Wasn't the PT max time for the two mile run 12:03 or something like that? (In the 19/20 year old range Anyway), I maxed the run one time at Ft. Huachuca, had the NCO of the year as my Platoon Sergeant during that time. Never had any legs but I could climb any rope hand over hand. Climbed many PT ropes that way. Had a great upper body, just never had any legs but I loved that Sergeant to where I pushed and pushed myself to max that test. I think he even said 12:03 a couple times to get me the max time.
Yes.

Speaking of helicopters and air planes, the first picture below is one of 2 Apache Attack helicopters that tagged along with us in Iraq to keep tanks off our butts and the second picture is of the Chaparral mobile anti air missile launch system to keep aircraft off our butts.

Early on (76-80?) but, in the early 80's we switched to running shoes.

I was in the first basic training unit at Leonardwood that allowed running shoes versus boots. (February of 82) The way I ran it didn't matter anyway but I did buy the best pair of shoes I ever had in basic. New Balance, I will never forget those as it was the first decent pair of shoes I ever owned. (I loved the boots too and kept them in top shape. Both pair and I was thankful.)

I wore Adidas while on the HS track team. New Balance gained a lifelong customer (me) after basic training. Hated running in those damn combat boots. My 2-mile run times decreased by 3 minutes after graduation.

Happy 45th Birthday goes out to the sharpshooter from Lex-Dunbar.

Morning Legionnaires! TGIF for those who are working. Be safe out there.

Since we were posting about Alaska as well as other things yesterday I thought I would post a couple of pictures of my time in Alaska. Just a little cross country trek: For those that know what I am talking about look at the boots. Mickey Mouse variety only white in first photo, and the 10 man tent with Yukon stove in the second. Loved that stove.

Below are wild camel roaming around in the Saudi Desert and then a picture of our sleeping arrangement in Saudi tents. Notice how much space there was between bunks. Our gear on the cot when we weren't in it and at our feet when in the rack resting.

Sometimes I had to go up in the mountains of Turkey. There were often camel caravans and sheep herders. Never got pictures though. Sleeping in tents and hearing wolves at night who were following the sheep.

Good morning D-League. Hope all is well.

Anybody have a MacBook laptop? I'm trying to figure out how to post photos here that I have in a digital file that don't appear to have a URL...These are j-pegs, for the most part. In other formats, you can just post them from your desktop or by dragging.

Thanks for any help.

Good morning D, beautiful day here but it's going to change, rain coming!

Yesterday was an emotional day for me, it was my brothers birthday. Mark drown in a boating accident we had in 1967, he was 9 years old, Labor Day 1967, we were heading down the Green River going squirrel hunting. I still relive every single second of that day every once in a while. I can't even imagine being a parent and grandparent, what my MOM and Dad went thru!!!! My DAD was forever changed on that day! In my MOM'S last few days before she passed away, she didn't remember things that had happened recently, but she could tell you about Mark!!! SHE was the one that held our family together after that day!!!! Sorry D. just had to talk a little!!!

My two friends made it thru surgery ok, the one with the shoulder surgery had to go to the eye doctor the next day with a cut in his cornea. The other friend they are checking him this morning to make sure there are no leaks. He told me that he won't be able to eat anything solid until the 25th, please continue to pray for them!

Got four more TBL and TRL badges to put together, going to bake the glass either this evening or tomorrow, then put them together. Got to ship two of them out Monday if everything goes as planned. While I am waiting I am going to the shop and make some three inch CHRISTMAS bulbs of various colors. Also going to make another TBL bulb for my grandson. I haven't made ornaments in a few years, but now that i am enjoying glasswork again, will make a few to sell and give away!!

Always D, have a great day and prayers for yawl!!! That's Berg slang for yawl!!!!

Are you pasting the URL into the Insert image box located next to the smiley?
Yep. Tried that and "insert link" next to that. Thanks again for the attempted help. No big deal, you are only missing my photo of two bedouins hauling a smiling camel in the back of a Hilux pickup truck in southern Iraq...On the theme of camels started above...

Forgot, I went out this morning about 5, what a beautiful morning!!!Looking at GODS' beautiful dark sky, saw a few meteors, satellites and something I have no Idea what it was, just know it wasn't an airplane! This Dec. 21th thing that's going to happen is making me wanting to drag the old scope out and get a good look at, the last one was in 1623 and I can just barely remember it! It's amazing it's happening at CHRISTMAS time!!

As a test, you might try pasting a URL in a post, post reply and then clicking on the link to check if it resolves.

Jupiter nd Saturn is going to be aligned so close that it's going to look like one big star. Last time it happened, some are saying 1623 and some are saying 1288, just supposed to be a big event for us star gazers! They are supposed to be within 0.1 degrees in alignment. The way I understand the degrees is, if you extend your arm, make a fist with your thumb up that is 5 degrees, that's how you tell how high in the sky something is.

Morning folks of the D-League.

I am going to the Higginbotham/Buckingham cemetery this afternoon for the first time in 67 years. It got cut off with the creation of Mammoth Cave National Park and the building of Park Mammoth Resort. It takes an off road vehicle to get there. David Buckingham, a cousin, got to it Tuesday so he is taking Sherry and I there this afternoon.

I just hope that it is cold enough to have forced the copper heads into hiding.

Y'all have fun, safe travels and hello to Sherry.

Dang, Austin. I thought that would work, but I'm getting an error message. But thanks. I'll keep trying.

If you are posting something someone else posted you may get that message or it is just a permissions thing. I get that when I re-post some facebook items from others that originally posted it. Other facebook items are easy to post. Usually the original poster declines or has a setting to where the post cannot be re-posted.

Thank you BBUK. That might be the issue.

Bert I ran across an interesting article in a magazine this morning of a resident from Smith Grove. His name is Jonathan McChesney and his father ran a Texaco station in Smith Grove. I think Jonathan worked there as a boy. One of the customers was a Kentucky State Police Trooper who was assigned a 1990 Fox Mustang 5.0 out of the Bowling Green post. The car was special made for the KSP and only 4 were purchased by the KSP. Bowling Green got one of them.

As a teenager Jonathan dreamed of owning a Fox Mustang and becoming a State Trooper. He became a State Trooper on February 14, 1999 and on January 23, 2006 he was able to locate the owner of the KSP car he had dreamed of owning as a boy. He bought it and has restored to exactly as it would appear in 1990.

I thought that was a neat story in a national magazine. Here is a photo out of the magazine of the Trooper and his antique State Police car. Do you know any McChesneys in Smith Grove?

If I get to a point in my life I think this is normal, please take me out behind the barn and shoot me. I need to move on to eternity

Dude needs to be Jap-slapped... Just back-handed a time or two...
Agree.

Yeah, we've got 'em around Austin too. Leslie Cochran (1951-2012) was our most famous.
