D-League

Yeah, good old Air Raid. Developed by Hal Mumme and Mike Leach. The offense works great with the right personnel, but as witnessed earlier this season, not so good when timing is way off. Anyway, Mike Leach was our OC for two seasons. It was a lot of fun.

Seeing the choppers and you guys talking about them brought back some hard memories. I used to sometimes watch them attacking a position on the side of a mountain at night. A mini-gun was capable of 6000 rounds a minute. One could theoretically put a round in every square yard of a football field in 40 seconds and there would always be more than one chopper. At night all you could see was the tracer rounds. It was like giant birds pissing streams of red fire.

Good morning from

Woke up to another chilly day and it is currently 45°. The overall weather is fair and we have some fog coming off of the lake in the back. It will be a calm day with no active alerts in the Gulf. If you go out take a wind breaker with you. Our high will be 69°F. The sun will be out strong to burn the fog off of the lake

Yesterday my wife and I decided we wanted some fresh seafood so we went to a nice restaurant and took in the Early Bird Special. It was about 4:00 but the restaurant was busy and had a lot of customers for that time of day. No one was wearing a mask, other than a couple of waitresses. Ours did not. My wife commented we are fortunate because in some parts of America people are not allowed to enjoy what we have here, the opportunity to live your life as usual with very few restrictions. So God is Great and good all the time.

Trust you have a nice day and are feeling well.

Did you ever run in the Law Day Run? I did it every year I was there and won it a couple of times. Our unit won the unit level competition as well.
I never participated in that particular run. My roommate, Bill Inglehart, ran on our BN team as I recall. A couple other runs were held back then, if memory serves me correct. I was not a great runner. My 2-mile times usually hovered in the 12s and 13s. On a few occasions, I participated in 10Ks for fun, but could never really compete with you guys.

Good morning D, beautiful day here, high supposed to be 64.

When I fry up fresh sausage I always take the littles pieces that fall off the patties then put them on the platter then eat the little crunches' like a treat. Well did that Sunday morning and even chopped some extra little pieces off to enjoy after I fried it up. I got busy doing something else and went back to get them and there was Mrs. M standing there eating eating all of them and saying these are really good and oh were these supposed to be yours? Got to hid them better next time. Also scrambled some eggs in the same skillet, she said I have never had chocolate eggs, excellent eggs!!! Sausage grease scrambled eggs are, goooooooood!!

Made my grandsons a TBL CHRISTMAS ornament yesterday, painted Stepaw on the back so they will remember who made it for them!! I made two other ornaments out of Whispy glass, if you have never seen that type of glass, find it and look at it, beautiful glass!!!

One of my friends made it thru shoulder surgery ok, really long therapy road ahead of him!!!

I hope the D has a great day, peace my friends!!!

Spent a month in Alaska mid January-February 92 winter training and saw them for the first time. very impressive.
Same, Warrior Cat. Only time seeing Northern Lights was in Alaska, back when I was a (relative) kid of 20 in 1976. I always wanted to experience it again, but have heard nothing indicating they might be visible in Maryland.

I have been seeing an unusual number of falling stars on my nighttime walks. And the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is coming - I believe I've seen them edging closer together, but am no astronomer. And Mars has been blazing in the sky this year, closer than for many years.

On the matter of events from beyond our world, I offer up this story my son sent me overnight. Sounds like a guy whose brain has slipped out of gear, but some will find in interesting, or amusing: (I'm looking at you *CatinIL*)

Shoulder surgeries are tough. Generally, they have to sleep in a chair, for a while.

That would be the Geminid Meteor shower Mr. 55

I have been thru two of those Mr. Ben, slept in a recliner for a while! I think I need it in my right shoulder again, but don't want to go thru that again!!! Rehab is a killer!!! It's like the PT told me, do your exercises so your shoulder won't freeze up and if you don't do them, we will unfreeze that shoulder!!!!

Sir,
My son had shoulder surgery (He could throw over 85mph back then accurately. Just didn't love the game enough.) when he was 15 or 16. (He is 35 now soon to be 36 Dec 19th).

As he came out of anesthesia it was the most pain I have ever seen anyone have with any surgery I have witnessed. I cried with him and for him at that time. It hurt me deeply and still hurts me when I think about the pain he had.

Oh and a great morning to you and all. I pray today for all here who need the touch of God in a supernatural way to where Christ's love can be made real to you in a personal way.

God Bless you!

I know what you mean. Several times my wife, or one of my children, have had to endure the pain from surgeries. Every time, I wish I could swap places with them, because it hurts to watch them go through it. Plus, I'm pretty good with pain.

I married a couple aboard a helicopter flying over Camarillo CA about 1980. The pilot, me and the couple. It was so loud I had to shout. The story made the newspaper. That couple is still married.
That's awesome.

I've flown extensively by helicopter, especially 2005-2006. The screaming noise was sometimes nearly unbearable without earplugs or headset. It probably explains my current hearing loss.

12's and 13's was well above average for the 2 though. My best ever was 10:57 for 2 but mostly low 11's. I actually held paces better in the longer ones because that's what I trained for. My last 2 mile was about 4 months before I retired and I was 39. Came in 3 seconds faster than the post Sergeant Major at 12:14 with a last 30 second hard kick to catch him and beat him which pissed him off because I came in first.

That was actually 82 when I went. Realized when I read your post that I fat fingered the key board.

Did you run it in combat boots. We had to run all events or tests in combat boots back when I was in uniform

Wasn't the PT max time for the two mile run 12:03 or something like that? (In the 19/20 year old range Anyway), I maxed the run one time at Ft. Huachuca, had the NCO of the year as my Platoon Sergeant during that time. Never had any legs but I could climb any rope hand over hand. Climbed many PT ropes that way. Had a great upper body, just never had any legs but I loved that Sergeant to where I pushed and pushed myself to max that test. I think he even said 12:03 a couple times to get me the max time.

Great times. You were cooking.

I ran my last 2-mile about a year before retiring. My run may have been in the high 13s back then. My best times came around age 27 in 87 or 88 because I watched my calories (and chased females). Got my weight down below 150 lbs. Overeating was my biggest problem when back in the rear and not in the field or deployed.

We ran in combat boots during basic/AIT (OSUT, Fort Benning), 1980-81. When I attended AIT after changing my MOS end of 1984, running shoes were the standard. Reason: shin splints. During all the service schools I attended thereafter, we ran PT in running shoes.
