I don't know how I didn't know that Rickey Fowler is married to Allison Stokke. For those who don't recognize the name she is the pole vaulter made famous by the pic below...

If only Rickie could hit a putt like he hits that thigh gap.

Can’t say I am surprised but Tiger looked really good considering the injury. Obviously is not 100% and who knows if he right leg is ever the same again but he still can get the ball out there and his short game looked solid.

Charlie has the same swing and speed that Tiger had in his younger years. That kid has a ton of potential. I think the physical traits will be there as he gets older. He is going to have the length needed. How he handles being Tiger’s son and the pressure that will be put on his shoulders if he develops into a pro is the big question.

Good showing from Tiger and surprised a lot of of people. That said, it was obvious he is still light years away from walking a 7500 yd track for 4+ days, but given the program that got him to this point, he definitely has a chance.

Dale Hollow is where I play mostly. If they would fix all the bunkers it would be a lot higher up the list probably.

Although the PGA season has been underway for a couple of months, it officially gets rolling tomorrow. Love Kapalua....hard to stay focused on golf when you have these views.

Not familiar with any of the Louisville courses. Is everything on the list private except Dale Hollow?

Have heard many people say Champions is on the same level as Lexington CC. And pros play there, so maybe worth the one up.
I've played both quite a bit and it isn't all that close IMO. Pros playing there doesn't mean anything. That just means you have the room to host it and members(or owners) are willing to let it happen.

To each their own. I'll admit I have played champions a ton and have never played Lex CC but I have looked at it online. Personally, space limitation is a turn off for me and golf. End of property fences right next to a green? Meh. Fairways of different holes next to each other? Meh. Miss a skinny fairway by 10 feet and you are behind a tree? Meh. Be sitting in your cart in the middle of your fairway and your cart gets hit by a ball from another tee? Meh.

I can get all that at Tates Creek and Picadome for a lot less money.

Can certainly agree with to each their own. By your comments I'm going to guess you're a long hitter that struggles a bit with control. The only thing you said that I've ever noticed being a turn off is having people from another hole playing in your fairway frequently.

LCC is also the best maintained course in Lexington and it's not really close. Same with the greens. Easily the best greens around.

Used to be a long hitter but have lost some yardage off the tee. And don't get me wrong, I have heard those comments about LCC, and it very well may be the best course in Lex. I simply thought LOL'ing that Keene was ranked one above them might not have been worth an LOL. Hell I would put Keene Run in the top 5 of Lex courses, and Champions probably 1 or 2.

Lets solve this this summer when you take me to LCC and I will invite you to Champions. HEHE

Can't argue with the top 5, maybe the order, but they are definitely the best I have played. But you have to include Idle Hour as well, most exclusive in Lexington for sure, and has a few quirky holes that are not my taste, but it is top flight course without question.

I have never played Louisville Country Club and hear that it is super nice as well. Anyone played it want to issue an opinion?

[I just realized that GD must really like Arthur Hills, he has three courses on the list - Persimmon, Olde Stone and Champions]

I would assume it is still the same process, but a course used to have pay handsomely to GD to have their course reviewed. I guess Lex CC ponied up this time around, as they used to pass. Anyone who plays golf regularly in Lex knows that Lex CC and IH are the two best courses in Central KY, and it isn't close.

Champions is great, and and the Barbasol definitely helps pump up the value, but were it not for logistics, then the tourney would not have been held there. They had the room, and it is an aesthetically pleasing course. The only other course that would have worked would have been Kearney, but they didn't want a muni in Lex, KY to hold a PGA tour event.

I know a LOT of people who play golf regularly and have never gotten on Idle Hour. I play Valhalla once a year, play Keene and Champions a few times a year along with Greenbrier and Lex CC but have never found a hook at IH. Frankly my favorite course in the Lex area to play is Griffin Gate. I like variety in my golf so I've never understood the country club membership - basically forces you to play one course the majority of the time. I guess I am lucky to have friends who are members at local courses. Also, "it isn't close" is the most overused and hyperbolic phrase on the internet.

As a member, best thing about the PGA at Champions is that it compelled the owners (with assistance from PGA) to put some serious money into the course, killed all the greens and replanted with newer strains of grass a few years ago, cleaned up bunkers, most importantly added drainage improvements to a number of holes which helped immensely on some problem holes. Week in and week out, it is in a lot better shape than 5 or 6 years ago. Champions is not maintained like IH or LCC . . . . but I have a lot of friends at both places and I am paying about half what they do in monthly fees and minimums, so there is definitely a trade off.

Statewide, the two most difficult courses on the list are Valhalla and Olde Stone, and although "it isn't close" may well be the most overused and hyperbolic phrase on the internet, "it isn't close" is a fair description of those two versus the others I have played.

Agreed. I am an 8.2 and have posted scores in the low/mid 70s at most courses I have played more than one or two times. Valhalla? 7 rounds, best score is an 89. It's harder than anything else I've played in KY. Have not played Olde Stone. Big Spring is a really nice track - hosted a major in the 50s I think - it's challenging but it's not Valhalla.

I really used to enjoy playing Houston Oaks, but the last time I went out there, their damn fairway bunkers were filled with concrete - wtf? Why not just fill them with dirt and toss some seed on them?

Unless I play from a forward tee, Valhalla is really not much fun for me to play, rough way too deep, too many long forced carries, stupid long uphill par 4s (#6 is maybe the hardest par 4 I have ever played). TBH, not a big fan of Nicklaus designed courses anyway. However, it is a great venue for pro tournaments though, can accommodate huge crowds.

Personally, while Olde Stone is also hard as hell, just seems more "fun" to play, the greens are wicked, first 4 holes or so are killers, but if you can get to number 5 relatively unscathed, it is not impossible to score on. At least IMO.
