GOLF thread

Never thought this would happen with Monahan and Norman at the top. Someone please check on Bradel Chamblee.

Wow. Apparently none of the underlings had a whiff of this. Wife is saying their office stopped and they're all finding this out as we are.

Saudi made a big investment as well. So now everyone that said the LIV tour was garbage because of Saudi money has to admit that they hate all men's golf tours now. LPGA is there new thing I guess???

That is def a curveball nobody saw coming.

Not really...many predicted this would never go to court. What is yet to be determined is will there still be PGAT /DP requirements for being members of their organizations in order to play their events, or will there be a unified set of rules and guidelines to include LIV. I would guess each will still have their own number of qualifying tourney's they have to play to remain eligible on the PGAT/DP tours w/ some overlap w/ LIV.

Sooo will the LIV people still have their insane contracts? Is everyone under one roof or can a person that didn’t defect go to LIV now or will there just be a big pay disparity in favor of those that defected to LIV?

These are the key quotes by Monahan...it verifies the PGAT will still have their own set of guidelines that players will abide by.

Monahan called the reinstatement of PGA Tour members who had defected to the LIV Golf League a "complicated endeavor and one that will be guided by established PGA Tour rules and regulations."

The three tours said they will work "cooperatively and in good faith to establish a fair and objective process for any players who desire to re-apply for membership with the PGA Tour or DP World Tour following the completion of the 2023 season."

Monahan is getting dragged, and rightfully so.

The players not knowing anything until the announcement is fascinating. Always take your money on the front end if you can, I guess.

Nothing changed, same old PGA Tour, per UKO. Basically a non story!!! Lmao

The LIV guys "made their bed, and now are suffering the consequences" (per UKO 173x on Twitter)

Or not. 🤡

Not per the loyal Tour players you rightfully defended so hard over the last 2 years.

They will all win in the end. But LIV didn’t lose shit lmao. PGA was already slow copying the model and backtracking on previous declarations…and eventually gave in and conceded LIV had to be Dealt with.

Complete and total denial to say or think otherwise, which is par for your course. The clown show you’ve mocked incessantly & daily, and rightly so, has changed the landscape of professional golf forever. That’s indisputable.

***I hate LIV, for reference. Thought, and think, it’s a complete joke. But here we are.

Monahan is likely toast but in the end probably a smart deal/move for pga tour and golf going forward.

He definitely isn't toast...he just made the entire tour a shit ton of money and killed LIV at the same time. Once the players see the reward$, they will calm down.

How so? 🤔

Your beloved Tour just sold out and literally made a LIV Saudi CHAIRMAN of the new joint entity 🤣

I mean, the full sit down on CNBC is available to watch bub.

Aside from that, yeah, nothing has changed. There will still be the RBC Heritage, indeed! 🤡

You should brief the loyal Tour players, seems they need Mark to lay it all out, as they only found out when you did. Rory & Tiger included apparently. Lmao.

You never have an actual take, on ANYTHING, bc you lack actual intelligence. Snide, condescending, and contrarian remarks is literally your entire repertoire.

It’s quite adorable, yet pathetic. You’re a very scary psychopath.

He absolutely made the Tour a bunch of money. Lol.

Against ALL OF YOUR (fake) MORAL CONCERNS you’ve been crying about as recent as this week.

Big Jay fan now? Lmao. Yes, he secured the bag. BIG TIME. Just like the LIV guys did.

“Killed LIV” lol. By joining them and conceding, and LITERALLY walking back every single thing he’s said about it from Day 1, in secrecy from his “player led tour”. What a guy!

You’re such a clown. Your hypocrisy knows no bounds 🙂

It stopped the litigation. But, he just betrayed the Tour members and they're grabbing pitchforks.

Apparently even Jay's executive team had no idea about this. Someone high up leaked to Twitter before the staff even found out.

Best understanding is the Tour stays mostly as-is for now which is run the non-profit, charity and running the Tour torurnies.

The Saudies and the Tour will now have a for-profit league. The Tour will run it and the Saudis fund it.

So in simple terms, how will it work? Will it be something like you play within your tour, but are given X exemptions to play in one of the other 2 tours each year?

The players that stayed and didn't take the LIV money should be a little upset to say the least.

I would assume they will get paid, whether through appearance fees, PIP money, or some straight out arbitrated number based on their worth.

Curious as to how money was paid to LIV guys. All up front? If LIV folds do they get all their money? Did everyone get all their money?
