D-League

A man this state can be very proud of. He should and will go a long way in life. He'll have my vote from here on out no matter what office he runs for.

Can't abandon the rule of law and just railroad people for doing the job they were hired to do when a group of people make threats . A tragedy but tragedies happen every day. Glad I don't live in Louisville.

Mr. Ben, my mom made the fluffy spoon drop ones, do you have a recipe for those or any of the D? We can't figure out how she did them!
This link is how my family does it. When they float to the surface cover then simmer 10-20 minutes. Don't overcook.

Chicken & Dumplings

Ingredients
  • 1 whole chicken insides removed
  • 1 onion quartered
  • 2-3 large carrots cut into thirds
  • 2-3 stalks celery cut into thirds
  • 8 cups chicken broth + additional water to cover
  • salt & pepper to taste
Dumplings:
  • 1 cup self rising flour plus extra for dusting
  • 2 heaping tablespoons shortening
  • a heaping 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup buttermilk or milk
Instructions
  • Combine the chicken, onion, carrots, & celery in a large pot. Season to taste.
  • Add the chicken broth plus water (if needed) to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer covered for 45-60 minutes or until the chicken is tender. While the broth is simmering, prepare the dumplings (recipe below).
  • Remove chicken & vegetables from broth. Discard the skin & bones & chop the remaining chicken; set aside.
  • Ever so gently, add the dumplings to the broth. Simmer about 20 minutes, or until tender.
  • Stir the chicken into the broth. You can add the vegetables from earlier back into the broth at this time too, if desired. I usually opt to not add the vegetables back into mine - personal preference. Cook for an additional 10 minutes on low. Serve.
For the dumplings:
  • Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut the shortening into the flour. Stir in the milk/buttermilk. Grabbing about a heaping tablespoon full at one time, roll into a ball. Roll the dough into 1" balls gently in a little flour.
  • Cook in broth. Again, When they float to the surface, cover then simmer 10-20 minutes & don't overcook.

Monkeys were brought in and are now wild over there. They are a nuisance and can be dangerous. Here they are jumping from trees into the water harassing a kayaker

I had no idea that there were wild monkeys anywhere in the country.
The things you learn on these message boards. We are all smarter for it :)

Me, too. I hope he runs for governor. And, I think that is what liberals cannot understand. Conservatives will vote for a person with conservative ideals, regardless of their gender, or color of their skin.

Wishing only the best for you Ben and a good outcome. Stenosis is worse than a curse and unless you have experienced it is very difficult to explain. But I know your pain. Is this the first surgery? I guess when you get the results of the MRI you will know if they have to do a fusion. What part of the spine is bothering you?

Sawnee, this will be my first surgery. I have already had 2 MRI's, one in 2017, and one this past year. He says I have to have one within 6 months of the surgery, so I'm getting another, and he wants an x-ray, also. He says that he cannot tell enough detail from the MRI, but he believes that he can create space for the nerve without doing a fusion. He says the x-ray should tell him if my discs are good enough that they will hold up, once he cuts some of it away, to make room for the nerve. I have issues with L-1/2 and L3/4. It will be fine for 4-5 weeks and I can do anything, then for no reason, I cannot hardly stand, or get out of bed. Once I get up and walk around for 10-15 minutes, I can function, just not well. It is starting to go from my lower back, into my hips, and down my right leg. It's just time.

I have lower back problems as well, so you have my utmost sympathy Ben. Best of luck with your surgery.

Brings a question to mind. Always see monkeys eating bananas...know nothing about them...what do they eat in the wild?
Monkeys are omnivorous like a human. Silver Springs is a perfect environment for a monkey. They have fruit, nuts, and wild flowers in abundance. They also eat insects lizards and bird eggs.

If you meet one in the wild and want to avoid a problem do not make eye contact. Eye contact is a sign of aggression and they will attack with vengeance. If you go to Silver Springs there are plenty of warning signs.

Good morning from ATX. It's 70°F and partly cloudy. Our high should reach 86°F. Yesterday remained in the 70s for the 3rd straight day. Nice.

Hope things settle down soon around Louisville. Please stay safe if you're in Jefferson County area.

Wishing continued happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

Good morning D League

72° and partly sunny with no rain in the forecast. The high will be 86°. A pleasant day and I hope to get a little yard work and enjoy. It keeps me moving.

Praying for the two police officers who were shot last night in Louisville. Law enforcement is becoming a very dangerous occupation. Some of our cities in America are among the most dangerous places on earth. That is just insane.

I love me some cherry jubilee. Trust you all have a nice day. Be safe

Good morning D! We have rain here in the Berg, I was going to mow, but I guess I will just mowsey around here today!!

Going to go get a Boston Butt here in a few, a family across the field has the rona, so I am going to make some BBQ for them. I am going to let them do a drive by pick-up!

Thanks for the recipe Mr. Rooster going to give it a shot at making them.

Prayers going out to you that are having surgery and those who have lost good friends. One of the guides that guide us on our Trout fishing trip passed away Tuesday. Please say a prayer for that family! You don't know his name BUT GOD DOES!!!!

Late summer recipe, Mrs. M's Peanut Butter Ice Cream!!!!

4 eggs- beat them up
1 3/4 sugar- mix that with the eggs
1 16 oz jar peanut butter, add a little bit of milk to this to start thinning it out
Whole milk- add some more milk as you blend this up, until you can pour it in the can, then add the rest of the milk up to the fill line on the can!
ENJOY!!!!

Didn't know that about diamonds in Arkansas. Panned for gold a few times in North Georgia though.

Mornin' y'all.

One of the things I want to do more than any personal desire I have is to buy a metal detector and prospect. (I like the idea of treasure hunting no matter the size of the treasure.) My wife doesn't like the idea but she does like being out and about walking trails and hills and the ocean.

When I get nearer retirement I may rent a metal detector and get my wife interested that way IF I can find a way to rent one. I know once she finds any little thing she will be hooked. I'd like to do the gold thing and I've seen there are several sites to do that. I know we'd both enjoy it as a past time.

Crater of Diamonds state park is unreal. Every day, someone finds valuable gems there.

I may try panning a couple TN creeks next summer. Say that every year, yet always forget my pan. Planned on panning near our small lot in CO a couple years ago, but my buddy couldn't make the trip.

Won't see any outrage over some coward shooting two officers, just trying to do their jobs.

I got three BBUK, if you need any help let me know!

Morning D-League. It is 64.4°F and overcast. We got .04" of rain yesterday and may get a little today. The high today is supposed to be 68°.

I watched the Kentucky AG yesterday. For six months we have been told the warrant was a "no knock". It wasn't. The Taylor boy friend shot the cop first. I don't know what they expect when you shoot a cop. Why did they not open the door when they knocked? Why did they shoot when they knew it was the police? What were they hiding?

The riots and shooting are just like in the last 60's early 70's. They are thugs looking for a reason to riot.

Thanks there are so MANY on the market where do you turn? I figured on spending a grand or so when I do. Dad had one years ago when I was a kid. It was very simple but I had a blast with it. I know I wasn't more than 14 or so as I moved out on my own the day I turned 16.
Since we live on a very old property (house built in 1850s) a couple of times people have rang the door bell asking if they scour the property with their detectors. I always tell them it's OK. Don't know if they ever found anything of value...but I've always found little areas in the yard or field where they dug a hole then filled back in.
I know there are indian arrows and horseshoes because I've found them just digging to plant trees, bushes, etc.

Oh where are the manners.... No way would I leave your property after your gracious allowance. Just not done. I'd show and tell in that instance and work out a deal. Just my way...

I can only tell you about what I have. I have two Garrett AT-Pro's and a Garrett Ace 350. The Pro's are easy to use and good detectors. I got mine from Kellyco out of Florida. There are some Equinox machines that I hear are good the 600 and 800, 800 will run you around $900.
I just like the Garrett's because of how easy they are to use. I have found coins up to 10" in the ground with mine. I just looked at Kellyco and the AT-Pro will run you about $560. The one thing that you will need is a good pin pointer, Garrett makes a really good one called the Garrett Carrot, I have two of them, maybe $130? I keep looking at some of the more expensive, but I am a pretty simple guy, the more bells and whistles on one the more I get lost, I like plain and simple. The Garrett's are just about, turn them on when you get them and start hunting!!!! One more thing go to youtube or go to Garrett.com each one has some great videos on how to operate them.

I will tell you one thing, learn to "listen" to what your machine tells you, you will understand what I am talking about if you get one. If you need to ask me anything, I will try to help you. Man I would love to hunt in Virginia!!!!
