My father chastised me for making a "deal" out of it. He basically said, "those men died so that people would have the freedom to wade in that pool, no matter how you feel about it."

He's WRONG of course, but it's funny; you can be a 60 year old man, like me, but when your Dad gets on you, you immediately feel like a little kid again. LOL

Same words I heard from Vietnam veterans about the abuses they took when they returned from serving their country. "We served so that people would have the freedom to say what they say about us, no matter if it's wrong, no matter how you feel about it."

Round 8 UK Basketball Draft

With 5 rounds in the books, here’s my analysis so far.

Without naming names, need look no further than Rupp’s early championship teams to see that the emphasis has been on modern players. The only pre-1960 player chosen was my first round selection of Cliff Hagan. Louie Dampier and Dan Issel are the only pre-1970 players taken. That said, these posters have all shown great basketball knowledge with their choices. I don’t see a single team that makes me say “eww, glad I don’t have that team.” Lots of attention is being paid to chemistry and team makeup, as evidenced by @DraftCat’s Last picks. I was looking at his team saying “eek, great players but no scoring from the guard spots.” Then he drafts Dillingham and Fitch with consecutive picks.

My favorite teams so far…

@Son_Of_Saul Yikes. Wall & Cuz anchoring the 1 and 5 around Meeks, Reeves, & PJ is frightening.

@RunninRichie my only question for his team was who he’d pick as his big man and he got an all-American in Rick Robey.

@JHannibalSmith I love the electricity of Chapman & Mercer at the 2 and 3 spots and McCarty is the perfect complimentary piece at the 4.

Steals of the draft…

Tony Delk at 8 was crazy. I considered him at #4 easily a top 5 UK player of all time.

Keith Bogans at 19. He’s the fourth leading scorer is school history. I had him pegged as a borderline first/second rounder.

Kevin Grevey in the 5th round. I know we’re shying away from older players but wow. All-American scoring machine guard who could rebound.

All in all though, there haven’t been a whole lot of big surprise picks or reaches because I think we all kinda know our stuff. Kentucky fans just have a good knowledge of their history. The next few rounds will be really interesting as we choose our role players and fill any needs. It’s been a blast so far fellas. Let’s keep a’goin!

Big Upsets - what it means

Kids are definitely transferring for playing time, but if they are 2-3 year backups are they really going to change the college landscape by going to a new home? Now if a kid is a starter and is bought by another program that's a different deal. Kids are flocking to places playing the most NIL. The big Texas schools, OSU, Bama, Tn are trying to buy success. My favorite take was a vol fan stating their 8m dollar QB didn't understand running out of bounds with no time ended the game.

How did Trump shoot it down? I don't remember Trump ever serving in the House.

sam and his boyhood hero, "Border Bill" Do you have "Border Bill" volume 1? Keep it in the plastic sleeve if you want to preserve it's value. Same goes with the action figures (they're NOT DOLLS!!)

As if ANY of the millions of criminals (just illegally crossing the border is a major crime in legitimately run countries) are actually seeking asylum....

The Democrat party lives to exploit the world BECAUSE their voters ARE abusers themselves. The honorable person understands that the person lying when the truth is known is doing just that. They are abusing the person to whom they're speaking. That's why the liberals can't help themselves here.

Imagine the abuses they will do to the people of this country when the next D is elected. president. They will pale in comparison to the abuses they commit at their jobs, in their homes, and online

Vandy - what should UK be working on?

Unfortunately, a lot of our fans struggle with actual comprehension of the game.

There were dozens of posts and threads, hell maybe a hundred, last season and off-season, and this season, until the Ole Miss game complaining about our taking way too many shots down the field, “just to keep one player happy.”

After Barion’s 4th Down catch, a regular poster suggested we need to take more shots down the field to him.

OK.

Sure.
Bless their hearts. I know they are excited about football season after a long summer with no sports. But football is really just a stop gap for them until basketball starts. We do not have a knowledgeable football fanbase. We do have a knowledgeable basketball fanbase, but the entitlement due us in basketball cannot roll over into the football realm.

Miami comes back from 25 down….

So, you CAN launch, lower your head, and smash into an opponent’s helmet with the crown of your own helmet . . . if you are your conferences’ only reasonable hope for the Play Offs.

That video could be used as the perfect example of targeting!!

I think the conference champion gets in, but their only hope of getting 2 in is having 2 1 loss teams. The hit on the QB was a textbook targeting and was game deciding.

Round 8 UK Basketball Draft

Likely a top 10 pick if basketball never evolved to what it is today. His stats and accolades are crazy.

Interesting thing about Cotton Nash to me while researching is he averaged 30 PPG his rookie year in the NBA. Decided to retire after his rookie year from basketball and played mostly Minor league baseball.. few years in the majors but only 3-6 games per year in the Show.
I… did not realize that. Very fascinating.

Edit: I just looked it up and he only averaged 3 ppg, not 30 lol.

If we are considering UK only Careers he ranks up there with the best.

Round 8 UK Basketball Draft

I’ll take 3 time consensus AA, 3 time All-SEC, and NCAA all region player Cotton Nash who averaged a ridiculous 22.7 points/12.7 rebounds per game.
