The show started on TV in 2008 but I was asking what year it was set in to begin, not when it came on TV.
The pilot starts on 9/7/08 in the BB universe. BCS starts in 2002.

Where do you come up with the 9/7/08 date? I assume it has to do with Walt's birthday. Just trying to get a timeline of where BCS is versus when BB starts. The pilot starts on 9/7/08 in the BB universe. BCS starts in 2002.

I'm over 40. I don't trust google.
Never let me down before. But you trust the Paddock?
I don't care what role he plays, he'll always be Lenny from Laverne and Shirley.I hated Chuck. Glad he's apparently gone. I never realized this before, but the actor who plays Chuck, Michael McKean, is band member David St. Hubbins in the classic 1984 movie "This Is Spinal Tap".

First episode was fantastic. I haven't watched last night's ep yet.
A few observations without spoilers:
- I wouldn't mind them doing a whole Gene episode this season. I don't want to wait until the next season premiere to find out what happens.
- RIP Robert Forster. Glad we got at least one more scene with him. Great actor.
- Kim is gonna break. I'm surprised she hasn't already, but the first episode clearly foreshadows it happening soon.
- Lalo is a fantastic character addition to the series. He has Gus' intellect with Tuco's unpredictability.
I'm half wondering if there won't be an "El Camino" style movie released after BCS is finished. Kindof a string all of those Gene Scenes together and fill in the gaps to find out what actually happens, that is unless we breeze through Saul's Breaking Bad days and Season 6 goes beyond them.
I think Kim gonna die
We shall see
Don't think so. Maybe. But just have always been tempted to believe that Jimmy's (Saul's . . . that is, Gene's) refuge to Omaha isn't supposed to be taken without some meaning. Why? Where is Kim from? Does she ever really say? Other than a dink nothing town on or near the Nebraska border with Kansas? Given how details for the two series rarely, or never, explain themselves by coincidence alone it is tempting to believe Gene is in Omaha to be near Kim, or for some reason to do with Kim.I think Kim gonna die
We shall see
Ehhh Kim isnt just going to leave...
Kim gonna die
Big part of Saul going full on Saul
Mostly yes to all of those things, but . . entertain for a moment some other things in BB about Saul. At some point he establishes a reliable relationship with Fring (moves to set Walt up in business with him, and knows how Fring does business). Saul also knows a professional live body relocation service, knows his secret vacuum code. How? Obviously Saul has had urgent need to do business with that dude previously. For whom? And who connected Saul to THAT guy? My bet is Fring? Why? Because ultimately Kim is going to be in danger for the general reason you suspect, and Fring will be responsible.Something is going to happen to her before this is all said and done. No way she is unmentioned in the backdrop of the BB universe. Right? I mean we know she didn't make it Nebraska with Gene.
Coincidentally, the money that Mesa Verde has agreed to settle for is almost precisely what the relocation service fee was in Breaking Bad. Just thought I would mention that.
I don't know that he chose Nebraska. In the scene where he puts him in front of the screen to make his id Saul says Nebraska, who's in Nebraska and the vacuum guy said you are as if he didn't have a choice.Even if Saul was on a contingency instead of a fee basis, he'd only be getting a third of that settlement, so I don't think that amount will be of any significance moving forward.
Everything else you wrote is definitely food for thought. Especially the thing so obvious that I can't believe I didn't consider it: Of all the places to vanish to -- why Nebraska? That can't be a coincidence.
Absolutely correct about % vs. fee except for one thing, maybe two or three, but one in particular for now: did last night's episode clearly establish that Saul was actually (legally) representing a 92 year old native American photographer? Saul stated she was alive, that he knew where she was, implied Saul was going to see her even. Did he go see her, does he know where she is? Is she alive?Even if Saul was on a contingency instead of a fee basis, he'd only be getting a third of that settlement, so I don't think that amount will be of any significance moving forward.

...I'm thinking Kim might have some unfortunate involvement with Lalo v Gus if Saul is retained by Lalo.
WTF was Kim thinking?
