How many games are we up now? Wish we didn't have all the injuries or you could've add3d at least 2.
i think still 6, since we’re just counting wins. all they lost was one game on their schedule for an opportunity to win. now if we win tomorrow it will be up to 7.

Ok they've lost 4 of 6 i was hoping we gained more on them. 7 sounds good though. Only thing sucks is playing in the SEC vs playing teams like ARST, OKST, Colorado, Utah, etc. and 10 of their teams have 10 or more losses and 8 have below .500 records in conf.

Is KU down any players? I haven’t kept up with them that much.

Unless they have had significant injuries, they really have no excuse to be this bad. I figure they must have locker room issues.
Adding Mayo, Griffin, and Storr from the portal looked great on paper hence the #1 ranking.
Didn't work out so well in reality.

Young won’t be Coaching at BYU long.
I don't think he's leaving BYU unless it's for the NBA. He's a Mormon, from SLC, and they now have a boatload of NIL money to throw around. And unlike Pope there's no alma mater to return to, he played college ball at a D2 school.

I bet Self hangs it up soon. He had health issues and missed the tourney a few years back. He’s got nothing left to prove. 2 titles. Dominated a power conference for nearly 2 decades. Hes had a great career. Bet he doesn’t linger around and try to milk Kansas like Cal did UK.

Would love it if this ends Self's career.. but at the same time I kind of worry their next hire "could" be an upgrade. I'm kind of fine if self stays there honestly lol.

Funny how big 12 adds a few teams with a basketball pulse and now Kansas can’t cruise to conference ships and 1 seeds.

The two newcomers in Zona and Houston will win the conference.

Seems like the fan base wants oats asap.

Cal had a 5 year stretch of bad seasons and missed opportunities and the media said UK fans were nuts for wanting a change, Self has one mediocre year so Kansas fans are wanting a change....crickets chirping.

CBB landscape is changing. If I can win titles at say Auburn or Alabama, why would I want to go to Kentucky, or KU, or UNC or Duke where success is not guaranteed and the pressure ramps WAAAAAY up?

I'd rather stay at Bama and then if I have an off year, it's much easier forgiven.

I still don't think people understand how much NIL has changed the sport.

That is maybe something I wish BBN knew/realized more than anything else. Lexington KY and especially Lawrence Kansas, are not the draws we think. On top of the location, it's the pressure like you mentioned. If I wads a coach I really don't think I'd want to coach at either (removing my fandom from the equation). I'd rather be at an Alabama or a Florida.

Coaching at a traditional football school, but being decent at basketball would be a dream job. You aren't the primary focus, but you still get kudos. It's partially why we're stuck with Stoops. We're a basketball school. If the FB team makes a bowl, WOOHOO!

Lexington, Ky population 320,154 is the 14th most populous city in the southeast, affordable cost of living, world-renowned historical sites, some of the best bourbon in the country, derby horse races, and more, the Horse Capital of the World. Lexington is consistently ranked among the most affordable cities for early retirement because of its inexpensive housing, accessible healthcare, and generally low cost of living. In addition to having low sales and property taxes.

I believe Self started Dickinson, Bidunga and KJ Adams. He must have thought they were going to BYU for a wrestling match instead of a basketball game.

I rest my case lol.

I'm not saying NO coach would want to live there, some might prefer what KY has to offer. But you saw first hand two coaches wives turn KY down. Now of course, some will say those wives are wrong, snooty, etc. But the fact remains, there's a portion of the BBN fanbase that can't fathom why someone wouldn't want to live there, and for a lot of people outside of KY (this probably applies to any place), they don't see the appeal.

Agree.

We also have to understand this isn’t our grandfathers’ college basketball or even our fathers’ SEC. Blueblood fanbases will struggle with this more than most.

They day of the bluebloods having pick of the litter for players is over. If South Carolina offers a bigger bag than UK, player’s likely headed to Columbia. Tradition is nice for fans to be proud of, but most modern players don’t care what any school did 20-50 years ago.

I also think the pressure of jobs like this one is more of a negative than a positive for landing proven, established coaches. The notion we can get any player or coach because we are Kentucky is false in 2025.
