For those interested, UK's top player, Coltyn Kessler, who hit .349 overall and .339 in conference play has submitted his paperwork to enter the transfer portal. Kessler is a senior catcher who struggled in 2020 and lost his starting position in 2021 before an injury to starter Alonso Rubalcaba forced Kessler back into action. Kessler, clearly, didn't disappoint as he started almost every game behind the dish after that point, including all 30 SEC games.
This comes as a big blow to the UK baseball team as Kessler is (IIRC) the 12th UK player on the 2021 roster to enter the portal, joining starters Cam Hill and Trae Harmon as well as big time relievers Jimmy Ramsey, Cole Daniels, and Dillon Marsh.
