Raf replacing Greg Anthony on the Final Four broadcast.

-Thanks Sloot. January was a nightmare. Feeling better every day.

Don't think there's an apt emoticon for this in the Rivals system.

Grief.

Well, t.Harris was two rows behind me, so I had to be doing something correct.

Always liked Larry Bird and this is my favorite play of his. Basically, shoots a college 3, follows his shot, rebounds and finger rolls it in with the left hand.

Bird

Had this Larry Legend poster in my room as a kid growing up. (couldn't find a better image)

"It makes me sick when I see a guy just watch it go out of bounds"

Think I got it from one of Billy D's basketball camps in Lexington when he was assistant or something. Don't really remember but I loved it -- even though it was Converse.

By the way my new #1 hummus, and by a very wide margin, is this. I will keep you guys posted with any changes.

It has always kind of blown my mind that a guy who looks like this is one of the all-time greatest basketball players in the world.

main-qimg-523731d7df9ac5fe726167a2c2d17b48

Seriously, take a f*cking look at that guy.

Bird wouldnt even be able to get a shot off against most NBA defenses of today.

False. Sure the players today are generally bigger and more athletic but those Celtics teams were the original bad boys and he thrived when the league was made up of tough ass sons of bitches who guarded with all kinds of physical play.

Get out of here with that nonsense. He was 6'9".

Ha...had that exact same one, and it was my favorite poster of all time. Got mine at GRC's Basketball Camp. Always wanted to find another copy of it one day to decorate a basement or something.
