-40,000 feet in the air almost to Vegas for a sports card show. As a little kid setting up at the local Flea Market selling $1 cards all they way to the MGM Grand. Find your passion and figure out a way to monetize it.

-The Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge was a cool stop last time. Prolly take a day and go to St. George.

-Have plenty of friends with college degrees/debts that would have been much better served learning a trade. We all make good/bad choices that add up over time.

Man a high end resort on a pretty piece of land somewhere in between Lou-Bardstown-Lex with a small casino and sports book would be absolutely dope. JMO.
Add in a serviceable golf course and its a nice little guys trip destination

Friday Five:

Faith No More- Epic
Audioslave- Show me How to Live
Isbell- Traveling Alone
INXS- Suicide Blonde
U2- Desire

Maybe a little over the top, or maybe he indeed had one hell of a great cat.

It’s indefensible.

He’s been posting something like that every single day for a month with no end in site. I’ve never seen a single friend do that ever even when a HUMAN dies.

I am of the opinion that way more people should learn a trade instead of going to college.

One morning back in the early 90's, I was struggling to stay awake in an 8am History of World Religions class at EKU and I thought to myself, "Why in the hell do I need to be here in order to get an art degree?"

I didn't know what the F I was going to do with an Art Degree at that point, but I didn't see how sitting in a class listening to Alice from Appalachia interrupt the teacher every 5 minutes to let him know that followers of (insert favorite world religion here) were all going to burn in Hell anyway was going to help prepare me for my future.

Although, after about 5 minutes of taking notes, I usually began doodling pictures of what I imagined Alice from Appalachia's boobies looked like under that sweater. So, maybe it did help me hone my craft, after all.

It's almost like the whole trendy "go to trade school and save money ZOMG!" has swung the other way a bit. There seems to be a ton of kids opting for trade school hoping to get into a nice paying job with little to no debt but these trade schools are producing workers that can't do the job.

I've seen two just in the past year. Both kids had great grades and all the certifications a trade school can offer but couldn't perform the most basic parts of the job that was taught the first month in shop class when I was in high school. One of the kids specialized in welding but he can't weld. At all. Great kid but he's terrible and has been let go from everywhere he's tried to work. He is currently working at a nursing home as an aid with his welding degree.

-ive got a beautiful couple hundred acres across from Houston Oaks* on Paris pike in bourbon County. If the cult thing falls through...I'd be open to a greenbrier type joint.**

*that's a nice enough course.

**just need 100 million or so to get started. Get cracking Brady/Krazy/gyero.

Know a guy who lost his cat about a month ago. Not his small child, not his wife, not his parent. His CAT. And every single day since, his social has been a treat.

We are so grateful to have had the chance to be your not-so-furry parents. Each day spent with you was a blessing. We selfishly wish you were here with us. We are so grateful to Heavenly Father that you did not appear to suffer, that you were not alone on the day you passed away, and that the last person hold you was your momma on the day you left this earth. We count these as tender mercies from the Lord. The pain of your absence is swallowed up in the joy you brought us with your love and affection. We loved seeing you run in your little jungle. We know that you run now without pain and without restriction. Your parting shocked us, and we miss you so much, sweet baby girl. Thank you for teaching us how precious each day is. Each one with you was most precious. We love you. #

Literally every. Single. Day. For a month. Normal, right?
Is your friend Jon Arbuckle because if so then I get it.

It's been a long time but Houston Oaks was a goat ranch last I played there. Think we need to aim a little higher, rudd. I'm sorry.

-no apology needed. shows you what I know...been 20 years since I played it. We'll just have Krazy/ brady/gyero buy the mf'er and rehab it as part of the deal...or just build a course on the property, just need another 15 mil or so. No biggie.

- Just talked my nephew out of trade school. While I understand it’s a quicker path to good money and less debt, at the age of 18 not many are mature and prepared enough to pretend to be adults. A lot of kids need to not just get a school education, but a life education and learn from being around other broke kids that have no damn clue what to do or how to do it.

If a kid handles school like they should, at 22 they can graduate and then have partying etc behind them and still do a trade.

Win/Win

- Go Cubs Go

- Left a meeting where I was convinced to do an Armanac finish. Never wanted to push so many finishes, but when people request it you kind of have to adjust some.

- I can’t imagine not watching the F4 whether UK makes it not.

F4–> Masters—>NBA Playoffs—> NFL Draft

April is quietly a fantastic month of sport!

- Just found out about Zach Bryan

F5

1- Oklahoma City
2- Something in the Orange
3- 68’ Fastback
4- Heading South
5- Tishomingo

The Tulsa violinist either needs to a) be better at violin or b) find a new job. It should have nothing to do with what his daughter does, unless he's forcing her to follow his path. The plumber and HVAC guy I use (sorry, Bryant) work non-stop. Nights, weekends, whenever. They make ridiculous money, but have little to no down time. Depends on what's important to you. Pretty sure it's somewhere between Oklahoma violinist and 24 hr on call plumber.

Tradesmen work hard but it's not always crazy hours. HVAC guys have to go hard for about 2-3 months. 50-60 hours per week. Rest of the year it's normal hours. Our plumbers and electricians have very normal schedules. On avg our folks are 45ish hours per week for a full year. Which, considering they can turn work off when they clock out, is much less than a lot of white collar jobs.

So you're nephew isn't "adult" enough to go to trade school and then get a solid steady job.....but he can handle the pressures of being swallowed up by a freshman year in college, with no guarantee of what is to follow?

This statement is beyond stupid: A lot of kids need to not just get a school education, but a life education and learn from being around other broke kids that have no damn clue what to do or how to do it.

Good luck to your nephew...he's gonna need it w/ these words of wisdom.

That's the best part of the trades, imo. Obviously it doesn't apply to blue collar business owners.

I've got a buddy who recently closed his solo practice to take a job with the state. He's as relaxed as I've ever seen him and when he's off the clock, he's completely off. I'm pretty jealous of that part of his gig (and probably only that part.)

I'm sure Krazy knows what his nephew is capable of and has a bit more insight into what the best decision may be considering he, ya know, is his guardian. He could be wrong, but any advice you give could turn out wrong.

As Krazy correctly pointed out, there's always trade school later if it doesn't work out.

I’m in a good enough mood that I’ll pay attention to your lame ass today.

My nephew is already co-oping at UPS and has an offer from them to pay 100% of his tuition and board as he is a 4.0 GPA with four of his basics already out of the way.

That said I guess at 18 your dumbass knew everything that was coming and was prepared to deal with and mature enough to handle all that life piles on. I’d offer to bet otherwise, but not only are you a dumbass to speak on anything about my nephew, you are too coward to make a bet as I’ve offered plenty.

Anyway, as I was saying, he is mature enough to handle what he is guided toward but not prepared to take on everything that college life will baby step him with as far as responsibilities, learning from bad decisions that will help him make better decisions in time, time management, how to think for himself, how to decide if paying this water bill is best or if going out for drinks and possible sex is best.

He has some partying to get out of his system as most of us did as well so yes what I stated previously is exactly what most 18YO’s need to figure, hence life experience!

Plus he’s getting paid a damn good hourly salary + the best p/t benefits out there. That’s in addition to getting tuition paid for.

-jeez, what a cvnt. Hateful.

-like most things, there is no one size fits all solution.

-The "college experience" is worthwhile if one can afford it...regardless of whatever career you end up in.

trade school ignorance knows no bounds

Assuming this was meant for me, but it isn’t about the trade school per se, as much as it is the apprenticeship.

So what my nephew was considering was based on a connection I have and scheduled him to meet the owner of an electric company in town. I told my buddy to not sugar coat or sell the idea of trade school but to give the kid the truth.

And here’s the truth, going to school and doing an apprenticeship means it doesn’t matter if it’s raining at 5am when it’s time to work, you better show up and not be a damn p*ssy about it. Doesn’t matter if he drank too much the night before, or if he is upset a girl he likes hooked up with someone else because he is being responsible to stay in while she went out……….and now your also in the rain and mud running lines!

You show up and you work! Not ready for that at 18? No problem, most aren’t even though it pays $30 an hour and in 5 years you can make $80 an hour.

Now go be a kid, and have fun at school where if you mess up too bad there is always next semester!

Hell some adults aren’t responsible enough for that life much less 18YO kids.

As much as life is about enjoying, and appreciating the simple things, I believe it is also about trying to find healthy balances and boundaries in our lives, and in personal relationships with others. I have also found, in my life, that the only things that fill voids in our lives are love and truth, which can be felt, found, and attained if our desires are pure, and we are humble enough to accept that what we “know” might not be right.
