Just So Predictable

Well, we scored 48 and played just about everyone on the roster a lot of snaps. Can't complain too much, honestly. We all knew that MS was going to be a glorified practice.
I don’t know if it’s so much complain as it is that there is literally nothing to take away from that game. Maybe there is a hidden gem in there somewhere I’ve forgotten but that is likely the worst team UK has played in 40 years or more if not ever.

So I don’t really take much even from the Boley performance good or bad. I guess you might draw some correlation between he and vandagriff if someone chooses to. I saw him 5 times in hs and he has the size and solid not great arm which is why he had a good ranking when he was younger although it dwindled some. But his issue in hs was decision making on throws a little more downfield and propensity to run around in circles in the pocket. I’m not sure that game yesterday tells me that those things are better. I would like to see him in another game like UF to get more looks against sec athletes.

Duke is a Juggernaut!

dauster on field of 68 said th same crap last night. If maluach didn’t get hurt, or dude didn’t miss every open shot they win that game, I’m tired of the media acting like Kentucky got lucky. Kentucky missed open shots, butler had cramps to and payed through them, Robinson had 1 point, Kentucky missed wide ass open shots to. This is the media trying to take some slack off scheyer, and duke fans being hypocrites like they always are minus the 2 who post on here.

Would you rather....

I'd argue a 2010 to 2019 cal roster is fine, minus cal as the coach. A lot of guys would have won multiple national titles with those rosters. To be fair, the best cal teams had some good experience along with the super talented frosh.

2010 had Patterson, Miller and liggins and even Ramon and perry.
2011 had Miller, liggins, Josh h.
2012 had Miller and Jones and lamb.
2015 had a bunch of key returnees.
2017 and 2019 did as well.
Cal built boneheaded rosters with missing roles, redundant roles, and one-dimensional players able to fill roles on paper but not in actual Div-1 basketball. Other coaches could have done better with those rosters but that doesn’t lift them to the level of fine. The problem was better in some years and worse in others but very few of Cal’s rosters wouldn’t have benefited greatly from being a little lighter in the star-power department and a little heavier in the this-is-an-actual-basketball-team department. Feel free to disagree.

WOW !!! SUMRALL and tulane drills navy

I'd argue if you fire a guy who has made 8 straight bowl games after one 4 and 8 or maybe 5 and 7 season if we somehow beat UL, it would make the next guy wonder what happens if he gets off to a slow start n year 1.

This is Kentucky, not a top program.

Having said all that, I'd love to have a new coach. It's gotten stale and we aren't gonna win the SEC or a national title no matter what so maybe a new blood guy lucks out and makes the playoff once in 10 years. Stoops won't do it IMO.
If you just go off paper, this is true. It’s more about the trajectory of the program. Last 5 years? Up, down, or holding the line? I know where I think the consistent trajectory has been.

UK Women vs. UofL

I swear, it shows if you make a good hire the program can get better pretty quick now too. Indiana was smart to lock up their coach Yesterday. I would have loved to see what he could do here. I mean he’s only done it one year but he’s been a winner wherever he’s been and they look really good. Coach Brooks got an AA commit and then a win over Louisville who has had a great women’s program for awhile now.
With NIL and the new transfer rules, it’s a lot easier to turn a basketball team completely around in one season. Way easier than it used to be. It helps shave a couple or three years off rebuilding a football program as well.

Boley looked good

Boley was at least able to come off the first read and go through the route tree. Thats an improvement over BV. Problem is, BV is tough as nails and can get some yards when the play goes bust (and that’s often with the horrid o-line). I’ve said it all year and will continue to bang the drum, Hamdan sucks. He’s done nothing to adjust his “system” to help BV and the offense. Literally no screen game. Continues to roll him left. Three and four options when BV is clearly one read and the line can’t hold long enough to get through the routes anyway. On drop backs he needs to have one read, a check down, and then get the hell out of dodge. Some simple RPO concepts and for the love of all things holy, implement a damned screen game. The offense, with the current “talent”, is never going to be great but could certainly be better. Hamadan hasn’t done a damn thing schematically to help that.

Right on cue: the recipe for a team turmoil is brewing at Arkansas.

2. Karter Knox, who expressed his sole reason for choosing Calipari being his desire for NBA expediency, is only playing 12 minutes per game while shooting 17% from the field and 14% from three point land.
It's almost like most of the guys that Cal recruited that now play in the NBA would've gotten there playing for any number of other coaches, because they were just that good and not because Cal has some magic "NBA" wand that he wields. Even the Nick Richards of the world got there because they worked their tails off and they wanted it badly. I'm not a Cal hater, but I definitely think his role in getting guys to the NBA has been waaayyyyyyy overstated. He has recuited NBA players, period!

D-League

Good morning from ATX. Currently 67°F and cloudy. Today's high may reach 85°F.

Ladies defeated evil Cards at Memorial yesterday in an OT game, 71-61. Wife and I watched it. First win by Lady Cats against Louisville since 2015. I maintain Coach Brooks is special.

Heading out for a hike after mandatory comments in Political thread. Packing for Germany trip. Laundry and usual chores also on the agenda. Watching "Tulsa King" this afternoon.

Wishing y'all a peaceful Sunday.

Another Tulsa King that doesn’t disappoint.

POLITICAL THREAD

The dumbass lady in bucks County Pennsylvania should be imprisoned. In California they know they're going to face a Democrat judge so they don't care.
It’s astounding the sheer ignorance of her statement saying she is counting the illegal ballots so that a court will pay attention to this… when the state’s Supreme Court literally just ruled on this issue prior to the election. But I guess in HER opinion, they didn’t rule the right way.

WOW !!! SUMRALL and tulane drills navy

Sumrall can't fail any worse than Stoops is failing right now.

What are you saying? Keep the status quo rather than TRYING to improve the program with an experienced D1 WINNING head coach?

Sumrall is a WINNER.
Stoops is a LOSING HC.
My fear is that if Stoops stays is that NIL resources will dry up, season ticket sales will plummet and the overall trajectory of the team will be on life support. Recruiting will be difficult and key players will transfer out. I think a change will reinvigorate tge fan base and you will see a surge in NIL resources much like we did with basketball. There’s just a lot of the very same feel around football right now as we had around basketball after flaming out last season.
