Pony Up

Preface this by saying I’ve been on the side of the fan base that feels like it’s crazy to want to fire stoops considering the job he’s done. Also considering what is out there in terms of a worthy replacement. I can’t see many coming to Lexington in the state it’s in, and truly improving on the W-L record very quickly, but it’s not impossible by any means. I think the tools are there tbh.

But after tonight, I can’t help but feel like players are turned off to Stoops message. I’ve seen uninspired play. Bad penalties. Miscommunication. All season. Never really got better. Transfers are probably getting ready to roll here soon. I’m really running out of patience with Stoops. Same start and finish every year. Louisville is gonna whip us, and that’ll be the icing on the cake before we get the “barely eligible bowl” against JMU.

Maybe we should… “pony up” and hit the buyout. Start over and let someone else continue the revamp. I love Stoops as a coach. He’s been a blessing for us, but I think it’s time..

Tough season

I wasn't quite as high on this crew as many seemed to be, but it's disheartening.

Might be great kids, but come across as more concerned with showboat and finger pointing.

Disciplined play is very lacking.

This South Carolina game is the third this team should have won that they lost. No where near an Alabama or Georgia level, but getting boat raced????

Usually poor execution comes from poor practice. The fact that every week the coaches say they've had good practices make me wonder what they were watching or wanting to see.

What is it with offensive coordinators?

And their play calling at times. And it isn’t just us. I watched a lot of football games yesterday and 4 or 5 times it was 3rd and 4/5 and they call a 20-25 yard pass play. I understand the element of surprise, but I’m not sure I saw one college team complete the pass. It ended their drives each time. I would think it is much easier to complete a 4 yard pass. Heck I think a run would get you a first down more often than a 20 yard pass. Help me understand.

Reed Sheppard/MikeCasey

For those of you, who had the opportunity to see Mike Casey play prior to the tragic automobile accident. Would you agree with me that the similarities between Mike and Reed are very very similar?

Quietly with no flash controls the game.

Always anticipates the next move on offense and defense.

Totally unselfish.

Incredible passer.

Game flows better when they were/are in there.

Not worried about scoring…but scores when appropriate…probably passes up shots to a fault in deference to teammates.

A real leader.

I could go on.

Hand up. I was wrong

I’ve been one of the biggest Stoops advocates, this year especially. If you go 8-4 this year, the fan base has no reason to be mad. But 7-5 at best? Losing to a 4-6 team that we’ve owned the past decade? Something has to change. Can’t spend this kind of money on a 6-6 season with the best team we’ve had on paper a while. Tired of always playing for a FG, letting teams dink & dime their way down the field. It’s ridiculous. Get rid of Barnhart while you’re at it. He’s not helping with NIL. I don’t care how the third rate athletics are doing. Find someone who will demand success from the money maker of the school.

Inexcusable

There will be people still defending this result and the staff. I have no idea what it will take to wake up. It’s more exhausting than watching this program completely deteriorate from the inside out.

Those who feel the need to protect Stoops and this island of misfit toys he overpays, so be it. Have a nice Thanksgiving and enjoy the holidays while we lose some Mickey mouse bowl in Memphis or whatnot to some joke program as we move into further irrelevance going into the new SEC.

To quote Stoops: “if you don’t like change, you’re going to like irrelevance even less.”

Mark Stoops

I’m tired of his attitude. I’m tired of the way he’s coaching his teams. I’m tired of the entire coaching staff running their mouths only to get slapped around. Mark Stoops for 2 seasons now has been out coached in 95% of the games. What’s going to change? Will anything change? His teams have no fire. They aren’t doing the little things right. They’re using an Australian punter like an American punter and they took a spread QB and instead of playing to his strengths decided to force him into a system.
