D-League

Good morning D, it looks like we are going to be hot here again till Friday, then it starts looking more like fall. Not going to do much until this weather breaks, then back to metal detecting.

A little sting was taken away from the game, when the St. Louis Cards won the NL Central, extra special was them whacking the Cubbies!!!!!

One thing for the baseball D, I saw where the strikeouts are at a all time high, so does that mean that the pitchers are better or has the quality of lessened some from all the expansion's? BUT the number of homeruns are up, just a thought!

My grass is starting to look like brown carpet, I am just going to wait it out and mow Friday when it cools down.

We went to a fish fry yesterday at the church that I go on the trout fishing trip with. I think that all of the fish we caught on the trip was just donated back to the church for this fry. It was excellent, but my problem was that we had our homecoming at our church that morning, so I just couldn't put the fish away like I usually do, but I really tried anyway!

I know a lot of the D needs prayers and they are lifted up for you!!!! Ya'll have a great day!!!

If ya'll have to go to the bank this week, please remember to be kind to the tellers!!! This week will be a hard one for them. Mondays are always busy, -Tue-Thur 1st,2nd and 3rd days of the month and Fridays always busy! Be patient please!

It is already 89.6°F on our way to possibly 95°F. Humidity is down to 35% but it is HOT.

The Cats suck at football.

I have to have both hips replaced. Yuk. I am awaiting the verdict on when the first one will happen.
I don't know where you are at Mr. Bert but Owensboro has an excellent surgeon Dr. Milem, he has done both of mine. I never had any trouble almost a year out on my second one. What we liked about him, was before he started my surgery, he asked us if he could pray with us before he started. I figured if he does that he may have a little extra help while he is doing surgery!

One of the most famous catches in MLB history happened 65 years ago today.

I know this was a great catch. Jim Edmonds when he was with the Cardinals made a great over the head layout catch on the track also. ( I think)

Morning D-League. Trying to make the most of my birthday falling on Monday this year.

My dad loved Clemente, which was good because dad was up to go to Crosley anytime one of his favorites came through -- Aaron, Mays, Clemente.

Just typing this about Reds and Pirates brought back a great memory -- my eighth birthday, 9/30 1964.

Reds versus Pirates at Crosley Field.

Jim Maloney versus Bob Veale. Game went something like 17 scoreless innings. My uncle, who was a big overgrown kid in those days muscled the little kids out of the way and got TWO foul balls during BP down the left field line -- and gave them to me as a birthday gift. I was such a nerd kid as the game went well past midnight all I could worry about was that I might miss school. LOL. I think the Pirates won on a squeeze bunt.

It's funny how clear that day 55 years ago is to me, but if someone asked me about any day in the past ten years I couldn't conjure anything like that level of memory.

Man, how I wish I could have been to Crosley field for a Reds game. It was just before my time, as were Aaron, Clemente and other legends of that time. I was only a toddler when Aaron hit his famous homerun. For me, it was Riverfront Stadium for any Reds games.

I truly loved Crosley. Will never love a park the same way, though by all objective measures GABP is a better venue, not to mention the Nationals Park where I go watch the Reds now in DC, or Camden Yards in Baltimore where I went for my baseball fix for years.

That was the era of free tickets for A students, and Sunday School trips to the park once a year, and so on. One way and another I managed to go to about 20 games a year even though we were pretty poor. It was cheap, not only by the standards of the times, but adjusted for inflation.

Here is another World Series catch that gets little recognition today and it literally saved a Prefect Game for Don Larsen in 1956. Few centerfielders could have caught up to the ball but Mantle was at his peak then and made the catch. Centerfield was 457 to home plate.
Mickey won the Triple Crown in 1956, .353, 52HRs, 1?? RBIs, and the next season he hit .365 and finished second to Ted Williams' .388.

Dr. Fee. He is the guy who did my knee. He is in Bowling Green.

Afternoon everybody.
Cannot believe how (expletive) hot it is!
Hit up some garage/yard sales this weekend...the redhead found some toys for the granddaughter
We went out Saturday night w/brother & his wife, it was her b'day. Went to a hole in the wall bar in a semi-sketchy part of E'ville. It is the restaurant that was featured on the TV show Roseanne. In the show it is called "The Lobo Lounge" We loved the pizza.

Drained the hot tub yesterday. Putting it back in the garage for the winter. The redhead said she liked it better in there...plus we didn't hardly use it during the summer. Who wants to sit in a hot tub when its hot?
