D-League

I've been praying the same since the early 1960s.
Family is returning to our lives. I'm still here in Lville off Hurstbourne tying some things up. Schedule is generally flexible and I'm willing to meet up with D-leaguers.

If you come down this way call.

Good Saturday morning D-League

The rain appears to be moving out but it did bring some pleasant temperatures and cool breezes.. Low got down to 69° and our high will be in the high 70's. Might hit 80. .I saw on the local sports report that the Florida Gators have already started Fall football practice. Their first game is August 24. Looks like they are getting a week head start on us because we play on the 31st. Anyway the sounds of pads a knocking is welcome. I am more than ready for football.

Trust all have a nice day.

That would be great! How long you in town for? I'm tied up this weekend but any time next week will work for me. Hopefully others can join us.

Lots of action already today. As I walked toward North Lamar Blvd around 6:15 AM this morning, I noticed a police presence at the corner of Lamar and Provines where the food truck (taco stand) is located. When I turned left on Motheral Drive, my initial thought was I'd finally hit the motherlode.

There, in the middle of the street. lay roughly $300 in various $1 - $20 bills scattered about. Green order tickets were also mixed in with the pile. Immediately, I put 2 + 2 together, gathered all the bills and tickets, and without second thought, headed towards the food truck located roughly 3 doors down around the corner. The business had been robbed and a shot fired. Luckily, no injuries.

Two Austin Police Department SUVs were parked at the stand with blue lights on. Upon arrival, I asked for an for officer. The money and tickets were folded up in my hand. When the APD officer walked up to me, I said, "sir, I found this money and tickets one street over. I would have kept it, but better to do the right thing." I handed him the money and food tickets. The family who runs the stand are Latino immigrants. They've operated the business for a couple years. I believe their daughter was interviewing with an officer as I walked up.

The APD officer, business owner and I walked over to Motheral Steet. I showed both men where I found the loot. The officer took a photo of my ID with his smartphone and I gave him my phone number. I walked off and shook the owners hand as he searched for more money, and wished him good luck.

Later during the morning, I found a total of 25 cents.

As I was reading this I kept thinking what if every American would do this? You are a good man and a blessing. A star has been added to your crown. Thanks for sharing

Went in for my annual physical yesterday. Nothing has obviously worn out since the last one. At my age they sneakily start watching closely for signs of dementia. I said I think I would notice the start of any decline. *She said that I would not notice but that those close to me would. This starts my rounds with the specialists. Coming up in August: Kidney, Heart, Dermatologist, eye exam, new shingles shot. Do this every year. Whew.

*She said one of the main signs of impending dementia was babbling on with random strangers about nonsensical and irrelevant stuff and getting riled up by unknown people while talking about politics. I told her not to worry because I would never do that.

That is a very real possibility. If I can get away to the Pennyroyal you are atop the list.

If you're going to be here until Monday I can wait and visit along with 82, but if not I can come to Louisville today or tomorrow.

Don I trust you had a great birthday and congrats on the move. I lived off of Exit 15 Bald Ridge Marina Rd for over 20 years. I was the first house there. One thing you will notice is a huge drop in property taxes. Lake Lanier is a wonderful place to live and a great lifestyle. I have so many friends there and still keep in touch

You are about to have one more. Fulton Tax: $5,000.00. Forsyth: $700.00

Afternoon D (for you eastern time zone people)
Came in to work this morning, planning to leave at noon.
Not much planned today ... or tomorrow. Got my yard work completed for at least 5 more days.
Wish I could make myself pull the trigger & meet up. According to Google, I'm an hour & 47 minutes to Fourth Street (for reference only).
The redhead works tomorrow from 2-10...
Congrats on the move to the lake Don and impending retirement.

Be that as it may. Enjoy the weekend!

How does lunch sound this week for the D-League? Here's a possible meeting spot in Lyndon (close to Rooster). The place has been around since 1937. It closed for a few years and sold out to an upscale BBQ joint but reopened earlier this year. Haven't been since they closed. 12:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday? Any other suggestions?
