I know, I know UK has beatin #1-#5 before in the reg season but this win just feels monumental.

We were 7 pt dogs, Duke had beatin UK 9 of the last 11 gms including 2 straight.

UK had not defeated Duke in 10 yrs.

UK has a brand new Coach and a brand new team.

We trailed by 9 at half and by 8 with 9 minutes and yet prevailed.
UK was disrespected in the preseason polls at #23.
We have had to hear about 17 yr old wonder boy Cooper Flagg all summer and how he is destined to become the #1 pick in the NBA draft.
Yet in the end he was sweating like a pig and turned it over 3 times down the stretch to cost Duke the game.
Then factor in UK hasnt sniffed a S16 in going on 6 yrs and you get the gist.

Oh make no mistake about it this win ranks up there with all the all time reg season wins!

It signals to the entire Nation….Kentucky basketball is Back!!

We've had regular season wins over #1 ranked teams before..... BUT, BUT considering how far that John Calipari had sunk the UK program to, that's what makes this win so extra special. We needed this win so bad.

Nowhere near the biggest regular season win🙄🙄🙄

Sometimes we say some of the craziest things in the heat of the moment. It was a very good win make no mistake about it but biggest in regular season history is a little bit of hyperbole, actually more than a little.

It's probably the biggest win since the 2012 championship.

Lmao.

2014 tourney alone had wst, ul, Michigan and Wisconsin, which were all bigger wins. 2015 notre Dame comes to mind. 2017 ucla. 2019 Houston game.

Ranking a regular season win over key ncaa tourney wins is comical. If we ad UK fans claim titles and final fours matter then be consistent.

Duke is the team I despise more than any. The 98 game is one of my all time favorite games….. Tuesday with Pope as the HC was very satisfying for me.

Laugh if you want to but it said "regular season wins" and I wasn't considering tournament wins. This win was against Duke which in itself makes it big since Kentucky hasn't beat them for a while. Duke was one of the favorites to win the championship which makes it bigger, and they had the supposedly top player in the country. Kentucky had a lot of questions whether they were legit or not, if Pope's style could work against elite teams, and it was Pope's first game on a national stage at Kentucky. To me it said "Kentucky is back and everyone take notice!" So I can't think of a regular season win since the end of 2012 that was as important as this one.

It was a great game and awesome experience. Last year beating UNC was special as well. Both endings included walking outto go big blue chants. Any win over a ACC school is special as ESPN over promotes the schools and UK has prevailed over both Duke and UNC the last two years.

Without googling or thinking, UK beating #5 Kansas AT Kansas in 2022 was a pretty big win. We blew them out in their gym.
