The kid graduated with honors and he should be able to finish his career anywhere he deems correct for him. Pitt looks like a suck bucket on this one.

Well, kind of. Pitt messed up when they allowed him to take the financial aid package and all that. Once they caved there, they were done. He'll play this year once all the public outcry hits.
If allowed to play, this is big for UNC.
They are still weak up front, though.
Doubt they win another title. Roy's formula is to have Seniors and Juniors lead the way and only have Freshmen as role players..
Look how eerily similar the three title team's starting five were:

Three Juniors and two Seniors. All five blue chip recruits who probably leave after 1-2 years if they were in other systems.
Also, each team had an elite Freshman coming off the bench (Williams, Davis, and Bradley).
That is just plain weird how similar the squads are.
Roy has to be the king of finding the perfect college 3-4 year post player. He finds guys that are great in college, but busts in the pros. Most of them lack the athleticism and measurables to get pros interested, but are big and athletic enough to dominate college after 3-4 years of development. May/Williams, Hansbrough/Thompson, and Meeks/Hicks. It's an excellent formula for inside domination in college.
That combined with some luck and lots of cheating is a winning formula.

Good breakdown buc. And yes, weak they are. Weak is probably too light a word. Maye is the only big returnee and he is more of a perimeter player. Pinson is their leading returning rebounder at 4.6 per game. None of their incoming bigs are likely major impact players this season. They will get eaten alive by most teams with good frontcourts. With Johnson, they will have a good backcourt and wing players with Berry, Pinson and Johnson, but I just don't see that being enough to make a serious run. I think Sweet 16 is their likely ceiling, and I wouldn't doubt they don't even make that.

Yes, they will do all those things, get stronger, develop, grow, hone their game and all that. And if they are lucky, they will be a buddy heild type, capable maybe being able to play even basketball against those super talented freshmen. Look, Justin Jackson was a 5 star player and a junior, and Monk, a freshman outplayed him in the first matchup, and played him even in the second matchup. Berry, again an upperclassmen who was originally toward the top of his class, got our played by Fox in the first game, and played him even the second time around.
Cam Johnson is a decent college player, but other then jump shooting hes NOT even close to the level of Knox, Diallo , Vanderbilt and etc.....Had he came here he may have brought a little leadership ( maybe ) but he would have been little more than a practice or spot min player.

I don't like the graduate transfer rule at all. I wish they would do away with it. As for this situation, Pitt should stick to their guns. They didn't recruit to fill his position, as he was there and it was assumed he would be there next year. It isn't fair to Pitt to damage their team. Cam made a commitment to Pitt. Graduating didn't stop that commitment. If he wants to break that commitment with an ACC school, he has a penalty. He knew that when he first went to Pitt. The ACC can have rules of its own and probably does. Had this been a significant member of the UK team, no one on here would have such a generous attitude about announcing a transfer so late in the year when recruiting is effectively over.
Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech granted Adam Smith a release to play anywhere he chose. Smith was a Grad Student who transferred to GT and averaged more points for VT than Johnson did for Pitt. Both players played one year under the new coaches. Smith was eligible immediately. Smith even got a waiver from the NCAA because he had transferred to VT from UNCW which usually negated the Graduate Transfer rule.
If they have 4 years of talent and possible NBA talent like UNC did this season and UK did in 98 . UNC next season has neither. Berry is the only possible NBAer on that team and he is a 2nd rounder at best. This will be the worst UNC team in 10 years easy. Even if Johnson plays as his playing doesn't help the front court which there is none.
Yes the school can override the rule but it is a conference rule, not just Pitts.

I don't think he held off as much as he and Cal agreed U.K. Would be the place for him if Diallo stayed in the draft and not if he withdrew! Diallo stayed so then Carolina was back in it. Simple as that.
They don't even know their fate with the NCAA and Roy and the bunch are making promises of other things out of their control. This is going to be another fun thing to watch as to the way they operate. Pitt better show some fortitude. UNC sold him a bill of goods about taking it to court. If he thinks they're gonna spend a ton more money on lawyers to get him eligible he's in for a rude awakening.

Come on now. Pretty much everyone on this board was salivating over him, especially when we thought Diallo was gone. He's a great get for UNC, I wish we would have gotten him.
It wasn't that simple. Kentucky was definitely in the lead, but there were others that, at one point, we're ahead of North Carolina.
IMO is was panic... only two girls left at the dance and desperate "beer goggles" were looking for anyone.
At first I really wanted this guy, but as time went on...I didn't think he would have been a good fit here; hence not very productive.

Perhaps, but he is 6'-7" and shoots 42% from 3, so there's that. He appears to be a specialist though, he doesn't stuff any other stats.
I think it's clear that that's not the definition of agenda written into the board rules.
Agenda posting is bringing the same argument into every thread whether it's relevant or off topic. Just like a three page argument about Cal not winning another title in a thread about Cam Johnson and his eligibility.
And please don't try and argue six degrees of separation. Yes it all relates to UK basketball. Yes we're all humans on earth so everything is connected. A bit of nuance and common sense is required on a board where those things are a given.
I think his point is...that almost every post they make is trying to show how Cal is a poor coach and not for UK. It derails threads and gets everyone off topic.

I do not want him to go to UNC but he was on a one scholarship which can be renewed solely at the school's discretion.Why should the kid be held to a higher standard than the school
It is extremely rare that schools don't renew scholarships. That isn't much of an argument.
