This scene from King Ralph illustrates perfectly what being our next coach will truly mean.

You all know this isn't just any coaching job. This job is for the finest college basketball team (in terms of overall history) in all the land. Paraphrasing this scene from King Ralph, to be UK's basketball coach is a responsibility like no other in the Commonwealth (even more so than being our governor believe it or not) and like few others outside of it. He must become a symbol of all that is best about our basketball team, UK, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky in general. An embodiment of our history, our culture, our morality, our pride, our ideal of basketball and UK excellence. He must in the harsh light of public 24/7 social media and Internet scrutiny (not the least of which this very forum!!) exhibit all of UK basketball's virtues and none of its shortcomings. Indeed there is much much MUCH more to being our coach than just drawing X's and O's and blowing a whistle. And I don't know if "a God's burden to bear" is quite right but it's close enough.

Hate on Barney, not Pope

He deserves our respect. cause he WON a Championship. And people have such short memories. When Pitino came the same recycled posters said, he was to young, played no defense, had no offense, was NBA man not college. How did that turn out. The same when Cal came. Same dumb posts. The ignore button makes things simple. Support the team, complain about Barnhart.

Does Cal already have a new job lined up

for next year? He's coaching like and throwing his players under the bus like he's already gone and is trying to get that buyout money, just like Coach Smith when he cashed that million dollar longevity bonus from UK after he'd already agreed to terms with Minnesota.

Where would Cal already be heading if this were the case? Yall got any ideas?
