UK players' listed vs. actual heights

Completely unscientific opinion here having only seen these guys on TV up this point, and I realize "listed" heights are pretty meaningless. Having said that, some of the players don't look like their listed heights to me. I'm especially curious what others think, especially those of you who've been fortunate enough to see them live and up close.
  • Thiero in particular looks taller than 6'8" to me. I know he's grown since he's been here (from what 6'5" or 6'6"?), but he just looks taller. Maybe it's because he jumps out of the gym, idk.
  • Rob and Reed look about their listed heights of 6'3" to me.
  • DJ does *not* look like he's 6'4" to me...looks shorter.
  • I swear Reeves has grown and looks taller than 6'6" to me.
  • Tre looks about right at 6'9".
  • Edwards looks shorter than 6'8" to me.
  • The 7-footers I can't really tell tbh.

Neal Brown

20 point bowl win...he's coming folks. The Air Raid horns are sounding once again in the Big10. No horns or sooners...11-12 win season, conference title, and playoff very possible for ya boy next year.

Heard all you cats talking about Sumerall being the guy...he said alright I'll show you.

NB will be near the top of some lists next season.

Over/Under The Wade twins finish their college careers at Colorado...

I feel sure Keaton will get playing time. Solid OLB.
Destin is the question. Playing time at QB will be tough to get. Coach Primes son is there. They are bringing in two three star high school QBs.
QB from Vandy is transferring in. And whatever you think about Coach Prime he is going to recruit well.
I just hope Dad doesn't mess up Keatens career because Destin is just not good enough. Something to keep an eye on.

UK scoring after Ill St game

Currently UK has 5 players averaging 10+ ppg (2 from the bench).
Even though I expect Reeves to be highlighted vs his old team, it is not crazy to think we could have 7 players averaging 10+ ppg after that game. All it would take is:
1) Edwards get 11
2) Bradshaw get 16
The current 5, even if didn't score would remain 10+.

Theiro is a bit too far away to reach 10+ in one game (34 pts away), as is Onyenso (25 away). Although with 12 points, Theiro could get up to 8.0 ppg as the 8th scorer. He may have gotten there last game (was 4 away) if not for the pulled-back.

Ron Mercer vs Justin Edwards

As we all try to be patient with Edwards, was just recalling what a disappointing season Ron Mercer was having his freshman year before that NCAA tourney final.

Some flashes here and there but I remember him not living up to the hype for most of that season. Fortunately, that is one of the greatest UK teams of all time, and his production wasn’t needed most of the time.

And of course, it wasn’t some foregone conclusion that Mercer would be a one and done like JE. Mercer came back and had an excellent soph season.

I say all this to say that it took Mercer some time to get going, and there are some similarities in their games.

Fun fact: I believe Mercer is still the only player in NCAA history to only play two seasons of college ball but still play in 12 tourney games.

It's amazing what can be accomplished when players accept their role (Even if it's a lesser one than they may want)

If Dilly and Shep were at any other school in the country they would be starters and putting up big numbers if they played selfishly.
They have accepted coming off the bench and are being praised for their all-around play.
Adou Thiero if he were getting 30 minutes a game I could see him as a threat to be a double- double guy. 10 pts and 10 boards.
I have not seen any signs of poubting or I gotta get mine when they are in.
This is so refreshing and not common today and as a result we are flourishing. This group is a pleasure to watch.

Coming up next

Actually took a few days away from work here with the early signing period wrapping up and Christmas rolling around. Hope everybody here was able to spend some time with folks they love.

We'll get back into covering UK's portal and maybe HS recruiting efforts, recapping the early signing class, digging into those guys a lot more. Then trying to put together a big picture assessment of what the team looks like next year, what the offseason talking points are going to be, and previewing the Clemson game. The SEC hoops slate starts next week.

Thanks for being patient as we took some time away and hope everyone here had a great day.

Recruiting reality

Great day yesterday, for sure. But the reality is that we are always fighting a huge up-hill battle, given our conference affiliation.

While our class was ranked 25th nationally (247), we ranked 13th in the SEC (counting Texas & Oklahoma).

Still, give Stoops credit, at least we're in the ballpark, which is way better than it used to be.
