My former student, Jeremiah Fears, is crushing it for Oklahoma (he hit the game winner this week).

I'm very proud of the young man. I was hoping UK could get him in the portal after this season to be our third guard (he's close with Jasper Johnson and he also loves Mark Pope), but he might not be around next year if he keeps playing like this. He's now averaging 18 pppg, 4 rpg, and 5apg while shooting 50% from the field, 34% from three, and 86% from the foul line. He should be a senior in high school. He reclassified.

He hit a four-point play this week and scored 30 points for Oklahoma to take down Michigan. The young man is surpassing my expectations. We're all very proud of Jeremiah. Check out the last minute of this game:

I know me too! He isn’t on any mocks that I’ve found so far, but it’s way too early to tell. I’m kinda hoping he gets overlooked so we could have a shot to get him in the portal. He is a baller.

He had a great game but the foul call on the last 3 pointer was a BS call. There would have been no contact had he not thrown his hands and feet into the defender. That kind of crap drives me insane and refs calling it only contributes it happening more and more.

If you watch closely I thought the same thing. The second defender(guy to his right) hits his arm and that’s what they called I believe. I had to replay it a couple times because I thought he sold it at first too. Probably a little to close guarding when at worst he just tied the game.

Coach K was the first to teach this flop style maneuver and it worked his entire coaching career.

I did not watch closely enough to see if it was truly a foul, but I appreciated that the ref made the call before the ball went through the net (that was how it appeared on my phone). There did not seem to be any influence by whether it was made or missed. The leg buckle move after the shot, however, did have me skeptical.

This is just an amazing story definitely would be awesome if he would end up in the blue and white thanks to the transfer portal!

Thank you for the kind words. It's rare that a kid from Joliet breaks through on the higher levels athletically.

I do love those Sooner transfers.

Make it happen SonOfSaul.

Come on Santa! @Son_Of_Saul has been flawless this year. Make his Christmas wish come true!
He was a big Tyler Ulis fan when he was in my class. He became an avid UK fan around his freshman year. I used to show highlight videos of the 2015 team to Fears and his teammates during down time in class.

UK was his "dream school," but when he reclassified, we already had Butler and Kriisa coming in. Fears wanted to be at a place where he would needed from day one.

I'm hoping that he gets feedback to come back to college, and then ends up at his blueblood dream school, Kentucky. There's still plenty of minutes available at lead guard, as I still see Lewis as our third guard in the rotation.

Kid is a baller and you’re awesome. I hope it happens man. That’s one NIL I’d be down to throw a couple hundred at.

They don't play the same position. Fears is a ball-dominant lead guard. Oweh plays off the ball.
I completely agree with that but I don't see the minutes to entice Fears to come here. I expect Lewis and Johnson to share the point something like 75/25 and Johnson and Oweh to share the off guard spot about 50/50.

Fears and Johnson could both play 28 to 30 minutes per game. Lewis could play the remaining 18 to 24 minutes. Perry and Chandler haven't show me they're ready for a real rotational output yet.

Plus, I just can't see Pope playing an all-freshmen backcourt. Can you?

You have Fears, Johnson and Lewis splitting the full 80 minutes at the guard positions; no Oweh, who is a consistent double-figure scorer and makes big plays all over the court. The whole point of my initial post was that if Oweh returns, he will command 20-25 minutes at the off guard and the remaining 55-60 minutes won't satisfy Johnson, Lewis AND Fears.. If Oweh leaves, then I am definitely on board for Fears with the hope Johnson will wreak Oweh-like havoc on the glass and defensively.

Put Oweh at the three spot. There's your solution. He's more of a natural three anyway. He's been playing the three a lot this year and he played it every game for Oklahoma last year.

We absolutely certain Oweh is back next year? Seems like he could be a solid reserve in the league. Not sure his ceiling gets much higher than that.

The few mock guys I've seen mention Oweh have him outside the top 60 prospects. Subject to change as the year goes on, but he'd stand to make more money coming back for a senior season rather than what would probably only be a guaranteed G-League spot

I wanted Fears when he reclassified, but knew that he wouldn’t come here due to Butler and Kriisa being on the team.

I had hoped, like others on here, that he would transfer in after this season, but the way he is playing, I think he is NBA bound after this season. He has too much potential.

But if he was to transfer, he’s the starting PG for us next season.

PG Fears/Lewis
SG Johnson/Perry
SF Oweh/Chandler/Noah
PF Wilson/Portal
C Garrison/Moreno

The starting five would be about as athletic as you could ask for.

That’s the dream lineup, IMHO.

But as I said, Fears is likely NBA bound. He’s athletic and is shooting it better than expected. And at 6’4, he has great size for his position.

Hate that we missed out on him.
