D-League

Can you imagine some of the old 50s, 60s black sports stars kneeling and doing some of the nonsense they do today? Willie....no way. I imagine his (and others) parents had some tough times with racism and financial, but they obviously taught their kids respect. There's little of it today.

A very simple concept; "respect". To get respect, you have to "give" respect.

Got up early and took the step-grandson to an area lake. He's going into the third grade...so he/we had fun.
Using warrior's scorecard....

Don't let him fool you. WC has a friend at the local fish market. The brother is holding up a frozen fish some of those times. 🤭

Good morning D

All of these high temperatures you folks are posting makes me want to find a shade tree and find a seat. It must be July.

Down here we will have a warm day but nothing like Kentucky or Texas. Our high a the moment is 79° and the winds are West at 14 mph. We have a 12% chance of rain and the high will reach 87°. Plenty of sun for those who need a tan.

I am planning a couple of day trips, one down to Naples and the other on the East coast, yet to be determined. Take care all

The12 percent chance of rain in your post caught my eye as I was taking a break from yard mowing. Our local forecast, from Bowling Green, gave 0 percent chance of rain. Well, it’s coming down pretty good as I type. Us farmers despise weathermen, but ironically, only loathe weather women.

My wife works in a Johns Hopkins-owned hospital in suburban DC, as I've mentioned. She just texted me that although they have ZERO Covid patients right now, the hospital was going from green status to yellow - which means that families can't visit ANY patient, and so on. All because of the CDC. Seems goofy to me.

Just saw a news bit that said mask mandates are on for K-12 schools in Kentucky this coming school year. Andy strikes again.

Well my avocado crop is pretty much wiped out by critters. Squirrels, coons, possums and groundhogs have taken their toil on my tree. An avocado is pretty much free from insects and common diseases that an orange tree would have but critters are the problem. They can wipe you out.

I counted 21 seeds on the ground this morning and so far I have lost over 100. They eat the peeling, fruit and leave the hard seed scattered on the ground. It is too late to stop them this year but next year I will be ready.

The lesson in this is you can not grow fruit trees and plants next to a swamp. A swamp is beautiful and the wildlife are plentiful but you don't farm next to one
I live about five air miles from the court house downtown Louisville........I have trapped 25 ground hogs in my yard in three years......I don't count possums and raccoons.....I even caught a red ear slider turtle last week......just put a small crack in her shell........I cleaned her up and sterilized the crack and sealed it with crazy glue and set her on her way..........I just planted two new lillys in my fish pond.......I don't want to feed the turtles with them.......

High 90's to low 100's this week and the next. Haven't been fishing for a few weeks now. Need to wait until the mornings start out in the 60's and cloud cover before I go back. 70's for starters here quickly ramp up to 80's and 90's. Plus, got a new pup, she is 4 months old and already 45 lbs. Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. Name is Anatolia. Got a vet appointment for Monday.

When I was a kid we had turtle meat very often. Called them "cooters aka Gopher Tortoise ". They made great soup and you could fry them like you would chicken fried steak. No more because they are a protected species. My mama had a great recipe for Cotter Pie. It was good for goodness sake. Get a cooter and wait for him to stick his head out and whack it off so mama's says. I have to settle for fresh picked corn on the cob tonight and grilled sirloin. Dang it

That is one big puppy.
Yep, already 45 pounds at 4 months. Anatolian Shepherd and Pyrenees mix. Both are big dogs. Anatolian Shepherds get real big. She joined us last weekend from another couple who kept her outside 24/7 so, house training is in session. I keep her in most of the days since it reaches near around 95 to 100° everyday here and me plus my daughter keep our eyes on her so as to catch her before she decides to go. She sleeps outside mainly at night except the last 2 nights. I have slept on the couch with her in the living room since she has started getting the idea that the bathroom is outside. I never sleep through the night anyway and she has had no mishaps because I take her out about 3 times during the night. Still a little ways to go but, she is lasting longer during the day now before needing to go out.

I predict the dog will be spoiled, most likely by your daughter.

Morning good folks of the D-League. It is 79.5°F on the back porch with bright sunshine. We are to get 93° this afternoon. It will go higher unless clouds move in. But as Sawnee says it is late July and what do we expect.

The current Kentucky Governor, Andy's father was a friend of mine when I was Mayor and he was Governor. Steve was, I though, a middle of the road Dem who would bend if necessary. Every time he would come into this area he would call and ask Sherry and I to back him up. I held him in high regard until he did the Dem response to Trumps first address to the nation and Steve really showed his ass. I now regret supporting him. His son is far worse.

I am still a John Kennedy Democrat, but my party has gone off to the left so far that John Kennedy today would be a right wing Republican like me. I have never seen a party change positions so quick. The socialist wing of the Dems has taken over. At the State and National level I don't see myself ever voting for a Democrat again.
Bert I had been a registered Democrat all my life, but I change my party affiliation to Republican in 2019. I don't feel like I left the Dems, just that they left me. Seems like they are all nuts in every sense of the word. Western Kentucky has always for the most part been a Democratic strong hold, but not any more. Little Andy is eat up with Liberalism!

More me than her really. She is on the computer a lot during the day so, the puppy with me and the other 3 dogs (2 adults and a 8 month old puppy) hang around on the couch or the living room floor. Below is a picture of my right leg on the couch with the 8 month old. She is a Pyrenees/St. Bernard/Boxer mix. I think the boxer controls a lot of what she is. Below that is a picture of the 8 month old lying with the 95lb 10 1/2 year old Pyrenees mix. Yeah, we like the Pyrenees mixes.

Man,
I know a few that complain about the heat then complain about the cold. Never satisfied.... Geez.... Pick one or the other to complain about but don't pick both. As for me, I won't complain about the heat, I can throw a glass of water on my self to cool down but if it gets much below 70 I have my long-handles on...or at least within grasp.

Man-O-Man.... ;)
OK, I'll just complain about 70+ dew points.

Anybody ever have a cat that would play fetch? My wife keeps throwing this rubber wristband and her cat fetches it and brings it back up on our bed, then gets all psyched to chase it again.

I can’t decide if I’m impressed or if the cat is just doing it to let me know my wife is more interested in him than me.

I have one that gets up in your face nose to nose if you try to ignore him and he wants to get your attention. I will be sitting on the couch and if he wants my attention he will get in between me and what ever I have in my hand (today the laptop) and put his nose against mine until I comply.

We had a cat that played fetch. Crazy. She also enjoyed french fries.
