CI Wrestling Thread #56

I just found it entertaining that MJF clapped back at Korderas whose joined the long list of folks who bash everything about AEW to get clicks.

Maybe they are doing an MJF wants to get rid of all the old guys in AEW until the feud with Hangman finally takes off. It's not great but I'm sure we will get a good match out of it next week.

What are you listening to?

Bourbon and Beyond lineups have been announced. If I go, it will probably be on Saturday.
I'd be a definite lock to go if The Waterboys were included on Saturday. They are a fabulous, cosmic band ... in my opinion.

The Teskey Brothers are going to be there Friday.

This infographic is easy to digest, but my problem is that the top 1% have 44 trillion in assets. The bottom 50% or 167 million Americans has 3.7 trillion in total.

You bring up some really good points. Take a look at the outlays of our federal government in 2024.

  • I'd argue SS and Medicare should 100% be funded by ALL Americans as it is today, which is out of paychecks.
  • Defense should be funded by a combination of wealth taxes and imports. Wealth because we have a military to defend our wealth (not defend our jobs) and imports because we have a Navy to protect the oceans so that imports can be brought here.
  • Medicaid should probably be out of income tax.
  • Net interest should be from wealth and from imports.
  • I'm not sure what's in other mandatory but let's pull that from wealth and imports too.
  • Nondefense discretionary should probably be cut all the way down by Musk so that's gone. Ha

We have NO point guards right now. Take the top 2 PGs off any team and see how they do

People keep using the word "excuse" with this negative connotation.

There are "good" excuses. If you have the flu and you miss school, that is an "excused" absence. That's a good reason.

If my grandmother dies and I miss work, that is an "excuse."

An excuse is a reason or justification. An excuse isn't always a cop out or a bad thing like some of you keep posting.

How are yall going to feel

One more thing; I do not think Pope is a coach that doesn't care about defense or can't teach defense. It's just really hard to guard a guy who's quicker than you.
I agree 100% that it’s really hard to guard quicker players. My question is does Pope consider this when recruiting and building a roster … how big a part of his evaluation is assessment of defensive skills and to what degree does he evaluate the defensive side of a potential recruit’s overall skillset ?? Is he willing to overlook defensive liabilities in favor of shooting stroke ??

And I’m not suggesting we reallocate this to the bottom. Most of this wealth trickled from the middle class. I’d like to see this reappropriated to where it belongs.

No you wouldn't.

The taxes to provide your social safety net, i.e. your welfare state, have to come from the middle class as they do in Europe. That's the only way to collect them without stunting economic activity.

In your worldview, that money was "taken" from the middle class and "given" to the corporations and wealthy. It's just not the reality. That's not what happened. "Taking it back" fixes nothing.

Overreacting is the norm for this board

Any time somebody has to constantly bring up intelligence, they aren’t very intelligent as a person. You constantly bring it up. No I don’t want to be apart of the little group on here who virtue signals and tries to police what people post. And if people don’t take me seriously why do they constantly respond? I always bring reasoning jerkoffs like yourself just ignore them. Staying your little hole in Illinois and stop responding to me, all you do is nag people, and then talk about intelligence, like you as a person have any.
Calling someone a "jerkoff" is a strong indicator of intelligence. I am certain of that.

Next year , 15 scholarships

Bulk of minutes going to Oweh, Garrions, and an unproven Jasper Johnson is scary as hell, ngl. And the rotational players including two unproven freshmen, but no returning players, is not a good thing.

Essentially, we're acknowledging that we have one good (not great) player back in Oweh, a player that we hope will be good in Johnson, and big whose career numbers are 6.5ppg and under 5rpg in Garrsion. After that, we're hoping Moreno is more than the project he appears to be and that Lewis gives us something. You'd think that Chandler, Noah, and Perry will come back with hopes of more than 10mpg.

Pope has serious work to do.
Personally I don't see Moreno being the man next year. I know you didn't say that but I think alot of people believe he will be. He's a good player but will need strength and conditioning to be competitive in my opinion. I've watched him play in HS. He will be very good and I'm glad we got him but we need more help than he can give us
We have to hope Pope and staff have there eyes on some bigs and a starting PG. just my opinion

We’re always talking about the bottom having skin in the game, which is a phrase used when people talk about switching strictly to a consumption tax. I think DOGE will do a tremendous job at cutting the necessary pork to make a dent in our deficit, but I think we need to address this consolation of wealth if we want to be serious about lowering the debt.

NBA Thread

I'm one of the about 0.5% of Mavs fans that are excited about the AD for Luka trade. Max Christie was a throw-in in the trade for the Mavs, and he had 15 points 9 rebounds and was the best defender on the floor in his first game as a Mav. I enjoyed "Oncic" and "Irk" for the last 25 years as much as anyone, but it's nice have the "D" back in Dallas. The one year the Mavs won with Dirk, they surrounded him with athletes who could play defense. As to durability, AD has appeared in 118 regular season games over the last two seasons, Luka 92 as of this moment. Luka prefers a Euro-style 56 game regular season, and this isn't likely to change with age.

Now, the question is how much fire does AD still have in him? He's been one of the top 5 players in the NBA this season, and he is still just 31. AD is being completely disrespected locally in D/FW. As I recall, an inspired AD is a joy to watch. If he is hearing what they are saying about him around here, he should be really pissed off.

Side note, Jason Kidd was Frank Vogel's assistant when AD won with the Lakers and Vogel is now on the Mavs coaching staff.
