Reed Sheppard behind the back pass on a save with an assist

Regardless, an ugly court is an ugly court. And that one fell out of the tree and hit every branch on the way down.
Well, it is league wide with every team's colors making up the floor. A temporary change is fine with me and don't mind seeing the league do something different.

I browse the Rockets forum occasionally... seems like he's still timid and getting his feet wet.

Rookies have an adjustment period in the NBA where they are figuring out what they can do at this level.

Shep is going to be fine. I do think it may take 2-3 years for him to get starting minutes,

Great pass, but I don't think that's technically an assist.
It was an assist. Check the box score for when Tari Eason dunked with 19 seconds left in the 3rd Quarter. Reed was credited with an assist in the official box score.

Well maybe they changed the definition of an assist. I thought the person you passed to couldn't dribble or maybe no more than one dribble or something for it to count.

The official definition of an assist from the NBA.
An assist is credited to the player tossing the last pass leading directly to a made field goal, but only if the player scoring the goal demonstrates an immediate reaction toward the basket after receiving the pass. Note also that an inbound pass can be credited as an assist if it leads directly to a field goal.
The immediate reaction toward the basket is what Eason did moving directly towards the goal after catching that wild behind the back pass on the save from Reed.

Thanks for posting that. I like learning stuff. Sounds like it's a bit subjective and I wonder if/when they changed the rule.
