Man, this could get ugly in a hurry - like Jokeresque ugly

If we, as expected, lose a bunch in the portal and our recruiting class falls completely apart (which it appears it may be doing), how low will this go? Are we looking at 1 or 2 wins next year with a bunch of blowouts? UKFB is not anything like UKBB when it comes to appealing to a transfer. We won't 'reload' through the portal in this atmosphere. I mean, are we really gonna hit the very lowest low this program has seen, maybe lower than Joker's last year? Hard to believe the program would disintegrate so quickly (I guess look no further than FSU, though). But, the past several recruiting classes have not been 'recruit and develop', they've been stopgap/plugging holes and go to the portal. I don't know how to fix it and I doubt Stoops does, either.

Honestly, having suffered for most of my 50+ years watching bad UK football teams play, if we sink really, really low again, I don't know if I can muster enough enthusiasm to even watch them flounder around and get drilled week after week. I'm pretty demoralized by this season, by what I anticipate happening this offseason and looking at next season which, if we're fortunate, may net another 4 wins. My patience and willingness to be fired up for FB season is waning badly at the moment.

Football Another DL portal rumor

Have heard that Tommy Ziesmer could be one to watch possibly going into the portal for UK.

Hate that we are at this point where part of the job is getting out in front of things like this with players who are already at UK and haven't announced anything but that is one I've heard about as leaning that way.

Would follow Keeshawn Silver's entry this afternoon.

Faith in Pope ...

No one realistically believed this team wouldn't take a loss(es). Our ace in the hole is believing in Pope to teach these guys through this. Nearly all of these players landed at schools that were mid-majors for a variety of reasons. I believe these guys will go through an adjustment period mentally as they convince themselves that they belong at Kentucky ... that they are "good enough" to wear the jersey. Almonor has already stated that "he didn't belong at Kentucky" ... admittedly, I'm not fully aware of the context in which the statement was made. Anyway, I believe there will be a mental component to their adjustments and believing they can complete on the largest stage in college basketball. It will be up to Pope to nurture these guys and teach them to work within the system and believe in themselves and their teammates ... to believe they belong here and win here, which I believe they will do. They will figure it out and they will take losses as they figure it out. Hopefully, by February we will be well on our way and looking hopefully at a successful post-season.

We as a fanbase need to discuss how...

Josh Allen is the reason why this program has been set back a ton. Our staff looks for guys they can develop over guys who can actually play SEC ball from the day that they step on campus. They recruit these raw kids who can't even play in the FCS after they transfer from here. I don't think this gets talked about enough either. Josh Allen will always be a Kentucky football legend, but the fact that this staff still believes they can develop is laughable.

Bama bias, CFP ignorance

If Alabama were to lose to SC on the road by 2 points, then go 6-0 with 3 top 25 wins in that span, would they stay ranked behind South Carolina who goes 4-2 in that same span, with a 3 TD loss in the 2nd to last game to an unranked 6-6 team? Would Bama only move up 1 spot in the CFP rankings for a top 12 win in week 12 on the road? The answer is, absolutely not. It's just idiotic. South Carolina has the best resume in college football the last 6 weeks, and probably the hottest team in the nation, but they move up 1 spot for beating an ACC championship game team, but also get placed behind an ACC team that has lost 2 of its last 3 games, to unranked teams nonetheless. That team also has ZERO top 25 wins on the season. ZERO. What a joke.

South Carolina got screwed. I thought the whole point was the best teams get in? The committee really is punishing them that much for losses to 3 ranked teams early in the season with a freshman QB? THat's clearly a much better team now, and everyone can agree on that. But Bama gets dogwalked in game 11 and they get in because of a 2pt home win in game 5?

I dislike Beamer and SC very much, but this is just depressing to see. Keeping out the hottest team, because of 2 top 15 losses and a loss to LSU from a bad call in week 3. Bama gets to lose to 2 unranked teams, but oh well; they have the 2 pt head to head win in Tuscaloosa. For anyone defending that, good luck explaining why 9-3 Florida got a BCS in 2018 over 9-3 Kentucky who beat them handidly at home.

Pathetic game tonight

We were simply terrible and tonight was eye opening. This has been coming for the past couple games though as we have sucked in those games as well. Pope has to get these guys back to playing confident winning basketball. Maybe start with not having Amari (happy feet) trying to initiate offense at the top of the key? Or maybe letting Garrison rot on the bench because the guy is 💩 in a bucket? Just a couple of thoughts.

Football The Conversation Right Now

Kentucky is aiming to hit the ground running ASAP in the transfer portal but the No. 1 question facing the staff right now is quarterback.

Can confirm that right now internal deliberations are centering on what to do behind center going into next season.

Have heard that it is unlikely BVG would be around beyond this year. Wimsatt, I think you pretty much know who he is at this point, and so a lot would be riding on Boley's development this offseason.

My sense is no decision has been made. I could see Kentucky going and getting an obvious QB1 (would be a big investment) or bringing in another possible QB1 to compete for the job. But I don't think a decision has been made at this point.

Maybe other than how the offensive line plays out the decisions here will have the biggest impact on next year's team.

FB Recruiting Flip Watch...

Wisconsin WR Cam Miller commit is one to watch with signing day almost here.

Believe it was Nick Roush who mentioned it first yesterday, checked in and believe they stand a good chance.

Someone Daikiel Shorts recruited for a long time and I was a bit surprised when he didn't commit earlier. I thought he was supposed to commit to Kentucky the first time he made a decision but that fell apart.

Was thinking that they would be wrapped up at wide receive but if they can pull that flip off then it would make sense because he's someone they liked early on in the process. Will have more on him soon.

Tenn RB Khalifa Keith to the Portal

Just saw that Tennessee RB Khalifa Keith is entering the portal- a little blast from the past. Keith was commited to UK for a long time before flipping to UT before signing day. Looks like hes played in 15 games over 2 years for the Vols but hasnt gotten many carries in his career so far. Had 21 carries this past year for 100 yards & a TD but he did average 4.8 ypc.

Clearly UK needs an RB from the portal. I have no idea if Keith would be the guy but the previous relationship is there.

This thread is for the matchup between the number 1 seed and winner of the 16/17 game.

1. It's a Wonderful Life vs. Ernest Saves Christmas

One is perhaps one of the most celebrated films of all time featuring a master thespian, and the other is somewhat of a cult classic starring a very underappreciated actor. Vote with your heart.
