UKO siding with Phil & the Saudi league was the lock of the Century. 🤡

Didn't side with him at all....just said he didn't do anything wrong. What he said wasn't exactly politically correct, and it will probably cost him some fav player votes, but oh well.

At least he wasn't high on painkillers, speeding, texting, and endangering the lives of others. But that gets a break these days.

I would watch it with the "I don't care if they fail" stuff if I was Phil. The next guy that does what he is will be saying "I know they killed that journalist and they kill people for being gay and they cut Phil's head off but I need leverage."

UKO is clueless about golf and more clueless about politics. Pretty much go opposite what he says and you will be just fine.

One of us voted for the dementia patient currently in the WH, and it wasn't me.

You could stand to take notes once in a while.

The Saudi league doesn't have an OGWR scoring system. They can't really legitimize their tournaments without one and if they don't have one in development, they are probably 3-5 years considering it takes about 2 years to build the points up for the tournament. PGA isn't going to allow them to use theirs.

The PGA Tour isn't going to allow someone to play on their tour and the Saudi tour. The players will have to choose and if they go Saudi, they will not be allowed to play on the PGA Tour, too.

Phil is destroying his legacy but doesn't seem like he cares. He's probably getting more money than he needs from the Saudis. Wonder if he's in financial trouble.

Unbelievable how quickly Phil has fallen. Wins the PGA at 50, fans absolutely love the guy and now this. Time will heal the wounds just like it did with Tiger and his issues but it’s going to be a hit on his legacy.

"This" is a nothing burger except for a few hurt feelings and so forth. Although he stuck his foot in his mouth sideways, he did nothing wrong, illegal, etc. Once he resumes playing and talks to the players in the locker room, all of this is over. His legacy is fine.

Agree with this, although I share the view of 98% of the PGA players, Saudi league is a dumbass idea, and Phil came across as being totally tone deaf, sort of like how Tom Brady complaining about poor treatment by the NFL would be perceived.

Phil started slowly losing me a while back, but I thought he had recovered after his PGA win.

Don't know what this guy was thinking. Saudi League? I'd rather watch the Korn Ferry Tour.

I've heard Greg Norman wasn't a very good person, but I guess him being a big dog with the rival league seals it.

You may be right, but him making $800 million during his career through sponsorships and purse money and then saying the tour is obnoxiously greedy and needing change while supporting a Saudi golf league is an awful look. Especially as he’s getting older and in the twilight of his career. This could be his swan song.

If he just came out and said he wanted a boatload of more, that could at least be understood. He sided with the Saudis as an attempt to grow the game. That was an insult to golf fans’ intelligence in my opinion. Tiger may be a terrible husband and a jerk but he never disrespected the game of golf like this in my opinion.

Phil takes the brunt of this while the other chickencrap players that were onboard are now cowering in a corner. Screw the PGA Commish In this instance. Go Greg go.

See the definition of Phil if you want to commit career suicide. Appears his true character is now there for all to see. Lost his three major sponsors. No shot at ever being Ryder Cup captain now. He’s got more money than he could ever spend.

Will he defend his PGA championship? What about The Masters just a few weeks away? Will he get blasted with boos the next time he tees it up?

Well, he's wealthy beyond most anyone on this board's wildest dreams. Golf course design, clothing lines, wines and the list goes on. The guy doesn't "need" more money. Does Norman have an axe to grind with the PGA and European tours? Outside of making money, which I get is priority number one, I see no real reason for a super tour. Are they really fostering competition with hefty guaranteed appearance fees? I just don't really see where this league fits into anything. What would happen to what we consider as the 4 majors, will they hold their place in golf? I still don't even really know what their agenda\goal is other than "mo money, mo money, mo money"!

As a golf fan, I don't watch tournaments because they have the largest purses. I watch for competition, for the courses and history, for the individual stories, players and personalities. I don't give a damn how much money is in the purse. I like to see new courses in a rotation every once in a while. I don't want to see a tour of tournaments played at courses I'm not familiar with that were built within the last 5 years.

As far as Phil is concerned, I'm not saying I agree with him, quite frankly I don't know enough about it all to have that kind of an opinion. What I do know is, the younger stars are going to play the PC angle. They aren't going to do or say anything that might burn some bridges. Phil has already crossed the ravine and has the torch in his hands.

As this goes on I am sure Phil would give up most of that money to rehab his image and legacy. I think he will slowly get there but it’s going to take a good while. Whatever his true intentions were only he knows, but trying to win back public opinion is going to be really difficult.

This is Norman’s second time doing this. He tried to get support from the players for a breakaway in 90s sometime I think. The WGC events were kind of in response to his attempts at that time.

I don’t know what his axe is but he definitely has one to grind.
Here is an article I found that talks about it some.

Norman is a POS and Phil is a clown for doing what he did. He has ruined his legacy and basically sold his soul, morals and whatever else because he is greedy. Used to be a fan of Phil but no more. The arrogance and greed and his feeling that he is so much better than others is more than enough to turn me away. Screw him.

The Golf SubPar Podcast, on YouTube, with Colt Knost and Drew Stolz is a good watch/listen every week. Interviews are uploaded every Tuesday. The interview with Pat Perez this week was excellent. He killed Phil.

His true character? Does this include being the biggest philanthropist on tour and by many accounts, the most generous to tournament workers? He has also donated millions to fight illiteracy inc. hundreds of thousands of books nationwide with his now former KFFL charity. He also gave half a mill to Jackson St.

He stuck his foot in his mouth, and offended many, but he hardly killed anyone's cat or whatever. His career will rebound, just like Tiger's did, DJ, and others who have crossed the line into being "human".
