Starchief, you da man!

Ymmot, what kind of washer did you get? We just got a new Matag bravos xL.

Catfan, what a meal man, good job.

Yep, BKo the sweetheart. One fine lady indeed.

Good Daddy's day. All 5 kids with me. 3 and the wife left for Houston. U of Houston Baptist college. ATC, you know anything about that place. They will be there tomorrow.

Golden State up 7 at half. Go Warriors. FCC.

I confess that I am watching the game. Curry got a rough call on his 3rd foul.

Chief might see one of these bad boys in Phoenix.

Haven't got one yet but am looking at getting an LG to match the washer.

BKO - the sweetheart of the D-League.

I suspect you have an old soul. Most guys 50 or older are considered senile, out-of-touch, unbearable dinosaurs on the Paddock. ATC and GhostVol are in the transition stage and thus able to travel back and forth. Others are creeping up toward the abyss.

awww thanks hon
I've been told as much, before (being an old soul) - I don't consider any of you as senile/out-of-touch/dinosaurs; especially since hubby is almost 54, himself.
Enjoy chatting with you all

Evening folks
Hope your Fathers' Days were all you hoped them to be
Been a long, busy day, here - hubby had to work tonight, so we took him to brunch; then daughter came over for a bit to visit with her Daddy and see us; then off to my parents' house. After we left there, we had to do some shopping (out of milk and stuff for breakfast, etc)
Finally home and catching up on here.
Missed the NBA final - Cavs won I see; congrats to any Cleveland and/or Lebron fans

I've done a 180 on James -- and that is unusual for me. Usually when a guy loses my respect he's dead to me.

But I'm now rooting for him after writing him off over the ridiculous 'Going to Miami' fiasco. He seems like a decent guy, a good father after being raised without one, and a guy with real roots to his home region.

I think last night puts him in the convo for best of all time. And to me he seems like a better guy, overall, than Michael Jordan.

I have come to the conclusion that the whole "The Decision" thing wasn't really his idea. Not that he hadn't decided to go, but the media circus around it. It was something dreamed up by his agent and the network - and he went along with it because of the money it raised for Boys and Girls clubs. And, IIRC, he actually took less pay to go to Miami. Just my opinion; would prefer to think he's actually a good guy.

Morning, D
Coffee is a good and necessary thing
Was a pretty good weekend - got my car on Friday, Anniversary on Saturday, and Father's Day yesterday. Although, I do have to say Father's Day was rough on the hubby, but we did our best to make it good for him. I hated that he had to work at 6pm, but maybe it wasn't such a bad thing for him, considering.
Dr appointment for youngest son today - have to discuss his issues with the pediatrician, including upping dosage on his ADHD meds (I've held off on that as long as I could) and the severe anxiety with which he was diagnosed by a specialist through the school. Want what is best for my son, and to help him all we can, but hate the thought of the medications.
Have the granddaughter this morning - one of the lights of my life, let me tell you. All three of my kids are, as is my husband.
Hope everyone is well, today

  • Good Morning.
  • 66º in Johns Creek. Just perfect. VFR.
  • Blood Sugar = 81. Weight = 223.
  • Starting off the week with bad news from Ft. Campbell. #3 overslept and missed the 12 miler. He may be out as a Ranger. Damn. I don't know.
  • Over.
Sorry about your son. Impressive that he was in the position to be considered as a Ranger. If he's washed out, maybe he'll get another chance. Sons are always doing something knuckle-headed. Mine (16) let his expensive bike get stolen because he didn't lock it up on a night-time visit to McDonalds. Then, instead of calling me so we could have chased after it in a car, back into the area where it most likely disappeared, he walked back in there himself and thrashed around in a useless effort.

#3 is our grandson. Hard lesson. Update: he says he may get another chance, but not this month. We'll see. He's having a little trouble growing up.

BKO -- I've been through the thing with ADHD meds for a son -- as have an incredible number of my friends here. It's some kind of epidemic for boys. It is going to take a lot of patience. Our first effort with meds, an Adderrall-type stimulant, did not work. Then we went to a more straight forward anti-anxiety med called Lexapro, and that worked much better. My son seems to be on a path out of the woods, though we're not taking anything for granted.

Our son is on methylphenidate - which has worked well enough; he's simply gained too much weight for the dosage he's on. It's not really a behavioral thing with him, at least not in the way people view it; he has an impulse control problem, and he simply can't sit still, or concentrate on a series of simple directions. Of course it has affected his school work badly. It's hard for him, because he does mean well - and is so contrite when mistakes happen to the point of figuratively beating himself up over it. There is nothing deliberate - he's a sweet and loving boy. I remember the pediatric nurse telling me, once, that he's the only child she's ever seen that actually needed medical intervention for his ADHD. At school, and at home, we work on exercises that are supposed to help.
I'd rather keep the medication on the lowest dosage possible. Actually, I'd rather he didn't have to be put on anything. I've heard of Lexapro though, and have read positive reports. How old was your son when you started on that? Jamie is only 11.

Our son was 14 when we finally figured he needed to try something, and 15 when we went on Lexipro. I'll pray things work for your son and your family. In our case, my son had tested well at various levels and we encouraged him to go to a very rigorous private high school to "reach his potential." But we'd underplayed signs of lack of focus and anxiety when he was in middle school because despite them he'd gotten good grades and scored very well on standardized tests. The very aggressive homework/work load at the more elite school just buried him. Putting him back in the public high school, and the Lexipro, has seemed to stabilize him.

Thank you my friend. J has never really tested well, becomes very anxious when ANY kind of test is administered - struggles with studies. They did determine a mild learning disability (which, with help, shouldn't be a problem). It's kind of a vicious circle, really.
We'll do what we have to though; our son means the world to us.
