Good Morning D
A beautiful sunrise here with no obvious smoke.

I remember as a boy those discussions at Thanksgiving Dinner. The big names when I was growing up were Lou Thesz, Don Eagle, Nature Boy Buddy Rogers, and Mr Moto. We would argue for hours whether or not wrestling was fake.

"Discussions" would get so heated that grandma would run everybody out of the house to argue out in the yard or better yet go down to the barn. There were many Thanksgiving dinners served with a few of my uncles or cousins at the table with busted heads. It was some serious stuff back in those days.

My daddy had two favorites. Lou Thez and Nature Boy Buddy Rogers. I liked Buddy Rogers and Don Eagle. Lou Thesz was the Champion most of the time
Would that be Tojo YamaMoto?

Ahhhh, the good old days. Arguing about the merits of wrestling during Thanksgiving dinner and not politics.

Rasslin' could not have been fake. I, along with several dozen other people, personally watched several world heavyweight championship matches at the Red Man Hall in Middlesboro, Ky in the 50s.

He was "billed" as being from Japan and since WWII was still pretty fresh on our mind everybody I knew hated him. His famous move was the "karate chop" One little flip and you were unconscious.

He was actually born in Hawaii and served in the U.S. Air Force He had a very famous match with Lou Thesz

One of my high school buddies died. His parents and my parents ran around together.

He was a good basketball player:

We used to watch those guys, too, along with Argentina Rocca, and Killer Kowalski. those two were a little earlier. It was great theater.

So sorry Bert. We are at that age and it hurts. I have a lifelong friend, our grandparents went to the same church, that is to have tests done today to see if cancer has returned for the third time. He also has Parkinson Disease.

He had one of the best gospel voices one could ever wish for. He pastored a church so a life of recording music, etc did not appeal to him. He did record some records but the church took his priority, not musical fame.

Prayers for the family.

My Dr. is going to work on my back. Scheduled to see him on Oct 29, to get new MRI and X-Ray. Suppose my surgery will be between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just can't take it anymore. The stenosis has worsened after a relatively good 5 weeks.
Good luck. Think you mentioned it a couple weeks back when @Sawnee Cat and I were talking about his surgery. Seems you mentioned medicine (?) that he had tried also...or something like that.
Based on what Sawnee said about his surgery...hope yours is not that involved or serious.

Wishing only the best for you Ben and a good outcome. Stenosis is worse than a curse and unless you have experienced it is very difficult to explain. But I know your pain. Is this the first surgery? I guess when you get the results of the MRI you will know if they have to do a fusion. What part of the spine is bothering you?

Since we were talking about old time wrestlers earlier today. Not real old time, but back in the 80s.

WWE Hall of Famer Road Warrior Animal dead at 60

Wow so many die early. Those drug enhancements have to play a part. Some of those dudes are HUGE.

OT: When I attended Cornerstone Church in San Antonio Tully Blanchard was there one service. He is or was in some sort of prison ministry. (It was back in about 2010.) Anyway I stood next to him and actually dwarfed him size-wise. BUT, His hands were HUGE. I never talked to him but he was a small shell of what I saw with the four horseman. I'm 5'11" then probably dressed out at 250. (I've since lost about 45 pounds.. As some of you may attest 250 in SA is a little fella.)

Surprising how many of them go into the ministry. Maybe from seeing the dark side 😉
Tully, Ted DiBiase, Sting got involved but don't know if he ever really got in the ministry, but his brother's a minister in California, and there's a few others.
And yeah, if you start looking at these wrestlers....life expectancy is not that long due to the 'roids.

I am an old white conservative man; however, I am very proud of the Kentucky Attorney General. I will claim him as my kin.

Go Daniel. He is going to do great things in his life.
A man this state can be very proud of. He should and will go a long way in life. He'll have my vote from here on out no matter what office he runs for.

This was taken during the filming of Tarzan at Silver Springs, Florida. When they filmed the movie lots of monkeys were brought in. Many monkey escaped and are now wild along the Silver River. They can be a nuisance

Wow, I have about the full collection if not the full collection of the Tarzan movies Johnny Weismuller made. I enjoy them.
