Damien Harris Rumors

He'll have a lot harder time getting onto the field at Bama than he would at UK...

If he goes to Bama, there's a chance that he never gets onto the field at all.

I think he'd do well there, but they have a ton of great backs and they'll bring in 2 or 3 more next year and the year after that...

I know this is a recruiting dead period, no face to face, but I think email, text, phone, etc are in play so do we know if Dawson has communicated with Harris?

Thought the Fla RB UK contacted is a '16.

I really could use some inside info on strippers. Does he have a blog or a podcast on this?

None of us have any idea what Harris will do, but i will say two things.

1) The Crystal Ball on 24/7 is a voting contest. Only a few actually have real knowledge that vote and the other people just follow the trend and run with it. 24/7 is good for composite rankings but thats about it. Rivals drives the business.

2) Even if Harris has picked Bama, he may change his mind. GrumpyDawg can probably vouch for this.....Keith Marshall (5 star RB) went to bed on signed day eve planning to choose Clemson and then woke up the next morning wanting to attend UGA.

Alot of guys really have no idea. We've seen all the stories of last minute drama.

Mike Farrell just changed his pick, this guy knows his stuff. I am now putting my confidence at
65% Bama
30% Kentucky
5% Ohio St.

Harris was the only back recruited this year by UK! If he chooses Bama so be it. UK has a stable of young running backs. As it stands now this class will not bring in a QB or RB if Harris goes south. Coach Stoops, Marrow, and staff will continue to work very hard on the recruiting trail! Next year is looking good and off to a good start. WHY NOT UK

If the announcement is broadcast, I am no longer planning to tune in. Too much drama.

I think it was Gurley, because we already had Marshall at the time, but it was one of the two and I just can't remember for a fact.

Let me say this, I don't know anything about Harris, where he is going or anything like that. Harris isn't concerned about a depth chart, great players aren't, because they think they are going to the top of it. But Harris has been to UK multiple times during the year. UK is the home state school, depth chart is inviting. But I think it comes down to where he feels the most comfortable and with so many visits I think that is UK. These kids love the attention and sometimes to creat more attention and more suspense sometimes false info is intentionally leaked by the kids family/friends to creat more. I don't think the comfort level is close and he pull the "surprise" and pick UK tomorrow.

Matt Jones must have heard something that changed his pick to Bama. Was planing to go to the signing but changed his mind because if Damien picks Alabama it could put more pressure on the young man. Like the rest of us he doesn't know for sure but just gets the feeling that Bama will be his pick.

I won't believe it's Alabama until I hear Damien say Alabama. IMO it's Kentucky until I hear different!!!

Same here, I have a meeting at work at that time, and figured I would just check the board afterwards and see.

J K Rowland tweeted UK was about to make a move on a 2015 RB committed elsewhere. An accompanying picture shows a RB from a "Fitch" HS. Anybody know who it might be? I have tried researching the database, but no luck.

He needs to look at Tim Couch and Shawn Alexander. Tim came to UK, was a legend for it, got hurt in the pros and makes bank on all the endorsements he gets because he is so beloved by the Big Blue Nation. Alexander went to Bama, had a great career there, a successful career in the pros, but is you never hear about any endorsement deals down there for him because he is just another in a long line of former Alabama players.

If Harris goes to UK, he will be able to retire on the endorsement deals he will get as a UK legend. If he goes to Alabama he'll be just another in a long line.

If Harris chooses 'Bama it will be the definition of "why" Kentucky has "not" had success. We've upgraded coaching, we've upgraded the stadium, we've had respectable recruiting as of late. Apparently we're not quite at turning the corner.

I'm tired of the best wishes when it comes to local recruits committing to other schools. I've certainly had enough of mediocrity. I would hope that recruits that grow up in the shadow of Commonwealth Stadium have had enough too.

I get 'Bama is 'Bama. I get why we get incredible basketball recruits from other states and see the comparison. However, there is a way to change it and one big factor is having local talent care about the local flagship university.

Playing in the Army All American Bowl and being around all those Bama commits seamed to be the deciding factor. eleven All Americans in your ear at the same time could be a huge factor in his decision.

If UK is now recruiting another 2015 RB I would take that as a very bad sign on the Harris decision.

I think some of the Bama recruits got in his ears at the Under Armour All American game. There was a boatload there that are planning to go to Bama. He got a good look at the talent going to Bama and interacted and likely formed some friendships with them. I think this likely pushed him over to the Bama side.

I am sure the coaching staff is doing damage control but fear it might not be enough. I do think however that they will stay on him up until signing day regardless of who he picks tomorrow. Who knows maybe Mama can get in his ear if she prefers UK. There have been late switches before and when the memory of the trip to Under Armour fads a bit he might see the merit in a choice of UK.

I get your point. But Shaun Alexander was the NFL mvp in 2005. And is number 7 overall in rushing tds in NFL history.

Like I said I get the point and agree with it. But this was not the best comparison out there.

If he hasn't he will. I don't think this is over tomorrow if he picks Bama.

At this point, I would be surprised if Dawson hadn't made any contact. However, he seems to be more of a thought than a person. I expect things to heat up when UK finally holds a press conference for him.

Guys, Bama is the logical choice in a few areas. History of running backs, coaching staff, and good talent surrounding him.

UK is logical as well given that, like many have already said, he could very well be gone in 3 years, earning a paycheck and then feed off of endorsements after his playing days are done. Bama doesn't have the home field advantage, though.

Rest assured, the AA Game probably swayed Harris to Bama, but this fight is not over if he commits to the Tide tomorrow. He's surrounded by BBN in his community, school, and friends, his mother loves UK and the staff and so does he, and he will have more opportunity to talk with his friends who are also UK recruits.

This is battle may be lost, but the war has not yet ended.

Nothing against our guys up front, but most of them were Joker recruits or baby-faced Stoops recruits. We haven't had much to work with.

This. And it doesn't really matter if Harris chooses UK or Bama unless we get this fixed. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. We've got solid RB's, maybe not as talented, but not that far off. What we need are holes for them to run through and a passing game that prevents teams from stacking the box.

Did she take time out from writing Harry Potter books to tweet about UK football recruiting? Just trying to lighten the mood on here, I know the difference

The OL should just get better and better from here on out. All Stoops kids are young, but time will fix that. Stoops is also appears to be bringing in stud OL classes in 2015 & 2016.

One thing I'm not worried about for the future is the OL. Maybe not next season, but as these guys in the system start to develop and get stronger we won't have to put our QBs behind a crumbling wall of bricks.

Yeah, poor Shawn Alexander. He only has millions of dollars to retire on from his NFL career. That's a pretty bad comparison.

I hope he signs with UK. But the truth is RB is probably UK's most talented position with or without Harris, Boom and the other backs aren't just going to hand him the number 1 spot. He will have a fight on his hands and thats a credit to UK's returning backs, not a slam at Harris. But as with any instate 5* its important to do all you can and push hard to keep him in state. That is the biggest reason he needs to choose UK, to show others that the state of Kentucky can produce elite talent and keep it home. But make no mistake, UK already has an elite back, if he were running behind a better OL he would have put up some big numbers last season.
If he is worried about competing with our four stars then he should be prtrified about competing with their five stars, and the latest five star enrolling today with a spring training advantage is 6' 2" 234# with a 4.5 forty, and I think Bama prefers the jumbo back.

As far as the NFL goes I'm not sure he will miss anything at UK that he will get at Bama, unless it is not many carries so he can save himself for the NFL.

They do love the big back. I believe Yeldon is there smallest back and he is 6-2 221.
