Really ESPN?

The funny thing was that you could tell how the game was going for Duke by how much Bilas was talking. The whole first half and up to about the 9 minute mark of the second half he couldn't keep his mouth shut then as the momentum turned he started talking less and less. At the end, you could tell he was disappointed just by the tone of his voice and the lack of excitement in his voice. Not saying it was a bias issue I just found it kind of funny.

Could Jon Sumrall be the football team's Mark Pope?

Sumrall checks all the boxes in what you would be looking for IMO. The thing with replacing Stoops is, if this was his third year here he would likely be gone after this season, but because he has been here 11 years with some success along the way it makes it more difficult notwithstanding the money that's involved.

Disrespect

I know they don’t care, but having the entire highlight reel be Duke highlights, when Duke lost, 24 hours later, is a good way to get fans of the winning team to stop even bothering to watch.

It’s silly, and just…not good marketing. The Duke fan base is limited. Highlight packages should focus on the winning team. So the fans of the winning team keep watching.

What was up with the stupid Duke fans hand gestures last night?

It’s a signal to the refs that if you want that bag of cash you better start blowing that whistle. If you watch the play where Flaggs’ hand goes out of bounds, his foot had already been on the line. The ref, Joe Lindsey, standing there looking right at it, wasn’t going to call it then the obvious happened and he had to. Check it and see.

Rankings

No - that's not obvious. If we played tomorrow, they might beat us right back. Then how would they rank us - tied?

The further the season goes on, you can't just rank the teams who won one week automatically ahead of the teams they beat because there are going to be other teams in there who beat them and vice versa.
Correct! But it isn’t further along in the season. It is the beginning of the season. The current rankings are mostly based on pure bullshit and wishful thinking, plus a huge dash of bias. Given that, the head to head victory absolutely should take priority over….fantasy nonsense bullshit. Currently we have THREE wins that are all better than any Duke win, including a win ver Duke themselves. Anyone ranking them ahead of us isn’t basing it on reality — they are basing it on personal bias.

That can change, further in the season, when there is more data. For now, base it on the days available.

NIL and the disappointing North Carolina State season

I've been saying this.

I will never tell any of you or especially the Richie riches on how to spend their extra money but whats the ROI?

I work in finance and just can't see the ROI for UK football with NIL. If the spending isn't gonna win a national title or the sec or most likely, not make a playoff...what's the point of the spending?

Counter argument is you have to try to have the slim to none chance outlined above so it's a bit of a lose-lose for fans at a program like UK or even NC State.
Example #1.....Indiana seems to have made it work at least this season for ROI. I mean they are 10-0 and in the CFP
