LIV golfers who meet previous qualification standards for the Masters will be eligible for the year's first major tournament in 2023.

The event released a statement Tuesday explaining its position:

"Regrettably, recent actions have divided men's professional golf by diminishing the virtues of the game and the meaningful legacies of those who built it. Although we are disappointed in these developments, our focus is to honor the tradition of bringing together a preeminent field of golfers this coming April.

"Therefore, as invitations are sent this week, we will invite those eligible under our current criteria to compete in the 2023 Masters Tournament. As we have said in the past, we look at every aspect of the Tournament each year, and any modifications or changes to invitation criteria for future Tournaments will be announced in April."

It was the right thing to do. I mentioned earlier, if they don't get OWGR points for their tournaments, they will go away. Only 7-10 of the golfers are worthy and most have their exemptions. Koepka, DJ, Smith, Bryson.

Only hope for the Niemans of the world are to finish top 5 or, obviously, win.

As those older guys fade into sunset, what do you do to replace them and justify getting better points, if any? They better hope they show up in majors when they get the opportunity to show they deserve points.

Nah, they have their criteria and are sticking to it. As I said, if they don't get results in majors, they will fade away.

Easy way out. Being a private entity they can do what they want and when they want. And given the excellent state of the PGAT WITHOUT the LIV bozos, Augusta would be just fine as well. They definitely don't need DJ, Brooks and Bryson to stay relevant.

They caved and didn't want to rock the boat. Nothing more. All this did was put a giant star on Norman's chest and he will wear it boldly.

Augusta usually does whatever the F they want because they can and most times get it right. Don't agree with their decision but at the same time get why they did it. It always comes down to money. That is why they made the decision. They know more eyeballs will watch because there will be an incredible amount of hype from the media with the PGA vs LIV guys going into it. You can bet a lot of PGA folks will be on the edge of their seats praying a LIV guy does not win it.

Can't argue with them, past champions for sure deserve to go to the Masters been that way since the tournament started.

Sunday, January 8: 4-6 p.m. ET (NBC); 6-8 p.m. ET (Golf Channel)

Can we assess Morikawa a 5 stroke penalty so this thing would be worth watching. I like him but I'm not all that interested in watching him run away with it. Especially since I forgot the Capitals game was blacked out.

Golf is hard and 72 holes is a grind....and when the bogeyman gets in your head it can be disaster.

Morikawa had a 9 shot lead with 17 holes to go over Rahm. Lost by 2. What a turn around. Thats a couple blown leads by him and you would think that will linger.

Yeah, that is going to cause some scar tissue for Colin. He choked. Not much else to say about it.

Recently been trying out some of Martin Borgmeier tips for more speed and distance. Too old now to go all out like he and other younger guys can but I did increase my ball speed almost 10mph in a few sessions. I was also surprised how better my ball striking was. Even the wilder shots were not as bad as ones I have when I have a more static or controlled swing.

Just pull up his YouTube page. Has tons of content on it. He is not saying anything drastically different than other long hitters say but I just like his energy and the simplicity in how he explains it. In my mid 40's now but stay fit (stretch almost every day, deep tissue massage, Chiro work, etc) so it allows me to turn up the HP a bit when doing it, but I am sore as heck the next day. Depending on what your age and conditioning is, its not something I would do often. For now, I am doing it 2-3 times a week pending how I feel. Recommend the SuperSpeed sticks to train with.

Here is a recent video he did with another Youtube coach that came up in my feed. Good stuff

That big guy Martin is a funny guy. He is on a bunch of other YT channels as a guest and has his own. Like most long drivers he is not a great player, but he has a good attitude. Bryson DeChambeau has him on his channel quite a bit.
The two training aids that we use with the team are the Momentus iron and the Orange Whip. They both are invaluable tools in training the two most important parts of the swing. We also use a three pound dumbell, a 40 pound bag of sand, and a 20 pound medicine ball. With those simple things you go the feeling of the swing down, and you get your fitness in at the same time.

Watching Golf Subpar on YouTube, they were interviewing JT Poston. His caddy is Aaron Flener. I vaguely remember him writing for KSR. Does anyone else remember him? Also, great singer.
