GYERO: Gator Hater Edition

Not quite.

Said I'm extremely nervous we get clipped (especially if we go in undefeated), and if we did, I think it would be in the S16/E8, and not the Final 4.

We get to Indy, we're winning.

I have a deep fear of March also, and have the same "vision" of us losing but not until the Elite 8.

I think it's the nature of being undefeated, which is uncharted waters for most all of us. Heavy is the crown sort of thing. In 2012 it all seemed so inevitable, and really the same for 1996. Somehow this doesn't feel the same for whatever reason. Again, probably just the undefeated stuff messing with our heads.

^ exactly.

Not sure what it is, but I get that "nervous feeling" anytime I hear brackets being discussed, and start 'thinking ahead'.

Touch it, I've pushed my chips in for perfection at this point...marcus, I think the team and Cal has even though they would never say so publicly.

But, I hate this Lyles thing. We should be fine tuning for the postseason at this point, it sucks having him out and the rotations being all weird.

Would like to see Dakari have himself a game tonight, give the big fella a little confidence boost.
*I'm with you on the perfection thing. Cal wants it bad, and he should. He may never get another chance like this.

*I'd also love to see Dakari have a big game tonight, but I have a hard time seeing it. With Mickey and Martin bouncing around, I'm not sure he'll be able to get a shot off. Mickey may block a couple of Dakari's shots with his armpit.

You're a damn mess every March, doggie. Sure NOW it feels like it was inevitable and maybe we were collectively slightly more confident in '96 and '12, but we were coming off BIG droughts both of those years. Jump in the Way Back Machine and I guarantee Dad was having the same nightmares in February '96 and '12.

That team in 2012 needed that loss. They became too lethargic and arrogant in the SEC Tourney. They were flat out steamrolling teams up to that point and thought they were invincible. Remember watching clips of that team's reaction to Selection Sunday at Cal's home and they all looked extremely pissed.

Have a different feeling with this bunch. Can't really describe it or put my finger on it.

It's because our whole life the one or two undefeated teams heading into the tournament got bounced. It makes me nervous too. However, Cal has his teams play their best basketball in March. The only team I worry about is Duke. Since K, made the right move, and kicked the cancer off the team they're rolling now.

If Dakari at any point in this tournament is guarding Okafor some of us/he may suffer from PTSD. You couple that with KAT trying to do too much to prove he is better than Okafor and that's the game that scares the shit out of me.

Duke can't defend us, and we can defend them. They have one post presence, who is a garbage defender, and we have 40 post defenders. I'm honestly not all that worried about Duke.

I'm not really all that worried about anybody. Stop being pussies, boys, we're undefeated, stacked with talent, battle tested and love big games.

The question with this team is have they had that "eureka" moment yet? 2012 had two. One was the game at South Carolina when everybody on the team finally clicked at once, and the other was the regular season finale at Florida when Anthony Davis took his game to the highest level.

These guys haven't had that yet unless you count the game at Bama. Florida was a good game to have to take a KO punch on the road and withstand it, but have we had that moment yet where the world realizes "uh oh - they've got it"? Or at least since Kansas and UCLA?

The Elite Eight game vs. Wisconsin is going to be a hot mess. Doubt I'll be able to watch most of it.

I think they get clipped short of the title. Maybe the UCONN losses have me crossed but I think someone gets them.

I think we will all look back and find a fatal flaw with this team. Could be lack of a standout superstar or something else. Maybe blame will go on the platoon system instead of rolling with 8. I don't know. Just pessimistic about it lately for some reason.

Most of the #WhereisTrey stuff is stupid, but I did get a kick out of this one. Left shark is always good humor...

The things that keeps me confident, despite the fact we've played our best in big games, are undefeated, play historic defense, are so deep we don't have to rely on any one or two guys and have actually transformed outside shooting into a strength, is that Cal's teams play their best ball in March.

UK fans whining about bad luck and inevitable losses in March is such a pussy mentality. We're the most successful college basketball program of all-time. We're undefeated. Take your tampons out, you little bitches.

We are. Every statistic says as much. It especially helps us on D. There's something to be said of fresh legs.

If we're undefeated in March I'm not sure I'll survive. These games are basically torture now because of whole undefeated thing. We actually get a loss out of the way I'll still be miserable in March because I hate sports and what it does to my health and relationships, but to a lesser extent.

I do think if we lose a game in the regular season, the national take on it will be "aw crap, here comes the mudholin'." I don't buy that. Personally, I think if we make it through to the NCAAT undefeated, there's 6 games worth of mudholin' a-comin'.

Elite Eight games are just terrifying. Only a few times in recent history have they not been. I'd put 2012, 1997, 1996, and 1993 as the least worrisome.

2014 - Michigan just kept hitting shots
2012 - Baylor was a pretty easy game, but Davis got hurt and that sucked for a bit
2011 - UNC game was thrilling from beginning to end
2010 -
sick0020.r191677.gif

2005 - Just a crazy crazy crazy ending, and a sick feeling in OT.
2003 - DWade's superstar coming out party and Bogans injury -
sick0002.r191677.gif

1999 - Let's bench the hottest player on the floor!!!!
1998 - Just an awful game to watch for the first 30 minutes.
1997 - Felt pretty good honestly.
1996 - Never a worry
1995 -
sick0021.r191677.gif

1993 - Never a worry
1992 -

Looking back at that list, this team isn't losing before the Elite Eight, if at all. Outside of 2004, most of our "great" and highly seeded teams make the Elite Eight.

So you're saying that the left shark has basically jumped the shark?

2012 EE was a nightmare because UofL already made the Final Four

But if you are talking squarely about the game, then I agree

Get your shit together GYERO. Other than Chase and Chad, you pumpers are feeding my natural tendency toward pessimism. Stop it. I rely on you guys to give me perspective and optimism.

Going into the tourney undefeated is a terrifying proposition. It just is because no one in my life time that has done it has won the whole thing. You go with what you know. I was relieved when the 12 team lost the SEC championship game because taking a 20 something long win streak into the tourney was also terrifying.

I think we are walking into a perfect storm tonight especially if Lyles doesn't play.My gut says we lose.
