***** OFFICIAL KENTUCKY VS TEXAS GAME THREAD *****

Oklahoma and Missouri are going to be cake walks. Beat Auburn or Arkansas and we are a 2 seed.

I'm beginning to think you are effing with people.

This team has 2 total road wins this season and won each by 5 points. There aren't going to be any cakewalks on the road.

We don't play Arkansas again. The fact that you think we are gonna magically win out as injured as we are is admirable delusion.

Garrison SMH

I couldn’t believe it. I rewound it multiple times because it was so bad.
That happened few times last night, and not just Garrison. It’s something Amari does as well. I can’t figure these dudes out? It’s almost as if they are terrified to engage help defense. Like Pope has told them not to do it under any circumstance. I don’t know any other way to explain how they just stand there and watch a lay up?

Tom Izzo and Nate Oats

Just a random thought while waiting to fly home on a Sunday.

Tom Izzo passed Bobby Knight for the all time Big 10 wins record (thank you for that) and he’s having a big comeback season after some middling years.

But my question is when Izzo does hang it up in a few years do you think Oats takes the job or stays at Alabama because it’s always been rumored that he wants the MSU job when Izzo retires.

Honestly, if I’m IU I sit down with him, pass him a blank check and say “ fill in the numbers”.
Oats will end up with MSU. Hes been waiting that job out for a few years now. I know people that know him and they all say the same thing.

And I hate it because hate the Spartans and their fans.

Preach Draymond, preach.

The irony from Draymond is that the Warriors brought that change for the most part (also Rockets/Suns with Mike D'Antoni). Watched the most of a game I had all year the other night and it focused on the two biggest problems. The Sixers were sitting half their team and the Celtics shot over 50 threes. It was at a get together, if I were home I would have turned the channel even though I grew up a Sixers fan.

No QB, no back up QB and no back up to the backup

Is it laziness or is the team lost playing out of their roles? Or is it a little bit of both even?

The fact is, when you have 3 players out (and a 4th who fouled out).. everyone's responsibility shifts up. Backups become starters, 3rd stringers are now backups. A PF no longer has a capable Center for paint help, etc etc.. and you just can't feasibly expect every single player in this situation to just step into that role without any hiccups. Especially if that new role has added responsibilities such as a SG being the primary ball handler. I watched FAR more miscues, mistakes and overmatched players than I did just "laziness".

For sure, we didn't execute down the stretch. A lot of dumb mistakes. But.. that's what's going to happen when you ask maybe too much of a freshman player when they aren't ready. I just don't get how you can expect much more from a team that Vegas already expected to lose. The roster last night might not even be worth being at some mid-majors.. so yo expect to beat top35 Texas at their home (with or without their injury) was a tall order.

Pope post game

I'm sure most of you have heard or seen the post game. Highly frustrated head coach. "Good enough to win for 36 minutes".

Gotta be in the moment and close it out.

Missing players doesn't matter. The team was good enough to win.

Sounds like coach doesn't want to hear any more about who isn't there ..it's who is.

Complimentary on battle shown by Perry and Noah.

Pope's way of saying this shouldn't have ended this way.

My view: lack of contribution from some we have depended on.

My take: whatever the physical limitations of some of these guys are, no excuses. No more 'we need so and so back' or 'fighting with injury'. We know all that. EVERYbody knows all that. We dance with what we have to dance with.

And that's pretty much life. You can whine and hope and wish and what if all you want, but it doesn't matter. This is a pretty good college basketball team. Gotta play up to that.

Tyler Herro wins NBA 3-Point Contest

So to be clear, hitting a 3 to get his team to the elite 8 and taking it to OT despite the refs not calling fouls on the other team qualifies as a failure?

Herro did very well Here.

I'm betting elite 8 finishes will not get dogged as much in the current regime. They are the same thing though.

It’s like when I point out the fact that Rick Pitino went 1-3 in Final Fours and Cal went 1-4 at Kentucky.

And Dean Smith went 2-11 but it’s sacrilege to question his record

Season is over

There is no prize awarded for being the first to jump off the bandwagon or for the most breathless panic.

Stay calm, be invested, cheer on our Cats and give them a lift, GO BIG BLUE!!!

Oh, good! Thought I missed the announcement after seeing all of the whining and pity party stuff. Kentucky Sports Report still owes my buddy a hat or 3, so it's kind of a sore spot for all of us still

3-Point Shooting Statistics - Updated Through 21 Games

Oweh at a brutal 33% now. For a 2 guard in Pope's system this is really bad. Texas smartly left him wide open, and he bricked 4 of them before making the final heaven at the buzzer. He is a great player, but he needs to stick to his strength.
It may be an aberration, but Oweh's career 3-point percentage in conference play is only .242 ... .292 in SEC play for us.
A head-scratcher !!

Additionally, what I'd like to see from Oweh is to look for open shooters on the wings/corners when he runs into congestion on penetration into the paint. It is rare for him to kick it out to open shooters. He seems to have blinders on ...
Still, though, he's been a helluva player for us this year !!
