The more I read and watch about Hamdan the more I think this is going to be a great hire.

Brother played in the NFL, dad is a nuclear scientist, and he’s close to Chris Petersen one of the best HC of the last 20 years and quite a great offensive mind to learn from.

Old article but good: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...-happy-reunion-personally-and-professionally/

I agree. While i still think we massively overpaid i think hes a great fit for us. All coen did his last stint was try to put concepts on film to get an nfl job.

If this is truly a return to power football and big blue wall with rpo, count me in.

Burton didn't look any stronger to me. I hope we can grow some offensive linemen soon. It looked like Farmer and Mincey as first string on the right side and Cox at left tackle so 3 out of the 5 starters on the line were not developed here.

Get use to it ! With the transfer portal this will be the case most every year !!!

Yeah, hope he’s a step above Coen at last years level and has simplified things. Some players said the playbook was hard to grasp and his calling was much different than his first year here.

Last few years they've had some bad luck with O-lineman, career ending injuries, attrition, not panning out etc. Good news is they shored up the holes with the portal and some of the young guys especially Selm look very promising. Plus I think Wolf being back will be a big plus. Some of what we saw out of certain linemen last year will not be tolerated by Wolf.

I was in the car today and had the radio on for maybe 10 min but during that 10 min ksr did mention the rumblings they had heard the concern so far in fall camp is oline. Accurate? Dunno. Just passing along their discussion.

I am hoping Wolf plays the best OL regardless. If Burton isn't cutting it,put someone else in and sit him down. He's had a million chances to prove himself. If he's still jumping the snap, blowing assignments, getting blown up, etc., time to see someone else. I don't think Wolf is going to have as much patience as Yenser did.

Hamdan is the weakest link.
Nothing about play calling past two weeks makes me believe he can turn it around.
Be mad at Stoops, but at least he recognized we needed to run the ball straight.
Hamdan would lead us to multiple shutouts without interference.

I’m pretty sure our offense would look horrible no matter who our OC was. And who is hiring these guys anyway? The buck stops at CMS. Is he going to hire yet another OC for next year?

I don't disagree. I don't care that he tells coordinators to run the ball. I wish he could hire someone he didn't have to tell that to.

Arguing about how or why is mostly irrelevant when someone has been somewhere this long and has only had one team in the top half of the ncaa offenses. It all falls on stoops at this point. Whether it’s ‘meddling too much, not meddling enough, poor hiring choices, poor personnel choices for a system….whatever it is it’s the same every year and we can no longer count on playing the fallback stodgy way to beat Muschamp and Odom every year.

Hamdan looked really outclassed today. Very troublesome. Ya they had an elite pass rusher but we faced many of those over the years without letting them completely shut down the offense.

The most embarrassing was us going double tight to the phenom side and watching him easily beat all 3. Totally inept and pathetic to even try something so weird.

Go heavy (he came out vs heavy), run screens, draws, power at him, trap at him, chip with backs or te. But we did nothing except line up a guy to block him one on one. On 3 and 23 we even tried to drop back and go downfield.

So instead of sticking with the run, we keep playing right into their only strength. Very concerning because it appeared he had no ability to adjust to a talent deficiency.

If he was the man....Mizzou/Drinkowitz would have not moved on from him in 2022 (and promptly had a good offensive year the season after he leaves).

There is no coming back from this......Scangerallo-ish performance vs. a weak USC team at home. We'll be putting up points per game in the teens a game for the season which will be no way you can bring him back for next year....and Stoops can't keep burning thru offensive staff to save his back side.

Running side to side works in Boise st....but not in this league.

Its' been a fun ride for Stoops.....but it's over.

He appeared clueless in postgame!
Night and day from Coen to Hamden!

I think it over for Stoops as well, he has made very bad OC hires! Imo his defense is slipping as well! Don't know how it will end, but after Cal anything is possible lol!

It's certainly what most everyone here wanted. Passing gets priority for excitement's sake, and running occasionally when it favors us.

Very disappointed in the offense. Made last year's USC game look impressive, and it was hot garbage. No discipline, not technically sound, played to USC's strengths. Gave up on the run when it was clearly to our advantage and strength. Just really poor coaching.

Somebody believed they were better than USC but forgot they had to prove it on the field, not unlike the fans on this board. This was a well earned defeat.

Question is- does this offensive staff have the fortitude to see how badly they blew this game and actually change, or do they keep trying to force what isn't working to the detriment of what will... We could've run on this team all game and simply chose otherwise.

Hamdan might as well go fill water cups, I’d say Stoops is ready to scrap the O, and Gran O will be back with Vandagriff and Wimsatt taking turns handing the ball off, or running it, with 10 passes a game.
Bingo .. get ready for stoops ball after debacle .which means we will suck the rest of the season , average 15 points a game looking like a 2004 type team on O or 1934

It still blows my mind people hate running the ball. If we stick with the run yesterday, we win that game handily. Grans offense would've produced a blow out in our favor.

Do fans really value throwing the ball over winning? I guess so.

We don't win the game yesterday regardless of running the ball. It was a total debacle on both sides of the ball. How many receivers did our safety lose yesterday? They rushed three one time and we kept seven in and all three got to the QB. We got out coached on both sides yesterday.

USC absolutely sold out for getting pressure, they were begging us to run the ball and when we did we got good yardage. The problem is when we got to the 4th quarter we were too far behind by just running as DSK doesn't have break away speed. Was wondering why they didn't try to give Wilcox some touches he has the speed to take it to the house.

Their entire defense is built around two rush ends. Their defense absolutely feeds on those guys and the rest of the team does as well.

We ran the ball with ease except inexplicably every drive we'd try something cute and it would cause us to lose yards putting us in passing down and distance.

You come out run the ball down for tds first two possessions and you zap all that positive energy and confidence and we turn it into a route.

But yes....lets keep pining for throwing the ball at all costs. Thats how we got here.

Hamdan got a “welcome to football east of the Rockies” yesterday so I’m not going to totally put everything on him.

He’s been playing ballet ball in the mountain west.

So Miss and yesterday is a perfect example of why I dislike the OOC schedule. You blow out a G5 and learn nothing.

We need to play a conference game to start the season or UL. Figure out who’s who what’s what.

Sold out? They were in the backfield rushing 3 guys no matter what we did. Thats why noone was open even on the drop backs we had time.

The only sell out they brought was on 3rd and maybe 6 when we threw a slant in the ground short of the sticks.

They didn't have to blitz. They just had a matchup that dominated on its own.

I I don’t value throwing over winning , don’t be dull like that … but this isn’t 1962 , you can’t simply discard the passing game and line up and cram the ball the other teams throat - YES it might give us a win yesterday, but I the big picture of SEC football in 2024 how many other games we gonna win ? What are we aiming for ? To only get beat 26-10 by the better teams because we run clock and hope for the best or a team that can actually pass the ball ? I refuse to settle for an old school big ten type team , it’s just going to gets brains bashed in . If you can throw versus USC the season is a bust and Stoops time is over asap .

You don't have to discard it but you can and should certainly put it on the shelf if you need to. We blow out sc if we go power run to get up, then work on the pass after you killed their soul.

Hell odu probably beats them if they run the ball. Sc des caused 5 turnovers and the true freshmen caused 2 or 3 in the fourth quarter.

But coaches are too focused on balance. So we got what got by playing right into the only strength they have.

They could have run some RB screens, TE mesh, and short slants or outs that didn't take 3 seconds to set up but instead for whatever reason he kept calling longer plays requiring a drop and the QB was just not getting the time to execute those plays. It was maddening to watch. Running the ball was correct but there were passing plays to be made but were never called.
