Delphi, IN Murders

Has anyone else been following this case? Two girls, 13 & 14, were dropped off for a few hours at a nature trail last month. One later took a picture of the other on an old railway bridge over a creek and posted it on Instagram. A few hours later, they didn't return and were found murdered along the creek a half mile up from the bridge. One of the girls took a photo of a man walking on the bridge towards them and later recorded a man's voice saying "down the hill" before they were killed. $200,000+ reward so far.

Could this team win the NC

I've had some good talks with my colleagues about this just wondering others input.
LaFamilia roster in all their primes could they win a national title? Let's say Pope is the head coach with current staff and this is his roster.

Sr
G- Grady 6-5 205
G- Canada 6-6 198
F- Sestina 6-9 234
F- K.Kanter 6-10 245
Jr
C- Willie Cauley-Stein 7-0 240
So
G- Aa Harrison 6-6 212
G- An Harrison 6-6 210
Fr
G- Eric Bledsoe 6-1 190
G- James Young 6-6 215
C- Daniel Orton 6-11 255

Starters/Bench
G- Bledsoe/An Harrison
G- An Harrison/Grady
G- Aa Harrison/Young
F- Sestina/K.Kanter
C- WCS/Orton

I argue that team could cut the nets down in April. My co-workers say it's a very flawed team but are UL fans.

Make the Duke love make sense

All the pundits I have seen act like Duke is one of, if not, the favorites to win it all. Why? Seriously. They are not that impressive offensively, and their defensive rating is so high because they are destroying their cupcakes. Their first 2 games, they averaged 98, and in the 9 games since they are averaging 74. Against their currently ranked opponents, they have given up 78, 77 and 75.

It must be the Flagg factor, because I am not seeing an overly impressive team.

Silver to the Trojans - his stats and their reflection of our overall defensive scheme

KSR reports Silver is committed to USC. I was surprised how uninspiring his stats were while at UK. I know - he's a NG in our scheme and their job is to absorb blockers and not necessarily make tackles. Well, imo, he certainly did the second part of that sentence. 24 games with 43 tackles (1.8/game), 3 TFLs and 1 sack. That's truly not much production out of the NG position. And, I'm guessing that many of those plays included Deone Walker beside him who drew more than his share of double teams so Silver should not have been double teamed that often.

Now, if he did exactly as he was asked very effectively, and that could be the case, I would question why we play such a scheme. It certainly could be observed that our DL is coached to be passive, not fight to penetrate and blow up plays but rather to hold up as many blockers as possible so someone behind them can make the play. I'm sure that's how certain schemes are designed but I have to say I absolutely hate it if that's what's been happening on the DL. It is one more indication, as many have pointed out, that our scheme is very passive, bend-don't-break, keep everything in front of you, etc. Since in many SEC games we're at a talent deficit, does it make any sense to be overly passive and concede yards time and time again as long as we don't give up 'the big play'? Give a team with more talent enough opportunities and they will break a big one. Teams with talent advantages can be patient and grind it down the field. We saw this repeatedly this year. Does this passivity also translate into why we're rarely near the top in takeaways?

I doubt it will happen as long as Stoops is at UK, but I would really like to see more of a focus on the front 7 creating havoc and TFLs. Yes, we'll give up more big plays. But, we might also be better on 3rd down and creating turnovers. I don't mean we should blitz every down but our DL should be taught how to SHED (not absorb) blocks, stay in their lane/assignment and find the ballcarrier. If you're main task is to hold your ground and stand up the OL in front of you, the ballcarrier is at least to the 2nd level before anyone will be able to make a tackle. That just seems stupid to me.

As for Silver, my assessment was he was OK but not a difference maker. We definitely weren't a stone wall against the run, many of them between the guards. And, at least judging from his stats, he was no threat to pressure or sack the QB. Will we miss him? Maybe. But, that's more an indictment of our lack of recruiting than Silver's production.

If I may ask a favor!

Firstly, howdy! I have been a long, long-time lurker here on this site. I would guess since the later Tubby years. Been a cat fan since the 60's but lived in and out of state and did not get to watch much early until the mid 70's. Watching delayed telecasts, Jefferson Pilot, pre-ESPN and such coverage. I have got to witness 4 National Championships, I wish I could count the 58 ship, but I would not be born until December of that year.

Anyway, let me cut to the chase. I was an Eastern Kentucky resident until July of this year, and due to a family emergency in my wife's family we had to move here to the Philippines. I have been fortunate that someone has been televising UK games on regular YouTube. But each broadcast gets interrupted more and more. The Louisville game was cut completely off, but the person doing the stream was able to bypass it, yet the image was no larger than an iPad on a 55" tv. Still, it was watchable. Now though, I am fearful that this person who streams will be cutoff. Hopefully not, but I suppose no guarantees.

I have tried a VPN, and tbh, they are not very reliable. I had to purchase my tv here in the Philippines and it will not allow me VPN access. The only other 2 options are my PC and it will not allow either. I was hoping maybe someone would post a stream access or something. If BWO puts in a tape delay, I can deal with that. Even though the game is on my birthday, the 21st, I won't get to watch it live until 6 am here in the Philippines. (It would be like the old days of tape delay, lol). Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Thank all of you! Merry Christmas! And GO BIG BLUE!

Wallace Unamba OL

Haven't seen anything about this guy, 6'-4" 330lb. OT transfer from New Mexico. Article I read says he has one year of eligibility left, because he was a JUCO before redshirting at FAU then playing at UNM. Now with this new rule that JUCO doesn't count against your eligibility, does this give him an additional two years of eligibility if he chooses to use it? Wouldn't mind three years of him if he turns out to be a solid addition.

KSR video about Jaxson Robinson

KSR just posted a video by Tyler Thompson about Jaxson Robinson's road to Kentucky including his high school, stops at Texas A&M (COVID year), Arkansas (apparently there was a problem with Musselman that he doesn't want to talk about), finally going to play 2 years at BYU under Pope before following him here. His mom and his aunt, who is a former WNBA player and current WNBA assistant coach are major influences in his life. How Mark Pope helped save Jaxson Robinson's basketball career

Toughest stretch for SEC play

When the ooc schedule got released I circled that week UK had to play at Clemson and then go west to play Zaga. I’ve been focusing more on the SEC schedule, which will be brutal, but one stretch is looking like it will be a doozy.

Feb 22 @ Bama
Feb 26 @ OU
March 1 vs Auburn

That’s currently three top 15 teams in a week’s time. SEC will be a battle every game.

Analyzing SEC Basketball Final Records

It's that time of year where it's slow at work and I spend time making worthless spreadsheets.

For the sake of comparison, I made an assumption that all currently ranked SEC teams lose all games on the road to other SEC ranked teams. Any other game at home is considered a win. Any game vs a non-ranked team is considered a win. Any road game vs a ranked team is a loss.

There is obviously some nuance to rankings, but regardless, in this case:

Kentucky 14 -4
Florida 14 - 4
Tennessee 11 - 6
Auburn 14 - 4
Alabama 14 - 4
Oklahoma 13 -5
Texas A&M 14 -4
Ole Miss 15 - 3

If there is any take away, it's that if Tennesee is a stock, you sell now. They face more ranked teams on the road than any SEC team. In addition, their coach is Rick Barnes who is famous for Feb / March collapse.
