MdW...what area do you live in the DC area? Just curious. I spent 9 plus years in that area...working in DC and living in Frederick, MD. I HATED DC but I did love Frederick, MD and especially western MD.

Anyway, hopefully you'll escape that mess in the near future...unless you like it.

Forced myself to listen to our guvnah this afternoon. I'm really afraid we might be heading towards another lockdown and mask mandate. If that happens I might wind up in jail for non-compliance.
I didn't bother listening to the Love Gov but I figured that he probably wants to go back to MASK ON. I guess he likes being a one term Gov.

CatinIl: I live in Montgomery County, about 30 miles due south of Frederick. If you were commuting from Frederick you passed by my stomping grounds on your way.

I’m walking distance from the subway but still in an area that isn’t overly developed - single family homes on decent sized lots, some woods and a good sized lake nearby.

I like it here fine. I’m a history buff and never get tired of exploring that aspect of the region, love the Smithsonian Museums, and spend lots of weekends hiking in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. There are things that aren’t perfect, of course, but I can roll with all that.

Yep, I rolled right by that area EVERY MORNING. When I moved to the DC the first time it was the Quince Orchard Cluster APTs. there in MD just outside of DC. Then the second time was Frederick/New Market , MD. Much better. The one thing I miss about living in that area was bike riding through the National Battlefield parks...

Other than that, I don't miss the DC area...I did my time there...

Many feel that way, including lots of my home town buddies. I get where they are coming from.

All I can say is for my particular blend of interests, it fits me very well. To watch a play at Ford’s Theater under the booth where Lincoln was shot, to bike out to George Washington’s Mt Vernon, to have brunch in Martin’s Tavern where JFK proposed to Jackie, or in the Chinese Restaurant on Connecticut Avenue where Kissinger met in secret with Chinese diplomats to iron out Nixon’s visit in 1972, to meet visiting friends at the hotel where both the Battle Hymn of the Republic and the “I Have a Dream” speech were written, these are the kinds of things I never get tired of.

That's the thing, there's SO MUCH to see/do in the DC area. BUT, it can suck so much as well.

With that said, I would love to live up in the Gettysburg, PA or Harpers Ferry WV area...or especially Cumberland, MD...but that's NOT going to happen. But like I said before, I did my time in the DC area. [laughing]

How Great Thou Art... Canyon Junction

Matthew Hagee sings solo some about midway through. The entire rendition is a good one. This singing seems to be in honor of Pastor John Hagee who they show a glimpse of at the end.

Just an aside; while we attended Cornerstone, early in our attendance I was anointed by Pastor John Hagee in a long line of other people one service. While I was thankful to be prayed for and receive a blessing, It was like he sopped a biscuit and dabbed it on my head. He spared no expense on the anointing oil in my case anyway. (Brings a tear when I think about it.)(I probably needed it.) It may only be me (But that's okay) as I have been anointed by other Pastors.

Once years ago in the Detroit area during a Bill Gaither concert. (It was a pastor that was at the singing.) The singings back in the day were no where near as large as they later became.

Another aside, Pastor John Hagee used to play a heck of a saxophone...

I have never understood the banning process. Especially the Political Board. Politics will breed controversy and differences. It is expected. About the only reason to ban someone is if they are vulgar in their language. And I know you are not that type of a person.

But liberals love to squash freedom of speech and it seems most of the moderators are liberal leaning. It is what is it.. If I ever get banned I will call Bert so he can get out the word.

I appreciate the kind words, but I can be vulgar at times. One of my worst habits when it comes out. I do my best to keep it clean, but lately I've just gotten real tired of trying to lead some folks to reason and actual thinking/ researching/common sense.... any of it.

Some of this is grade school level stuff, but people are so brainwashed and ideologically motivated that they don't understand when someone is abusing them and their trust.

Well.....it seems once again I have spoken out of turn as they say................we were on the deck when the Director announced we was going to can more green beans.......so we picked almost two 5 gal buckets full........probably enough for three runs in the pressure cooker......(21 quarts)........I thought we had enough green beans in the pantry for the next ten years.......teaches me for talking out of turn......
That's awesome!

September 4th is getting close and still no word on who gets the nod as starting QB. My guess is either Gatewood or Levis.

As good of a guess as any. I just want them to give all of the QBs a fair shot at the job through fall camp. REALLY wish they had some practices on to the public. Miss that a ton. Used to go with a friend and he taught me a ton about what to look for from different position groups. Got me fired up for football

Good morning from ATX. Currently 78°F and clear. Today's high may again approach 100°F.

Received an invite yesterday for our annual SEC Kickoff Picnic on August 28. COVID cancelled last year. I'll definitely attend. Free food, free beer. No, I won't handle the keg this time around. [winking]

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Good morning D-League. Warm and hazy in the east. I’m walking off a twinged back this morning.

Last night my wife wanted a bunch of old heavy furniture moved outside for a junk pick up. I waited for my 21-year old son to get back from a weekend long-distance moving job. Then we made short work of it. But it took a hell of a lot more out of me than out of him.

I hope it’s a pain-free day for all in the D-League.

I’d Rather Have Jesus/Great Is Thy Faithfulness -Canton Junction (Again)

Just a blessing to me at this time and place... I needed it.

Oh, God will and DOES provide. EXACTLY when you need him EVERY time. May you be truly thankful for God's love and mercy. God's mercy makes this world tolerable. Take God to your heart. God Bless you all...

I understand, I too dislike ignorance and the political board is full of ignorance. I go over there for entertainment as I enjoy AustinTX showing libs just how foolish they are. Not that they understand, but I do.

I found you can not change their mind and a liberal does not understand logic. I suppose most of them have been indoctrinated by public schools and are the type who can not think and reason on their own. So they end up falling for every idiotic thing that comes from liberalism.

So I post a few things and get a lot of laughs from reading the posts. It does hurt knowing so many UK fans are far left crazies but some of the people posting over there are not UK fans so it balances out. I found out the liberals do not have a brain to reason an issue and common sense is one thing that was left out when their tiny brains were formed.

KEEP THE FAITH, WE WIN IN THE END.

Good morning D

All of these high temperatures you folks are posting makes me want to find a shade tree and find a seat. It must be July.

Down here we will have a warm day but nothing like Kentucky or Texas. Our high a the moment is 79° and the winds are West at 14 mph. We have a 12% chance of rain and the high will reach 87°. Plenty of sun for those who need a tan.

I am planning a couple of day trips, one down to Naples and the other on the East coast, yet to be determined. Take care all

I lived in Eldersburg, MD for 6 years. I avoided DC except to go to the Smithsonian a couple times a year. It is a good area. My wife's Ritter side of the family came through Frederick on their way to Kentucky.

I would be banned in no time on the political board. My political fuse is short.

Morning good folks of the D-League. It is 79.5°F on the back porch with bright sunshine. We are to get 93° this afternoon. It will go higher unless clouds move in. But as Sawnee says it is late July and what do we expect.

The current Kentucky Governor, Andy's father was a friend of mine when I was Mayor and he was Governor. Steve was, I though, a middle of the road Dem who would bend if necessary. Every time he would come into this area he would call and ask Sherry and I to back him up. I held him in high regard until he did the Dem response to Trumps first address to the nation and Steve really showed his ass. I now regret supporting him. His son is far worse.

I am still a John Kennedy Democrat, but my party has gone off to the left so far that John Kennedy today would be a right wing Republican like me. I have never seen a party change positions so quick. The socialist wing of the Dems has taken over. At the State and National level I don't see myself ever voting for a Democrat again.

I'm getting caught up on my recordings of Mountain Men, All the shows are in the fall or winter...

GIVE ME SOME SNOW RIGHT NOW!

Man,
I know a few that complain about the heat then complain about the cold. Never satisfied.... Geez.... Pick one or the other to complain about but don't pick both. As for me, I won't complain about the heat, I can throw a glass of water on my self to cool down but if it gets much below 70 I have my long-handles on...or at least within grasp.

Man-O-Man.... ;)

Depending on the time Bert, her family probably knew my family which had a "plantation" - probably a good sized farm -- along the Monocacy River just south of Frederick in the early 1700s...

Well my avocado crop is pretty much wiped out by critters. Squirrels, coons, possums and groundhogs have taken their toil on my tree. An avocado is pretty much free from insects and common diseases that an orange tree would have but critters are the problem. They can wipe you out.

I counted 21 seeds on the ground this morning and so far I have lost over 100. They eat the peeling, fruit and leave the hard seed scattered on the ground. It is too late to stop them this year but next year I will be ready.

The lesson in this is you can not grow fruit trees and plants next to a swamp. A swamp is beautiful and the wildlife are plentiful but you don't farm next to one.

Good morning D, another hot and humid day here, had a good two mile walk this morning before 7, about the only time to walk!!!!

Nothing going on today, but I am going to have to stain my deck again before long!!!!

I like watching animal shows, I was watching one about Koala's and Sea Turtles this morning, catching them and putting bands on them. I can't help but start thinking when they get back to other Koala's and turtles they tell them, there I was and bam, next thing I know they are poking and prodding on me, I see these bright lights and I end up with this collar on me, it's aliens I tell you!!!!!

I hope the D has a great day and Prayers!!!!

I used to be pretty much middle of the road politically. I would even debate with myself whether I was going to vote for the D or R. I even thought Obama was dealt a bad hand in 2008 and gave him some leeway. But I voted for that "maverick" McCain (this was before he became a RINO). I even thought about voting for Obama in 2012 because I didn't care for Mitt Romney that much (and now I know why). But I didn't because I thought Obama would go full blown lib when he no longer had to worry about getting re-elected. And boy, did he ever. He led to Democratic party off the rails to what it has become today. Like you, as much as I have disdain for the country club Republicans, I would never vote for a Democrat again.

Say Hey...

One of my favorite players... Just remarkable...
Can you imagine some of the old 50s, 60s black sports stars kneeling and doing some of the nonsense they do today? Willie....no way. I imagine his (and others) parents had some tough times with racism and financial, but they obviously taught their kids respect. There's little of it today.
