Florida (pre-season ranking)

Florida was ranked 21st in the first AP Poll back in October. Was curious about that because they've arguably been the best team all year and there was virtually no mention of them in the preseaon Final Four/National Title conversation whatsoever. I'm cheering for Houston to win it tonight but unfortunately I think the Gators close it out for their third title.

Wait...I thought our Fans were the worst

SO all we hear is how stupid and emotional our fan base is. The worst ever? Right? We kill recruiting with our fan base...right?

Well, I did this awful thing. I went and read some of the Dukie game day thread. It only takes 10 minutes. Just just how the game unfolded in the second half and the end. My gosh they are hard n their players and coaches. It was pretty awful. The crying over the refs is really amazing. So maybe us hill Billie's aren't so unusual after all. I mean these are really smart ivy league fans. I'd think their emotional maturity would be a cut above.

"Proctor can walk home"

"worst choke job of all time"

"this game will forever prove that Duke does not get the calls"

The New Scholarship and Roster Limit Rules in College Basketball Starting 2025

1. Roster Limits and Scholarships:
Beginning in 2025, D1 men’s basketball teams will be capped at 15 roster spots, and schools will be allowed to offer up to 15 scholarships. However, basketball will be reclassified as an equivalency sport. This means coaches will have the flexibility to divide those 15 scholarships as full or partial awards among their players, tailoring them to their recruiting strategies.
2. Revenue Sharing for Athletes:
As part of the NCAA’s recent settlement, student-athletes will receive up to 22% of the average revenue generated annually by Power Conference schools. For the 2025-26 season, these schools have been informed that this revenue-sharing “cap” will be set at $20.5 million across all sports combined. This means players will have the opportunity to benefit from a portion of their program’s financial success, which is a groundbreaking step for college athletics.
3. Opt-In or Opt-Out:
Schools Have a Choice. Schools will need to make a decision each year about whether to opt into this new system or stick with the current rules. 4. Opt-In Schools:
These programs will adopt the 15-player roster limit and 15 scholarships while participating in the revenue-sharing system. Schools must notify their intent to opt in by March 1 of each year, starting in 2025.
5. Opt-Out Schools:
Programs that choose not to participate in the new system will retain the current model of 13 scholarships and can carry more than 15 players on their roster. However, opting out means they will not participate in the revenue-sharing system, so their athletes won’t benefit from the annual financial distribution.
What This Means for Coaches and Players:
6. This shift is significant for both players and coaches. For players, it opens up new opportunities to earn partial scholarships and receive revenue-based compensation, aligning the financial incentives of schools with the athletes’ performance. For coaches, it adds strategic complexity, requiring decisions about scholarship distribution and whether to opt in or out of the system because of the impending roster limit of 15 total players.

Mark Pope, Kentucky in holding pattern until House settlement on April 7

Per KSR
In the current Wild Wild West of recruiting, transparency and guardrails are coming — assuming the settlement is approved, as expected. Until then, though, Mark Pope feels his hands are tied in some areas no matter how strong a feel he has for what’s coming.
That’s impacting a lot of his day-to-day in terms of roster management and the NIL hurdles that pop up in every discussion. We’ll start big-picture and Pope’s desire to add a general manager, the way other high-profile programs have to navigate what has become free agency in college basketball with incoming and outgoing pieces while battling the draft and high school targets.
They’re recruiting now, but much-needed clarity is potentially a week away.

“We were deep in the portal last week, we will be this week and for the next weeks and months to come,” he said. “There’s even more chaos because this settlement is pending out there and that’ll change the way we’re allowed to work in the portal. There’s chaos and uncertainty and all the things.

I would not forecast Eglitis to them right now. Miller is rising up the board and landed the offer.

More on DJ Hunter: Will be cleared sometime this summer after tearing his ACL in the last game of his sophomore season. Guy with real upside. Having family in Lexington helps. His mom's side of the family is still there, most importantly grandparents.

Hunter did tell me that he is going to continue to visit other schools so here is the thing. If he blows up, you have to continue recruiting him. Helps that he has a good relationship with Wolford and Hamdan. Nice first get. Because he was injured, I wouldn't put much stock in the offer list. I think he's legitimately a high ceiling guy at this point in his prep career. Dynamic dual threat guy who can make some big-time throws.

Hamdan has had more of a preference for guys who can run. He also has 2026 four-star QB Oscar Rios coming in this weekend as well.

In-state offered OL Brady Hull stands a good chance of ending up with the Wildcats if he stays locked in and the development continues positively, and he was in Lexington again today.

Add Louisville (Ky.) Trinity DL Jule'one Carney to the visit list for this weekend. The 6'2, 265-pound defensive lineman landed an offer from Southern Miss earlier this year. 2027 prospect.

Fellow 2027 defensive prospect at Trinity, Sebastian Blue, will also be at UK this weekend. He has offers from EKU and Southern Miss. He's 6'3, 250 pounds and works with Chris Vaughn.

2026 Alabama linebacker Monroe Partin visited for spring practice today. The 6'4, 215-pound prospect has offers from USF, South Alabama, and UAB, among others.
