GOLF thread

Shew

Rory McIlroy is calling for the ouster of LIV Golf commissioner Greg Norman as a condition of LIV and the PGA Tour working together moving forward.

"There's a few things that I would like to see on the LIV side that needs to happen," McIlroy told reporters. "I think Greg needs to go. I think he just needs to exit stage left. He's made his mark, but I think now is the right time to sort of say, 'Look, you've got this thing off the ground, but no one is going to talk unless there's an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences.'"

Norman about to find out how unimportant he is at this point. Good. He's far too toxic for any negotiations.

Have felt from the beginning that all parties would eventually come to the table for various reasons but Norman is not the guy who could make that happen because he is universally despised by most of the movers and shakers of the golf world. I think all tours can exist together but not sure LIV has a viable argument to get the same amount of World Rankings points as the other tours do unless they agree to some things.

Another win by a Barbasol alum - Adam Svennson who finished 6th at Champions this summer, congrats on his first win. Our tournament is at least showcasing some good young up and comers, which is what it is intended to be.

Yep...great stuff. He was pretty emotional and now gets to play for the big bucks which gets rolling in Maui in just 6 weeks.

Personally, the money is great and all, but looked like players and fans both were freezing their a$$ off at Sea Island.

Doing Arcadia Bluffs in June finally

Late March doing Pine Needles, Mid Pines, and a couple others down in that area

Knowing you're going to finish last and probably not finish 72 holes = bad foot.

He should have just said he is continuing to work towards 2023 and leave it at that. Not a good look.

What is everyone's favorite shot from the fringe (say 3'-10' off the green), I realize the lie and pin position ect determines your choice, but you must have a favorite, one you feel most comfortable with?
-putt
-basic chip
-flop
-bump-n-run

For me it is bump n run.
I'm a good putter, except from the fringe. Solid chipper, and capable w/ the flop. But I most confident in that bump n run unless conditions say I should use another shot.

Can imagine the golf and Nike powers that be are praying Charlie ends up being a really good player.

Well, Tiger is back this week for his tournament The Hero World Challenge. TaylorMade Driver, Nike Irons, Bridgestone golf ball, Scotty Putter apparently, new sponsor Monster Energy bag.

Hopeful for a decent week and by decent i mean no yips and playing 4 healthy rounds.

6 years later.....ouch.

I know I am about a year late on this but I just found it. There is a documentary on Peacock called Cracking the Code about the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla. It's pretty good so far.

Tiger can still play some serious golf but that right leg is on borrowed time. Just can’t see him ever being relevant again on the tournament scene unless he can ride a cart which I know he will never allow himself to do.

Tiger is now officially a novelty and that is sad...not the way he was supposed to go out. He may somehow pull a 72 hole completion out of his mystique, but we have seen the last tourney win. #don'tdrivewhileondrugs

So is Tiger the GOAT?
Or better said, is he without a doubt the GOAT?

Watched the start of The Match and he was introduced on the first tee as the GOAT.
He hasn't won the most tour events, and he hasn't won the most majors. And since I highly doubt he is going to win either again due to his health, does he deserve the title of GOAT?

Not looking up all the stats, but doesn't Nicklaus have a ton of 2nd place finishes and stuff like that, along with 18 majors?

For the record I definitely lean that he might be the GOAT, but when I heard that announcement I raised an eyebrow.

I think it was a given Tiger was going to be the GOAT when he was rolling, thus going ahead and calling him that wasn't an issue.....then the train jumped the tracks and he couldn't stay out of his own way.

I look at Tiger's rise and fall as this....

Need golf recs for Orlando, between the airport and Disney. Have an early arrival and late departure so looking to sneak a couple of rounds in.

Check Orange County National....two championship courses plus a 9 hole short track. Has hosted Q school in the past, and great rates compared to others in the area. It is about 10 miles from Disney and 30 miles to MCO.

It's really a shame how many were on the path to easily be the greatest of their sport and couldn't get out of their own way. Tiger, Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan, all had a portion of their careers derailed for one nefarious thing or another, which without interruption, would have cemented their place as the GOAT.

No Standard CC in Louisville? List is shit

Re NKY golf, they put Traditions on there, but not sure if it is top 10 worthy. Triple Crown is nice and tough, almost too tough, but top 10? Summit is not worthy of mention among elite. While it has golf, it gets little play compared to peers. #members does not equal # who play regularly.
As to public courses, some fun courses but nothing top 30.
