D-League

It is still called that, although we have had very few since Cal arrived.
It seems like we have only had walk ons for the past few years and even with Reid this year, he is not a senior.

Maybe we should call it the "Last Game at Rupp" and invite the one and dones to walk through the ring so we can send them to the NBA with applause and cheers. What ever it is called it is not the same as when Joe B was coach. He took it to another level and it was one of the best scenes in college basketball. The networks had to stop showing it because it was seen as a recruiting advantage.

Just a thought. I have accepted times change. Even UK basketball

Morning D, It was cold when I got up this morning 8 but what a beautiful day!!!!! Up to 20 already! That was a good game last night, always good to leave hostile territory with a win! I to think things have changed, maybe it's a little bit of getting older, but for me I think it's the players not staying more than 1 or 2 years. Most of us can remember them staying all 4 years and really getting to know all about each player. Used to they came to KY because THEY WANTED TO WEAR THE BLUE WITH PRIDE!!!!! Now it's just a stop over! I can remember to when the season ended it was like man I can't wait till next season we have (fill in your whoever who want to)! I also think that now days it's not a complete bonded team effort! Before the season starts, the media (insert any other word you want to with this to) starts with the well this player looks like so and so and he will be drafted in the top 5 and you can't tell me that, that doesn't get into a kids head and he plays a little like I am going to show how good I am! Can you imagine what kind of team we would have if everyone of these young men stayed for 4 years!!!! I am glad Herro came to KY!! He may get a little wild , but he never gives up!!!He reminds me of some of the Rupp's Runt's with a bit of Deron Feldhause mixed in! Ok my rant is over for today! WAIT no it's not! I will be so glad when this ESPN slobberfest with Zion is over! They spent a whole segment on his greatest games last night! !@#$%^&*()_+ now I am done! Ya'll have a good one!

Cord, I agree with you, somewhat. I loved the days when you watched the players progress, before they left. However, as you say, it is just different times. I would like to see these kids as seniors, but would you want to see Zion Barrett, and Reddish as seniors? As long as Cal continues to recruit the best, you will still see them leave, at least until the NBA changes the draft rules. I would rather do it this way, than to see him get mediocre talent and suffer through a bunch of losses until they became juniors and seniors.

They could but who knows who will go and who will stay? If PJ had gone through the ceremony last year, he would look silly coming back and doing it again. Then again, if he hadn't and then stayed in the draft, he would have missed it. I agree, it is not the same. I remember when Happy would come out and sing My Old KY Home and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Nobody could beat us on those days. Just different times.

18.1° F and sunny. It was a cold day yesterday all day long, but the sun made it tolerable.

I got part of my room painted upstairs where I have my spare computers. I plan on again starting to convert a bunch of Kentucky games from video tape to DVD's. It is a long process.

I actually ended up enjoying the game last night even though I felt that Ole Miss could pull it out at any minute. P.J. can miss free throws in the most inconvenient ways. Johnson ended up 3-7. Dang that would have been a bad game for Bert back in high school and I would have had to run laps for it the next day.

Tomorrow I meet in Glasgow with four special women to plan our 55th high school reunion. I was part of a really good class. Special folks.

And at least one of KJ's foul shots were the front end of the bonus. That means he left at least 5 pts on the floor. That will get you beaten in the tournament. If they took as much time to practice foul shots as they did flexing after plays, they might shoot better from the line.

Home again!

Bert, you had one job! What was the temperature in Bowling Green this morning when your temp was 18.1034°?

When I left the house the van said it was 14°. I called my wife and her car also said it was 14°. 30 minutes later in downtown it read 19° and the Sun hadn't came up yet. Not the 10° that I've seen before, but definitely more than 1 or 2.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Has the calling out of players by other players reached an unhealthy for the team level? When is the last time Hagans stole a ball? Why did PJ have more assists than he did?

Event X Reaction = Outcome

This is the equation for life. The Event is a constant, because, shit happens. Reaction is the variable. The Outcome of any event in YOUR life is determined by YOUR reaction to the event.

Have an acceptable day!

It was 1.5 degrees warmer.

Ben I was talking about our players, Pukes can leave after their first year! LOL

Mine are not dry with a recording!!!

Oh and I am still SMH about the Duke game last night. Has there ever been a luckier team? They were playing a terrible team and were favored by 26 points. They struggled the whole game and the refs were helping the best they could. Then it went down to a last shot under the basket. Wake down 1 point. The ball rolled round and round and round and fell off of the rim as time expired. Duke wins. What can we say. They are going to get theirs because that is not a great team in spite of the ESPN hype.

All the hype will only make their loss in the tournament that more devastating for their fans, and ESPN. They will have to put Bilas and Vitale on suicide watch.

Something that was and will never be again. You hate to see traditions die but that is the society we live in.

I tried to make as many of them as I could and took off vacation days to make it a long weekend. It was worth the 850 mile drive just for that one moment. Rest in Peace Happy

Speaking of Joe B I can remember one call-in show where a young girl called in and asked Joe B this, Coach do you know the difference between a true KY fan and a fair weather fan? He said what's the difference? She said a fair weather fan says we won they (KY) lost, A real KY fan says we won or we lost. I never ever listen to the post game call ins any more cause I hate hearing someone (idiot trolls) ask hey coach how does it feel to get your ash kicked by two points tonight!

Good morning from Orlando. Currently 47°F. Sunny and windy. Should hit 62°F.

Happy for another road win. Cats fought hard.

I took yesterday off from social media, including this board. Just needed some time for reflection. I also tried to obtain mom's death certificate, but it's not yet ready. Florida Dept. of Health normally requires 10 days business days after death until availability. Trying again this coming Friday.

I'll check back later. Y'all behave.

FIFY If you swing at my nose, my reaction will be defensive. My response, not so accommodating.

I'll stick with the original equation. Are you one of those E/m=C*2 guys?

It was 1.5 degrees warmer.

Thanks Bert! Isn't that about how much they tell us the climate has warmed over the last 100 years? I rest my case.

Make sure you get more than one. I had to order more to resolve some insurance stuff.

That's a long time ago...I figured it would've been called low school back then.

Feeble attempt....

SC think about this, when you said recruiting advantage senior night, that's a short ceremony compared to the on the ram it down our throats Puke jerseys and awe shucks royboy tarhoe mascot car commercials!!! Not fussing just saying!!

I don't know if ya'll get the commercial with ole roy in your area but everytime I see I think like this. Hi ya'll recruits this is Ole Roy here with our team mascot Tarhole Ram aw shucks if ya'll will just come on down here to UnCheat we will give ya'll this brand new car no questions asked epically from the NCAA, also we will throw in a brand new diploma without even having to go to class! Can KY beat that son?!

It’s right here in Yahoo’s story from the trial:

“I’ll never forget that,” Kaplan said. “They knew it was wrong and they were covering their tracks. And they were making sure they were covering Rick Pitino’s tracks. Why were they covering Rick Pitino’s tracks? Because they knew he was out if he did know.”

Pitino was fired anyway when the federal charges were first announced. He is the only head coach to lose his job thus far.

Louisville, Kansas and North Carolina State all offered victim-impact statements prior to sentencing. Louisville even claimed the case had demoralized alumni and defeated the fanbase. But as Moore noted, two of Louisville’s own assistant coaches were involved in possible NCAA violations, “yet they have not yet been prosecuted.” And if the school wasn’t willing to fire Pitino after prostitutes entertained players and recruits at parties in the dorm, then how demoralizing could this have been?

“I think the way Louisville handled ‘StripperGate’ was telling,” Moore said after the sentencing.

Haney was even more direct, mocking the entire concept that the Cardinals could be an aggrieved party, labeling it, “one of the most non-compliant and dirtiest basketball programs in the history of the NCAA.”[Yahoo.com]

HaHa! The NCAA might find some reason to overlook all this stuff kind of like they did with the Miami stuff that allowed ul to keep Bridgewater despite the fact that he was dirty and dealt with dirty people.

The only problem is, cordmaker, that the networks could not transmit Senior Night at UK because it was a recruiting ploy.

The Duke shit is ruled otherwise.

Screw the NCAA.:(

The mascot taught the class that all the athletes took.

Same way with Wildcat lodge, until other schools built them. Then it was ok, of course.
Isn't that the truth. When I was a student, Bear Bryant had the University of Alabama football program build what was called the Taj Mahal for college football "dorms" for his players. Only football players lived in it. It was celebrated and applauded and even had a huge piece in Sports Illustrated singing it's glory. Then Joe B had one built for the basketball team and all hell broke loose. Everybody complained and the media went crazy.

For you youngsters, hating everything UK basketball didn't start yesterday. It has been with us since the very beginning. When Adolph Rupp took his teams to New York City and beat their butt the hate began. It has never stopped
