D-League

Good morning

Trust all are well and enjoying the nice warm weather of June. We currently have 82° With wind WSW at 7 mph, the humidity is73%. Our high should reach 86° with a 15% chance of rain.

I just returned from the first heart nuclear stress test in my life. I had no idea what to expect and really enjoyed it. In addition to all of the imaging they do with the dye injection they put me on a treadmill for 30 minutes to get my heart rate up to about 130. It was 60 when they started. The treadmill had a nice video of the Grand Canyon and you walked up the hill with some nice scenery. That made it fun.

To my knowledge I do not have any heart issues and have never been on medication for my heart or had chest pains or any of that stuff. My doctor thought at my age, since I have not had one to go ahead and do it. I like my doctor, he is a good Ole' Boy rancher by birth and trade. He owns two ranches, one here and one in Georgia.

Sir,
I won't keep interacting and I can stop posting here anytime though I dearly love this place. I am no saint and I drink sparingly but I drink. I will stop posting for a few days but I give respect and all I ask for is simple respect. I have overlooked a few... and will again but today wasn't the day.
Been a Christian since 1964 when I was saved. Was studying science before that. That scared folks Been cancelled (shunned) for not being a biiblical puritan more than once for descerning the the facts and explaining them. I was informed that was a blessing and to keep that quiet that I'd be damned for lying. about what I know as true. Opinions (interpretations) vary and used keep one confused. Ef that. As knowledge grows, so does mine. There is only one truth. The discernment thing allows me to change my mind given new information. Examples. Birds are living descendants dinosaurs taht lived millions of years ago.. Nearly identical. All evidence explains that humans been around some 100,000 years and almost certainly descendants of apes. A missing link is just that missing or non-existent. Doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Evidently, I'm the bad guy here. I suppose I misinterpret the occasional emoji's.

Look pal, I had you on ignore for at least 2 years before I got banned. I asked you several times to trim that TRIBUTE TO YOURSELF signature that I had to scroll through all the numerous times a day you have a random thought that you think we all need to share!!!

Put me on ignore now and it will be Even Steven. Later..
You're no bad guy and neither is BBUK. I come and go depending on things. When I'm gone, I'm still here. I immensely enjoy D camaraderie.. A room full of Warriors, Christian and truth seekers helps me. As long as I'm breathing that'll be the case. Saving lives is not easy and actually quite hard.
Your God loves you more than he does me. Enjoy!
That's just B.S.
I'm done until basketball in the Bahama's. See ya.

If you have my phone number, don't be a stranger. I'm old and lonely.
Hey I'm old and lonely too, almost always home, so follow your own advice.
Your posts always brings smiles to the D.. Nice to have your presence. There's always a seat for you at the table.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 80°F and mostly cloudy. Today's high expected around 100°F. Triple-digit streak is alive and well.

Colleague having surgery on Thursday and will be out until I go on vacation. 12 days working with no back up. Hope we're not too busy, but I bet we are.

I've had 4 blackouts since Saturday morning with 115 °F temps. Scary.
Yikes! Literally killer in these temperatures. How long were the outages?

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Happy 247th Birthday, U.S. Army.

Good morning from The Nature Coast

June temperatures continue, we have77 ° and the high will be near 87°. A small chance of rain. I trust all are well and life is good. Busy day ahead. Prayers for the D and it was good to see Bkocats make an appearance. And Rooster, find some shade buddy. Keep cool, calm and collected in that Arizona heat.

Oh speaking of Rooster, he is a character in the movie Top Gun / Maverick. It turns out he is from a little town about 19 miles away from me called Lecanto, FL, population around 5,000. Small world.

Another nearby shooting. SWAT team shot some guy while serving a warrant at In-Town Suites located 1/2 mile from us.

All sorts of news cameras and police cars on site. Crazy.

I hate hearing that Rooster, as no one should have to deal with that. Sadly, they're predicting 2/3 of the nation to experience blackouts this summer.

I've had 4 blackouts since Saturday morning ...
I was very worried about you until I figured out your post Rooster. I haven't had multiple blackouts over a Saturday-Sunday since I stopped measuring my bourbon intake by the pint and put away the Wild Turkey 101...I was pretty much past that phase by 27...My wife, who I met fairly soon after that period, thinks of me as a very moderate drinker, never drunk and rarely deep enough into it to show even moderate effects. She finds it hard to believe I was coming off a ten-year reign of terror when we met. But I was one of the lucky ones who changed in time.

Back to downtown DC for the job. My personal least enjoyable weather of the year is about now until mid-September, at least when I have to wear button-down business clothes.

Hope it is a good day for all...

It is a cloudy 81.9°F on it way to 96°. We have an 80% chance of rain, so thank goodness for a little cloud cover or it could really get hot.

The rolling blackout have not hit us but they may if AOC and Joe continue their war on fossil fuels.

Joe has declared war on our economy also. It is not his fault but industries fault. He and his advisers are economic dummies.

I may not do much today and plan on limiting my time outside.

Please stop & take a dump in front of the White House for all of us. Thanks.

There were no outages yesterday. Talking with family, these power failures were not widespread. They were short duration 5 to 15 minutes.at 30 minute intervals Friday. Only one Saturday. I'm looking at 100 days of these 100°+ temperatures. I'm thinking about some sort of back up gas generator. If I can find one. We used them for reliable power during our field agricultural irrigation experiments. but fuel was less than $2 a gallon. Now it's $5.59 and rapidly approaching $6.00. Learn from the lizards to limit solar exposure and heat loading and you can likely survive. Noon to 6 pm. will be rough

Wow not sure what’s happened here but it’s definitely not good
Bert told me on Facebook that I needed to come back now..so I did
Now I’m uncertain it was the best idea
It will benefit the D that's for sure. Your unique persona is a blessing for us. We know this and greatly appreciate your efforts and thank you.

It is still good.

Thank you gentlemen

not sure how much of a benefit but all good
I just don’t like seeing conflict like that. The older I get the less I can handle

at any rate..life is crazy busy as usual. We’re still trying to settle into our house; especially now that our older son moved back in and we have his little girl with us too about 95% of the time
Younger son is still struggling..they finally determined he is likely autistic (well no duh) and he’s having a formal evaluation on the 30th
Still not happy about the state of our basketball program or our coach, but can’t dwell on it right now

hoping that this time around in the D there will be more interaction and not just everyone liking my posts

hugs

The good part of the D-League is you can say what you want. We are here.

We need girls. You basically are the only one that will tolerate a bunch of old men.

Well, I'm happy to interact. Like you Bev, I have two young adults back in my home temporarily - my 25-year-old daughter moved back from Austin, Texas and is working as an elementary school teacher at a Waldorf Academy (school for kids of rich hippies) in Bethesda, Maryland. My son is home from Lexington. He's working driving a moving truck and taking a couple summer school UK classes. He got set back a bit by COVID forcing all classes to be remote. He hated that, and went from a dean's list kid to essentially whiffing a semester.

I'm a bit less pessimistic than some about the state of UK, though I don't blame anyone for being upset. I keep focusing on the fact that Kentucky blew out the two teams that ended up playing for the title. Things went badly wrong after that, but I believe the team UK had last year had the potential to be one of the best in the country. And I think on paper the team SHOULD be better in the coming year.

Glad you are occasionally weighing in Bev. I wish you and your family well.

Speaking for myself, I certainly have opinions. At least two about everything, so I try to stick to statistically verifiable fact but in today's world with data manipulation to promote disinformation designed to confuse as a strategy, I've become more reserved . I see how I've been been foolishly complacent. I often utilize the like toggle as a bookmark. In your case, I enjoy your posting and do like them. But I adore your feminine perspective as mine, at times, seem eat up with testosterone. My loyal wife informs me that I frighten others. You always help me help me with that rough edge. Looks like I need to be more creative in my interactive support and I need to get started, grow up, act my age and stop peeping through the keyhole.

I feel much the same. I'm not sorry Sheldon left. I'm a little peeved he wasn't prepared and ready to contribute when needed. I'm hoping that he got his ass chewed, he was on the bench. Now he's damaged goods and charcter matters now more than ever. And right now his is toast, plus the fact, this damaged Cal, UK, therefore the state. Everyone must have known that would result. Obviously the situation was handled poorly. I'm hoping Cal took the punch to cover for him and don't kneed to know. But I'm disappointed with the outcome. I expect better management. Oscar's team will run smoother without as much ass kissing. My only concern is team depth as both Wheeler & Fredrick have shown fragility. A weakness other schools will likely exploit when they feel it's their only chance to win and mentored by selfish overpaid coaches. Finger crossed.

The health factor is key Rooster, and I share your concerns. Tell me UK has an injury-free run like 2011-2012 and I'll predict an outcome to the season that might rival those two years.

Otherwise, across all five positions I'm optimistic. Specifically, I think a healthy Fredrick will really surprise people, I think Reeves is being a bit undervalued, I think the two freshmen are the best in-coming duo since Fox and Monk, and I think Toppin and Collins is a big upgrade over Brooks and Toppin.

But I'm always a rosy prognosticator in the summer. And here's why: If you are a Kentucky basketball fan year-round, then April 15-October 15 represents half the year that YOU CAN CONTROL. Get excited and optimistic, and you enjoy that half much more.

So spent 2 hours this pm logging into airline sites of two I don't often use to pick seats for our Sept. Greece tour with a 3 days stop in London first. We had this planned for March 2020 & something got in the way 10 days before we were leaving. I can't recall what. Anyone? The tour company wouldn't refund our money but we got full credit for the same trip. So that's what we're doing now but added the London part on our own. We're over there. Why not?

Now here's the deal. Because of the London stop, we had to make our own flights. For the three flights controlled by AA, picking seats (After all the passport/contacts/etc. rigamarole), the charge for seats selection was zero. But, British Airways charged $300 for six seats selections, today, on their three flights. But they're free one day before departure - LOL. How they get away with that in Europe I have no idea. Fare was like $1800 each RT before that with Prem economy for the pond crossings portion.

We had to cancel a France trip due to our planned leaving date of 09.13.2001.

This pretty much sums it up for me as well Rooster. I would love to see us add one more piece, a combo guard type. I'm not expecting a 5* type either. A transfer from lower level school, that fills the need and wants the blue blood experience would be fine. A Nate Sestina type.

For me the Oscar effect. Not BS artists. Love players who show up & want to represent. Win or lose, I'm a fan of good guys.
Oscar plus successful Bahamas trip igniting the sunshine pump can only be exciting as . . .

games haven't been played and anything/everything possible.

There will always be those troublesome PissAnts.
Sport can be fun/inspiring relief, allowing societal tribalism within a framework of defined rules of civility encouraging fair play.
