I find this funny. Because the posters on this board have been accused of being racist, and quite often. How could it be, that a racist board, would stick up for a black coach who routinely racked up 10+ losses to the point he earned a nickname from his records?
Lol. Yeah the combo of Wagner's recruitment, 9-16, and Saint Peters, pressure of all that and the pressure of having Oscar back has me as interested in UK/Cal as I've ever been. I'm fascinated to see how he responds to all of this. If he middles around and takes UK to the Sweet 16 and loses Wagner to Payne!? I'm so excited to see what happens...lol.
I can't post any direct knowledge on Wagner - only what we're being told on the UofL side of things and things are in motion on the NIL side and UofL is working to get Milts position cleared through the NCAA because both Milt and Payne would rather he not be an on court coach. We'll see. From what we're being told - Wagner's commitment isn't hinging on Milt getting a job.
We'll see. I can see losing Wagner next Spring being a big nail for Cal's coffin.

Kenny's like an uncle to DJ (said as much in last nights interview at Nike EYBL) and obviously Milt and Kenny have been teammates and close friends for 40 years now. I have no idea how true it is but I can confirm that at least 4 non-UofL homer/national recruiting people associated with 247 and Rivals have stated flat out that World Wide Wes is involved and pushing him to Louisville. I don't know what state Cal/Wes' relationship is currently I would assume they're not nearly as close as they were his pre-NBA days. As I said above I think UofL is working on a major NIL deal for him as well that isn't just some local thing - no idea what it is only that there's headway being made and I think Kenny's association with RocNation is probably going to play a role. Another aspect that makes no logical sense but has been mentioned by multiple entities in the recruiting world is that DJ really likes that Nolan Smith is at Louisville. Can't explain why, because I don't know but Nolan seems to at the very least be a "factor" in this. Highly doubt its a deciding factor but he's at least been brought up multiple times by multiple people.
An uncle isn’t as close as a father. I’ll believe UL gets him when I see it, also, you keep talking about NIL. Oscar is reportedly gonna make upwards of 5 million next year. Who is beating that at UL? And don’t say YUM when Kentucky taxpayers are having to pay for “their”‘arena.
Also, I saw something that said him his grandfather don’t talk about College and he doesn’t know much about UL. He knows about UK, has for years. He probably also wants to play in the NCAA’s(not guaranteed under Cal). If anyone has an influence, it will be his dad. We know where his dads loyalties lie.

As far as UofLs NIL I'm not sure on the specifics all I know is that UofL is doing really well adapting and embracing it and its paying off and is a big reason why the football recruiting has skyrocketed since Vince/Neeli left in December. We know for a fact that boosters have re emerged in droves post Mack/Tyra/Neeli as well - specifically Junior Bridgeman and Wade Houston specifically on the basketball side. As far as DJ and UK/UL I dunno. I mean there's clearly smoke - I can't tell you who talks to who about what in the Wagner family but clearly DJ isn't layup for UK. Maybe DJ thinks Cal has lost his appeal and thinks Kenny Payne's a cooler coach...it could be that simple. We have no clue - UofL side feels, very good and that means nothing because I would wager this won't be over anytime soon.
As far as the tournament thing - I would say if people are holding their breath expecting some huge NCAA smackdown to hit UofL - you're probably going to pass out. NCAA grows weaker and weaker and the poster child from an investigation that happened 5 YEARS AGO just won their tournament. I would wager the NCAA wants this gone as much as the schools do.

I'll put it this way I will wager that whatever punishment UofL is handed down whenever that is - it will be far less severe than UK fans though it would be. I just think this is going to be as "swept under the rug" as possible. Quick what happened to those schools that had dudes legit go to jail and legit testify in court? What'd they do to multiple offender Bruce Pearl? What are they going to try and do with their current national champion being the cover boys for the entire investigation?
Regardless - in the scheme of that discussion and DJ - I doubt it plays a role.

Well, I’m no UK or UL “insider”, but it doesn’t take one to see that the Wagner/ Cal/ UK ship has sailed. If Cal realistically had any chance, DJ would have already committed, because the whole CBB world knew he wasn’t considering any other coach/ school.
Well, that’s obviously not the case, and it’s going to be Cal’s greatest recruiting loss to date, bar none.
I don’t think the ship has sailed. I don’t think a kid like DJ would be committed to UK right now regardless of who was at UofL or how well/bad Cals recent resume looked. Kids like DJ rarely commit this early.
Every day that goes by that Wagner isn’t a Cat, is a day closer that he’ll suit up for someone else. I said the same thing about Williamson and Wiggins, That’s just my opinion, and I’ll happily be wrong just as I was with Oscar returning for his senior season.
But fast forward, if Cal doesn’t land DJW, there’s going to be a lot of shock, stunned, and utterly amazed people shaking their heads! But not me.

You can go to as many of these boards as you want. If you can believe it I post a lot on the UofL board too. I recently moved and started a new job where I sit in an office for 8 hours a day and it’s horrendously boring. You guys are insane and love to talk to basketball about a program that while I may not be a fan of - I have been around for 40 years and lived in Lexington and Richmond for 10 of those years.
There will be a lot of fans on here that are very disappointed. Where can I (not) put some money on that?

As someone who grew up in Tennessee with family in Western Ky and a die hard UK father, I couldn’t imagine being a Louisville fan. I mean I didn’t even know Louisville existed really growing up. I don’t really consider them much of a rival like Tennessee is. The nation largely thinks nothing of Louisville. You’ve got Kentucky right there and you want Louisville? Okay I guess. But that would suck.
I have never gone there but I know if anyone from here had posted the truth on their board a few years ago they would have been banned.
