“I’m not sure why he isn’t playing.”

That coming from the boards leading conspiracy theorist.

I will agree that we should wait to see what comes of this..

But how else can you explain whats going on? Hard to see how this isn't a huge problem, not only for this year, but going forward. I see now way how someone could spin this isn't not being a big deal. Highly unlikely this is just some sort of mix up and everything will be honky dory by Saturday. I hope I'm wrong.

You are 100% correct yet there are still many “fans” that eat Cal’s BS with a spoon and say “more please!”

Anyone who thinks Cal is above trolling the fanbase, and even his own boss, think again. He’s done it repeatedly and the louder the criticism gets, the more he relishes doing it.

Cal truly believes in his own mind that he is above reproach and turns into a petulant child when people are like “wtf are you doing?”. That’s why it’s so hard to respect the man.

I'm over wishy washy fans just waiting for anything negative to occur to pounce on Cal. It's just childish.

You still got that Cal man crush I see. It is interesting to me that you are obviously a John MacArthur fan. (For those who don’t know, he’s a preacher who quite often calls out other preachers by name as heretics). And yet you fail to see the charlatan that Cal is? That’s wild. If Cal were a preacher, your boy would have called him out. He’s a used car salesman - slimy, crooked, lover of money who will do anything to get it and keep it. Your favorite preacher has some discernment. You, not so much.

Theiro averages 23 min/game in 10 games played.
Edwards averages 22.4 min/game in 18 games played.
To suggest Adou is somehow boycotting games because he's pissed at Cal is down right stupid.
Have you watched him on the bench?
Very supportive of teammates haven't seen any bad body language from him
Adou is a player not a fan.
He's not going to think like a fan.
I guarantee you that he's not pissed at Cal and will not transfer.
Enough has been said on Edwards.
He played terrible but did not single handily lose the game tonight or any of the other games we lost.
Every player and coach had a role in tonight's loss.
Come on man.
You know the only reason that Adou got those minutes was because both Bradshaw and Onyenso were injured and Z was ineligible and Cal had no other choice than to play Adou.

What happened as soon as Bradshaw came back?

And now Z is eligible and Onyenso is available also.

Whose minutes got taken away at that point?
Who came out of the starting lineup when Bradshaw came back?

Who had EARNED more playing time based on game production at the point Bradshaw came back???

It is OK to support your idol, but at least post your information in context of what actually has taken place with Adou's playing time.

If Adou is injured, he needs to get healed up. We need him in the worst sort of way. We have no one who can match his energy, hustle and physicality on the floor.

If Cal continues to play these soft @$$ 5 star freshmen boys against the opponents 3 star, hungry, physical, disrespected, grown @$$ men, this season will end up like the last 7 years.

In bitter disappointment for the fans of UK basketball, lamenting what could have been with this team.

Cal needs to stop with the BS, and coach this team. If he can.

That means starting and playing the players who give us the best chance to win the game.

Cal simply isn't doing that. As usual. He has another agenda.

Unfortunate for UK fans who want to win another championship.

There is not perfect lineup for this team.
It will be game to game the rest of the season.
A front line of Trey, Adou, and Antonio is not cutting down the nets.
Cal is not wrong in trying to establish a big.
I love Adou but he is a tweener.
I have no problems with him playing Justin's minutes as long as he doesn't think he's a two guard and fall in love with jacking three's.

Lol. Are you just trying to deflect, or are we just failing to communicate??

Everyone knows Cal has to have a dominant rim protector at center on defense because of his inability to teach how to defend pick and roll or pick and pop and always gives up either open 3's or straight line drives for layups/dunks.

Let me make it plain for you. When Bradshaw came back into the lineup, who had EARNED the right to keep their minutes by their play on the floor, Edwards or Adou??

Who remained in the starting lineup and who had to give up not only starter minutes but also game minutes unless someone got in foul trouble??

I'll hang up and listen.

I'd say he liked Adou more at the 4 and wanted Justin as the 3.
Some of it was him waiting for Justin to takeoff which hadn't happened.
I agree Adou couldn't play any worse than Justin at the 3.
Cal has to admit that now and give it a try.
I've never said that Justin should continue to start.

Protocol is doctor, trainers and player deal with player injuries , and they let coach know when player is ready. Cal I’m sure wonders why he hasn’t been informed Thiero is ready . Nothing much sinister here , but fair to wonder why if thiero looks OK

And completely unfair to Thiero for Cal to say this in the media if his intent is to call out the medical staff. All he did was make Thiero look bad. If he has a question for the medical staff he needs to ask the f’n medical staff, in private. Not make ambiguous comments in the media that could be construed as he has a guy who doesn’t want to play.

Exactly. Completely tone-deaf, immature, and bush league of Cal to make that statement in the media. Basically threw Thiero under the bus when he is the best damn player on the whole team from the 10 games I saw.

I hope Thiero is back next year and Cal isn’t.

He’s soft. Just like everyone else on this team. No dawgs. No fight.
He’s just worse because he actually sits out

I was banned from the "Thiero" thread, probably because someone cried about the ass beatings I was handing out that day.

But wow looking back, we were spot on. This wasn't 5 weeks of back problems lol.

I’m not a big fan of being accused of being a conspiracy theorist when all it takes is a shred of critical thinking skills to realize something wasn’t quite adding up here.

I never even said what I thought it was, just that something didn’t smell right.

I really hope Thiero is back at UK next year and given a starting role that he has EARNED.
Yet, another conspiracy theory? We have had 4 this season. Onyenso, Bradshaw, Ivisic and now Thiero. Same guys posting with the same types of conspiracy nonsense. I will admit I know nothing about the day to day operation at UK. However, I do know that Bradshaw is playing at UK, not USC, not using the school like Sharpe did and not just training for the NBA. He is practicing and playing for the Cats. Same for Onyenso and, Same thing for Ivisic. It will be the same for Thiero. When are you guys gonna give it a rest? You are always wrong but, to your credit and determination, you are always fast to jump on the next conspiracy ride. Ride fast and hard boys because the sane people get to watch you be wrong again. Thank you, J. Vanderbilt.

You know what's crazy.. I did mention earlier in that thread "..Or maybe Thiero's decision".. thinking it might be him who just wants to make sure he was ready to come back.. but really thought that was highly unlikely of a player to NOT want to play.

Turns out, that what this may be.

We have some guilty parties here. I know we will all take Cal to task here. But we also need to figure out why the hell Thiero is *potentially* choosing he'd rather not play.

Do you have any rational explanation for Cal’s bizarre and completely out of line quote last night?

I’m guessing you also believed Wheeler had a “sprained ankle” and missed senior night due to a “minor surgical procedure.”

True he did throw Adou under the bus.
I was just genuinely curious if there had been something on HOB or student scuttlebutt that there was a riff between Justin and Adou or Adou and Cal.
Some posters have posted it as more fact that opinion

I think it’s all just speculation at this point based on 2 and 2 not adding up to 4.

Cal’s quote last night just made it 100x worse.

He's sitting, but it's not because of injury. Cal basically clarified that Thiero CAN play, and that Thiero SHOULD play (or else lose playing time to the other guys as Cal alluded to). So we know that he's not injured, and we know that he's chosen to not play.

I know this much, when I went to games last season we would always show up an hour and a half before tip (as soon as they opened the doors)

Every time we got in there would be one dude out on the court getting shots up before the game. Adou Thiero would be out there alone or sometimes with one other guy. But always Adou.

This guy busts his ass on gameday during the game and puts the work in. I didn’t think he got a fair shake last year. I hope this blows over and we see Adou out there kicking ass, soon.

And that's ultimately a Thiero problem. Sure, Cal isn't great, and he's seemingly playing the wrong guys. But it's Thiero who is choosing to not play. Every college roster in America has bench guys who think they deserve to be starting. Why is Thiero's case any different.

And not for nothing Thiero.. You're not Kawhi Leonard. You're not THAT good that you can just bench yourself in frustration.

Cal really has to ditch the playera-first shit if he wants to continue here. Every year we now have players trying to call the shots. Can't have that. Enough of trying to placate to these guys, especially when they aren't even high caliber recruits..

I'll wait to get the full details, but this is a bad look for Adou, and if true, needs to be removed from the team just to save face and send a message.

It's a shame our program is in a place that the first place our fans minds go in these instances is a guy is sitting out not that he is legit hurt.

I havn't read all the posts on this long thread but I can't help wondering if Adou is pissed about
a clearly lesser player taking half the minutes he should be getting. I hope I'm wrong.

I am sorry, my tin foil hat is at the cleaners. Get a life.

He isn't hurt. Cal all but said that. He's choosing to not play, most of us know why that is. His dad basically said everyone will know the real reason when the time is right. Edwards knows what's going on, too, and doesn't have the maturity to defer to a better player.

I am sorry, my tin foil hat is at the cleaners. Get a life.

So what do you make of Cals quotes after the game about Thiero? There's clearly something happening, some sort of disconnect.

Not every one of these incidents turns into something (JV, Bradshaw).. but not all of them turn out to be a non-issue either (Sharpe).. we have to be able to take the info as we have it and not assume everything is fine or everything is a disaster.

Assuming all this is true, and it's not just Thiero being cautious with his own injury.. then this is what you'd call a coach losing the locker room. When that happen you have to just part ways. The Bucks did it with their HC this week.. once the players are checking out, you can't save the team and its over.

Again, there's a chance to turn it around, but we're on the ledge right now
I think it's clear the players need to play some dodgeball against the coaching staff. That worked wonders with that 2013 NIT team.
