Since we live on a very old property (house built in 1850s) a couple of times people have rang the door bell asking if they scour the property with their detectors. I always tell them it's OK. Don't know if they ever found anything of value...but I've always found little areas in the yard or field where they dug a hole then filled back in.
I know there are indian arrows and horseshoes because I've found them just digging to plant trees, bushes, etc.
Mr. Colonel would like to hunt your property, most of the time you can't tell I have been there. Trick is, cut a c shaped cut in the ground and lay it back without digging a complete hole. That way not all the roots are cut, will grow back over! If they leave a mess, don't let them back. it's your property!!!!

Thanks there are so MANY on the market where do you turn? I figured on spending a grand or so when I do. Dad had one years ago when I was a kid. It was very simple but I had a blast with it. I know I wasn't more than 14 or so as I moved out on my own the day I turned 16.
That's how I got started back, because of my dad, still have his and it still works. Would love for him to see what the detectors look like now!!!!

Morning D-League. It is 64.4°F and overcast. We got .04" of rain yesterday and may get a little today. The high today is supposed to be 68°.

I watched the Kentucky AG yesterday. For six months we have been told the warrant was a "no knock". It wasn't. The Taylor boy friend shot the cop first. I don't know what they expect when you shoot a cop. Why did they not open the door when they knocked? Why did they shoot when they knew it was the police? What were they hiding?

The riots and shooting are just like in the last 60's early 70's. They are thugs looking for a reason to riot.
Even the local president of the NAACP agrees that the police officers did everything by the book. He's been saying this for weeks plus he condemns the violence. The case was cut and dried but it doesn't seem to matter and that's what sad. Media, Hollywood, politicians, etc. are ripping our AG a new a**hole without any reason.

I can only tell you about what I have. I have two Garrett AT-Pro's and a Garrett Ace 350. The Pro's are easy to use and good detectors. I got mine from Kellyco out of Florida. There are some Equinox machines that I hear are good the 600 and 800, 800 will run you around $900.
I just like the Garrett's because of how easy they are to use. I have found coins up to 10" in the ground with mine. I just looked at Kellyco and the AT-Pro will run you about $560. The one thing that you will need is a good pin pointer, Garrett makes a really good one called the Garrett Carrot, I have two of them, maybe $130? I keep looking at some of the more expensive, but I am a pretty simple guy, the more bells and whistles on one the more I get lost, I like plain and simple. The Garrett's are just about, turn them on when you get them and start hunting!!!! One more thing go to youtube or go to Garrett.com each one has some great videos on how to operate them.

I will tell you one thing, learn to "listen" to what your machine tells you, you will understand what I am talking about if you get one. If you need to ask me anything, I will try to help you. Man I would love to hunt in Virginia!!!!

Thanks I had looked at White models. I don't know any from any though. I look at doing something later within the next year. I will check into the ones you mentioned.

I am hoping that Daniel follows Mitch in six years.

Shrimp boat coming home. I have a childhood friend whose son is a commercial fisherman and he goes out for weeks at a time. He has about 2 million dollars tied up in boats and equipment and does very well. This is a smaller shrimp boat than he operates but the scenery was worth the picture. This was taken off of Hernando Beach

Not sure what type of process is entailed but I could be "gumped". As many times as I have been to the ocean on shore and off I'd have no issue hitting the water very regularly.

Alvan Adams, I remember him, didn't he play for the Chipmunk's!
That was Alvin. I'm a Suns fans or at least used to be. I don't know anything anymore.

Anyway, Alvan really a 6' 9" stretch forward playing center. Killed the lumbering giants but not better than Larry, Magic, and Mike. A very entertaining all-star. One evening he ate 47 chicken wings then the next day matched that with a 47 point performance.

And what would you do if someone broke down your door in the middle of the night? You and I would tell our wives to get down, hide in the bathroom and lock the door, or get in the closet and get low. She was standing right next to this guy, while he was in a shooter's stance. What do people expect? It has gotten to the point where there is outrage over everything. Since it was a white policeman and a black person was shot, then it is disgraceful, and outrageous. They don't care about the laws, they just know that if a white shot a black, then it was wrong and just another display of racial inequality. It's just not so, and I'm glad that we have an AG that realizes that you have to rule by law.

Cord, Spectrum had to come out and install a new, bigger cable into my garage, since the old one was too small to carry the signal good, out that far. But, they don't bury the line. The method you described was how I buried it. Laid it back and put the cable about 5 inches below the surface, then laid the sod back over it. Ran the tractor over it, and you can't tell I had been there.

I was a huge Tom Chambers, Kevin Johnson and Jeff Hornecek fan back in the day. Alvan was great, too. He's still with Suns front office?

Monkeys are omnivorous like a human. Silver Springs is a perfect environment for a monkey. They have fruit, nuts, and wild flowers in abundance. They also eat insects lizards and bird eggs.

If you meet one in the wild and want to avoid a problem do not make eye contact. Eye contact is a sign of aggression and they will attack with vengeance. If you go to Silver Springs there are plenty of warning signs.

Thanks. I am going to try to avoid the wild monkeys here in the Phoenix area if I can.

Use to love buying fresh shrimp off the boats down around Savannah. Beautiful atmosphere.
Not quite as exotic, use to also buy fresh shrimp from back of pickup trucks on the highway to the airport in New Orleans. Shrimp was from Lake Ponchetrain (I believe). They had it packaged in dry ice for your flight home.

One of the things I want to do more than any personal desire I have is to buy a metal detector and prospect. (I like the idea of treasure hunting no matter the size of the treasure.) My wife doesn't like the idea but she does like being out and about walking trails and hills and the ocean.

When I get nearer retirement I may rent a metal detector and get my wife interested that way IF I can find a way to rent one. I know once she finds any little thing she will be hooked. I'd like to do the gold thing and I've seen there are several sites to do that. I know we'd both enjoy it as a past time.

Let me suggest buying a few trinkets of women's jewelry and several dollars in quarters (check with Austin), bury them at various places in some area. Rent or borrow a detector and take your wife out there with you. Excitedly make the finds and give her the loot. You'll be in like Flynn. Tell her that if you had had a better-quality detector you would find more and better stuff.

Another thing OC, ask them when they get done to show you what they find, I always do, it's your property. I always tell the owner that I will show them what I find and if they want it they can have what I find, just want a picture of it. I have only had one person that took everything I found!
