When I first started passing out, they didn't know what it was. First they sent me to heart docs and did all kinds of tests.nothing but wasted time and money. Next I was sent to a local neurosurgeon who said I had a tumor on my brain and wanted to operate. That sounded to serious, so I asked my family doc and next door neighbour to set me up with someone really good. He sent me to a world class neurosurgeon in Memphis. He was a butt hole, but very good. He called the surgeon who wanted to operate a clown and told me to go home, see an ENT and quit wasting his time. The ENT quickly diagnosed the problem and started treating me.Really sorry to hear this Bernie. My Dad has been treated for positional vertigo for the past 5 years with no success. He's 87 and the spells are coming more frequently. Debilitating and it scares him to death that it might happen while driving. The doctors have all said that it's NOT Menieres. Yesterday I took him to a specialist at Norton's and she said that it's NOT positional vertigo but very likely Menieres. We'll see. If this is the case then it's been a huge waste of time. His quality of life has really suffered and if he has been misdiagnosed then I'll really be angry.
You can buy OTC mclizine at the drug store. If your friend catches the dizzy spell quick enough, that might help him. If you wait till you are already throwing up, you will just throw up the med. At one time, they gave me suppositories for bad vomiting bouts. Don't know if those are sold OTC.An acquaintance of mine, old work partner at one point, has serious bouts of vertigo. He's never had good enough insurance nor care to know if he has Menieres. I found out about his severe vertigo because I decided to stop by his place one day when I was nearby doing some work. He crawled to the door to unlock it before heading to the bathroom to get sick from the activity.
He hadn't been able to leave the house nor call anyone for days. Couldn't keep food down. I don't know what might have happened to him if I hadn't been given the thought to stop by to see him. I went to the store and got him some pedialyte, gatorade, and aloe Vera juice (to slow or ease the vomiting). Also got him some broth and and soups for when he was a little better.
I knew that all kinds of vertigo could be triggered by neck and/or ear issues, and told him a high salt diet could as well (and he ate a lot of restaurant-cooked food, specifically pork, which was very high in salt content). I've checked on him mich more often since, but he seemed to be doing better for a while. Lately though, his eating habits have been returning to what they were before his extreme vertigo kicked in.
I will be praying for you today, @berniecarbo and checking in on him to remind him about the changes he made a couple years ago. You posting about your suffering from it may help him, but I really hope you get better soon.
Good morning to all of the D-League. Slept little for 3 days now. I'm a mere wisp of myself right now. Just got to make it to tonight so I can get some rest this weekend.
Hello all,
Changed my RO filters today. All of them. There are four types of filters with five total filters to include a sediment filter (First filter) to the membrane (The fifth filter.) Below is the old sediment filter with the new filter behind it to give a comparison. (The sediment and two others are changed annually to 18 months. All filters are to be changed every two to four years.)
The sediment filter is in the picture and I am thinking it was due at a year at the end of March so I took it near the 17 month mark knowing I was going to change all the filters this go round..... (Ouch) I guess MdW has an idea of what his water is nearly like out of the tap as I bet we are getting near the same water. Sobering but knowing the RO system I have confidence in drinking the water from the RO rather than bottled water...(I'd hate to see their filtering system filters...)

I must say that I have not had the problems some of you have but it could be because I am not as old either. I will say though other than the normal old age (65) aches and pains my body still allows for a lot of movement. Still playing ball and working out (especially Martial Arts) has kept me very limber and healthy, I think (now need to work on diet). Most of my pains come from getting hit by the ball and taking kicks from my student.
As I had posted earlier in the month, I am trying to lose some pounds to eliminate possible problems in the future. Started the first of the month (slow start due to 2 birthdays with food in the first week) but have still gone from 220lbs (Aug 1st) to 214lbs this morning. Aiming for 210lbs by the end of the month. I have done that with portion control (not first week) and adding a 20–30-minute walk after my workouts.
My only real problem according to my doctor is blood pressure. I am trying to lower it naturally as I do not want medications because they seem to add other problems (side effects) that you need more meds for.
It brings tears to my eyes seeing someone do this, because I never expected anyone in the DLeague to be so sedimental. You're just an ole softy
Beets for BloodPressure. Kiwis help also, but not near as effective as beets. They've helped so many people I've told about them.
Congrats on the weight loss, and lack of pain. You're right about the martial arts and staying limber. Almist all my woes are sourced from football and weight training injuries. Things my freshman wrestling coach never had issues with due to his martial arts training and competition. Coach was a top 3 finisher in a national competition our Fr or So year. Can't remember which discipline

I am a breakfast first person too. It is my favorite meal of the day and something I would only skip if I had to fast or there was nothing to eat. I was raised by a mother who would get up an hour before the rest of us and put the biscuits in the oven and fry one of ham, sausage, bacon, pork chops or fish. Fried fish for breakfast was always a treat for us. The fish was always fresh caught and never frozen. A special meal for sure.Good morning D-League. It's currently 68° and partly cloudy here in Eastern Kentucky. This afternoon will bring a chance of thunderstorms and a high of 85°.
Getting ready to enjoy my favorite meal, breakfast. Something I don't get to do through the week. As a kid, I absolutely hated breakfast.
Everyone stay safe on this Saturday.

Back from fishing. Went to Elgin Tank but it was so full of trees and brushes around the bank I could not bank fish, so I drove back to Nine Mile Pond which is just before Elgin Tank. There were 3 guys in kayaks at Elgin Tank which made me wish I had brought mine. Any ways, Nile Mile was pretty good to me as I had many strikes with 7 hooks and 5 landed.
Not a bad haul as the in laws are coming over again today so...fish for dinner. Largest was about 4lbs or so. But the biggest thing in the pond today was me as I got my left boot stuck in the mud at the edge and tried to rock myself free only to lose my balance and fall in. Good thing the beavers who were harassing me earlier were not around. They flanked me early on, one on left side and the other on the right. They started popping their tales on the surfaces signifying I was not welcome. I'm going to tell Ward they were being bad.

Here's one you will appreciate. A ham and egg breakfast shows the difference between involved and commited. The chicken is involved. The pig is commited.I am a breakfast first person too. This is a nice mess of fish for frying. You are eating well in Oklahoma.Back from fishing. Living well too any day I can go fishing. As the weather cools, I will be going out more just for the outdoor experience. I bass fish right now about twice a week keeping 4 to 5 from one trip for a weekly fish fry. Catch and release about 60-70% so there is more for later. Yesterday I caught 7 kept 5, Thursday, I caught 4 and released them. This is a nice mess of fish for frying. You are eating well in Oklahoma.
If I ran across this in Florida I would identify it as a Brahminy Blind Snake. They can be mistaken for earth worms and are probably one of the smallest snakes we have. I read they are the smallest snake in the world. They live in loose soil, leaf litter, rotting logs, sawdust, and beneath surface debris. They are native of Southeast Asia but have been spread around the world through the tropical plant trade. They are commonly found in tropical plants. They are harmless.I was mowing the back yard and came up on this.. My eyes even with glasses was hard to make it out. I don't think it's poisonous but it has now been rendered harmless though I am concerned about sisters, brothers, cousins, inlaws, and outlaws as this was at the edge of My Darlings garden...
