Big Z Officially Admitted to UK

I feel like the NCAA has been neutered. They are a lot less of a deterrent now than they used to he.
Yeah. I just don’t get some of the decisions they make. Like the UNC WR who transferred so a sick family member could see him play more, they ruled him ineligible but the QB for Rice who has transferred like 4 or 5 times they rule him eligible. There just isn’t any pattern with anything they do. I feel good about big Z playing here but I’m not 100 percent convinced yet

The NCAA has been a fraud for many years. Hiding behind the amaturism lie was going to crumble at some point. I've been saying that on this site, and previous incarnations of this site, as CATinFL, KYbred and now good 'Ole Poop' for years. No one ever said much because that isn't what they wanted to hear.

Now the NCAA is playing smoke and mirrors with eligibility rules to keep everyone guessing in a desperate attempt to retain some semblance of legitimacy, which they don't have.

Good news but ncaa is shady with UK so who knows.

I have 0 faith John calipari can win anything that matters anymore so whether or not Z plays or not won't change ultimate outcome.

A
Then quit being g a fan until he is gone. At least quit posting. People are sick and tired of idiots like you hijacking EVERY thread to run your agenda. We are talking about Ivisic getting eligible , not opinions of the head coach. But at the end of the day, it's great that people who actually have a say and matter, DGAF what you think of Cal. Until they change , he will be the head man. Like I said, quit being a fan until he is gone, save yourself the agony. YOU don't matter.

It's not quite a nothing burger. He's admitted. Eligibility will follow. I don' think that they would've admitted him without him not being pretty much good to go.
Actually I think admittance is the easy part which is why I was so surprised that UK was having issues. I didn't know there were underlying issues with the NCAA. I was never concerned about getting him enrolled. But I will be concerned about his eligibility. We have been down this road before.

Pilgrim is saying that the NCAA amateurism issue is resolved and its over now that the language exam was passed.
I don't think we will ever fully know what the hold up issue was.

Feels like there was a lot of this going on:

I hope someone tells us what was going on behind the scenes, but not if it’s going to make Z look bad.
Nobody’s damn business. Fans have no legal nor ethical entitlement to this information. Squalling about it just makes a certain ‘special’ group of fans look bad.

Pilgrim is saying that the NCAA amateurism issue is nothing more than a formality and its over now that the language exam was passed.
That's essentially what I took away. Think he said the NCAA eligibility was like 4th or 5th on the staff's list of things they were worried about with respect to Big Z. I never assume anything until it's over but sounds like this is essentially done and he will play.

Looking for the official word soon.

If we find out the biggest issue was truly the reading section of a language exam, I just don't know how I'm gonna feel about that. Dude passed one they didn't acknowledge, then failed that one portion due to accommodations, and then has now passed it. If I'm Z, I'd be like, "What other hoop do you want me to hula through?"

So all that bashing, bellyaching, and recrimination for the last couple of weeks here was over nothing. All the slamming of UK's Admissions Department was directed at good people who did their jobs correctly. Will people ever learn?

Will he be here by Madness? A dice roll but I'm sure it is high priority to make it happen. Still some things that have to get done. Obtain the visa which is done on US soil. Then be given clearance from Homeland Security to be legal to enter the US. He won't have to do this alone, UK will send an escort to expedite stuff. Wouldn't doubt he'll be on an airplane tomorrow.

I told some of you just let this play out and let UK handle this. Everything looks like it is going to be OK.

How can a student just start going to classes now when they've missed almost 2 months of the semester? How would they even be academically eligible to play?

Is that what pilgrim said?
Yea Pilgrim admitted he misspoke a few weeks ago saying he was cleared by NCAA. Said UK had told him, they and compliance had done all the pre-work, dotted Is, crossed Ts... and staff said then it was just a formality.

He said the NCAA stuff was about 5th of the list of the priorities UK was worrying about. Sounds like their is some sort of "pre-clearance" or back channel process between compliance and the NCAA. But probably cannot submit the official paperwork until he is enrolled.

My only concern, is will the NCAA have enough time to process the paperwork before start of season. I am sure they are slammed right now with all the fall and winter sports coming online.

I love how this news ruined so many days across the NCAA landscape. I hope Emmert bit half his tongue off when he read this news.

Appreciate it, it wouldn’t shock me at all if the NCAA didn’t clear him until the January term. 3 weeks to get him ready for the season is extremely short notice

If so, only makes me appreciate Big Z more and the fact that he stuck with UK throughout the process and didn't just bolt to one of the other schools that was trying hard to get him.

Agreed, I've had no beef with Z. It's the adults in the situation that have questions surrounding them.

A TON of college classes start mid term. They are called "part of term".

Yeah, I'm not asking for personal information about Z, I'm talking about the procedure and why it took the UK compliance department so long to clear him and why non english speaking individuals get in no problem, but they put the screws to Z. Now the kid is way behind.
