D-League

Good Sunday morning everyone.

Well, despite maybe the worst last minute of a game I've ever seen.... we won. Awesome game. I think we owe a lot to Ugo and Thiero's defense early in the game. TN was intimidated. Reeves and Shepherd were awesome, and Edwards really has come around lately. Looking forward to the tourney now.

It looks like I may miss Friday's game....watching a nephew play HS baseball. It will be the first time I've had a chance to see him play. The next game I'll be driving home from a meeting and will listen on the radio.

We've got a couple of special presentations at church today from Creation.com (sp). Watch some of the games between sessions and then off to the lake tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 47°F, cloudy with a light wind. Today's high may reach 66°F.

Yesterday's game: Only 5 Cats scored. But it was enough. Edwards, Reeves. Dillingham and Sheppard went 15-24 from Trey-ville. Those 4 players collectively shot over 60% from downtown. Just incredible. 9 blocks surely helped the effort. Nobody in the country can beat such offense and defense. Keep it going, Cats!

Income taxes: Nearly finished with return. Looks like gonna owe IRS big this year. Bah!

Packing more later today. Taking Pop-Tarts over to Germany for a old friend. And bourbon for another old friend.

Wishing y'all a delightful Sunday.

Good morning folks. Still buzzing about the Cats' win. Everything coming together at the right time for this team.

Great to see Edwards' development, especially after the ignoramuses on Rupp spent all of November, DEcember and most of January saying the kid had no talent. It was obvious from the first day he had talent -- just like it was with Ron Mercer, who also took a while to find his comfort zone. Anyway, not a day to be negative. A great day to be a Cats fan.

Back from a long hike. IT is a beautiful late winter morning in the east. Hope you all have a great day.

I have no idea where I will be on taxes this year. Anxiously waiting on my CPA's word. It is very complicated this year.

I've been doing ours for a few decades now. When I had my own business I hired a CPA. (A couple). Of those two, I never got what I felt was their fiduciary responsibility to do their best to save me money. I keep exact records of expenditures and they seemed never willing to take the time to do what I called, good work.

I did my own payroll as well when I had 11 employees and was audited a couple times. Never had any issues.

I always try going by, "don't lie and you do not have to remember what you said." Do that in business as well... Yep, lots of work but I keep what's ours better that way.

Yep, some are better than others. Back in the good old days when business was booming, we had a guy come in and ask if he could review our returns. He found 50 grand in mistakes our CPA had made. Later he helped us a lot on other things. One of the smartest people I ever met. We switched to him and stayed with him till he retired and sold his firm. We stayed with the lady he sold to and I think she is pretty good. I try to be honest about my taxes (and all things). There are a couple of maybe things, but I told our CPA that I wanted no IRS trouble so we would skip anything we are unsure about as I don't want the IRS at my door.

On taxes: I made good money, invested and worked for a good company.

I am 77 years old and I pay taxes out of my ass.

The U.S. has a socialist system now and the folks who make money have to pay for the lazy assholes who do not do shit. Sorry but that is the case.

Just watch who you vote for.

Yes Sir,

I see first hand up where I live all the "freebies" given and a beggar on every corner but the beggars are coordinately begging... It is becoming a racket as some MUCH "tax" money is taken and given away by those that are not directly paying for it... (I will stop...)

Had a guy come up to me just a few days ago begging as I was getting into my car. When I told him no he had the nerve to look me in the eye and tell me..."I am 62 years old and I deserve help from someone." I looked him right back in his eyes and stated... "I am 62 years old too, glad to meet you but I'd dig a hole and sit next to it and fall in it and die before I came up to anyone like you are doing begging. Take a hike...I have grand kids who need my dough." (This was a white dude if it matters...)

Call me harsh (This is NOT political.) but I have been in that guys shoes when I was a lot younger and I KNOW what I would do as I went to 150 pounds and never begged anyone for anything. I'd have died first. Starved to death and know it but I'd have never begged for myself.

Note: Thus guy never said anything about kids or family...just himself. The skank.

Just think if 25 million or so illegals were not in this country how affordable it would be.... Gas, food, and most everything else. I do not hate illegals but I do hate there crimes and any who harbor them.

Taxes would sure go down too... a LOT...

There is a process to come here legally.

I will stop...

Good post.

I have never got a dime in charity, except from Mom and Dad.

I hate free loaders.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 56°F and clear. Breezy. Today's high may reach 72°F.

Shipped firearms should arrive today in Smiths Grove. Gun store will contact Cuz so he can drive drive over, perform transfer and pickup.

Former brother in-law Andre just contacted me via Facebook messenger. Another former brother in-law, Dirk, wanted to meet-up, but can't until March 29. Dirk lives/works in Switzerland. I'm returning March 25. Last saw him back in 2012.

Still have not yet packed. Getting on it tonight after work.

Monday, Monday....

Wishing y'all an awesome start to your week.

So we’re in Puerto Arenas, Chile today walking the streets and hear this loud screaching noise. It’s four Chile low flying fighter jets in diamond formation. What a noise. Question is, who knew they had four fighter jets? And I’d guess a lot more elsewhere.

Sir,

I love old people and children. I'd do most anything for them. Just irks me to no end seeing an able-bodied man begging. I have no tolerance....
Begging is not just a big city problem anymore. It is all over the country now and I see it on corners in the areas and towns I live nearby. Walmart and other large stores have them in the parking lots too.

I was sitting in a McDonalds a year or so ago eating lunch with my daughter in Lawton Oklahoma when two people (man and woman) came in, looked around (scouting to see who an easy mark was I guess) and saw me with my daughter. They passed by other patrons and headed for us. They ask for money for lunch, and I told them that I would not give them money, but if they were hungry, I would pay for it. They looked at each other and then said yeah, alright so, I did. They took the food and then walked out. I have no problem with helping people who are actually hungry, but those who just want money?...No.

Sounds like a great trip. And I always wanted to see four F-86 Sabres in flight. Or were they MiG 15s? I lose track of who backed who in the 1950s.

Good morning folks. Another Monday. But still on a bit of a high from the basketball weekend. It is good to get to the Selection Sunday week and feel a bit of optimism.

Sunny and cold and very, very windy in the east. Had to chase down my garbage cans this morning. Hope it is nice wherever you are.

Cold and clear in Smiths Grove. I woke up to 24°F this morning. Heavy frost.

We moved to Lorton, VA in February of 2017. We noticed a beggar at the corner of a large intersection. We noticed how consistent he was to be at that corner mostly all day nearly every day.

Darn if my wife and I drove by that intersection this past weekend and there he stood, giving everyone that passed a thumbs up and begging his heart out. He has worked that intersection for I guess at least six and maybe seven YEARS. Places all around him have help wanted signs out. A BK, a gas station, an apartment buidling.

I guess it's his life calling as he looks to be in his early 40's at most. he does seem a little mentally touched but darn he shows up day after day. That alone should get some wanting to hire him.... (I think someone may be "putting" him to work though on that corner...

One lady where we live now begs on a large intersection just down from our house. She has been begging there at least six months. She seems in her 30's... Chipper about it too...

Many, many more...

Somebody else that saw them recognized them as old F5’s. I wouldn’t know them from a Wright Flyer.
