OK with < top 5 recruiting class

Recruiting is important. But the transfer portal is more important, unless you can get the next Wall, Davis, Zion, Flagg(?).
I’m sure you agree that high school recruiting is still critical to success of a CBB program desiring to perennially be in the chase. I think you’re just saying that what some define as “recruiting success” doesn’t really correlate well with winning championships in the current environment. And if so, I whole-heartedly agree with you. I would actually say recruiting OAD players is not only NOT necessary to winning championships today, it could be counterproductive to doing so – especially taking too many in a year (1 probably, 2 at the most).

I believe that the best recruiting for today involves smart evaluating and forecasting with a plan for continuity. Because returning players who have physically matured and gotten significantly better due to development and experience are the surest (practically required?) way to win a title according to the data as well as the eye test. Returning players year-to-year need to be the core, but you have to add to that obviously. And while an OAD freshman can be a piece of the puzzle, the one-year players that have the biggest impact on winning are much more likely to be the top transfers rather than a freshman – whether a “5-star” or “top 5” or whatever other qualifier one wants to put on it.

I think the best use of an OAD freshman is usually as a role player in the starting unit or as part of a tandem with an experienced player that probably has better developed skills (although less “talent”). Moreover, I think using an OAD freshman this way will usually also be more beneficial to the player’s goal and likely draft position.

Duke is a Juggernaut!

whoa whoa whoa who I made no excuses in my post. Take it easy. All I said was we could have used them. Never said we would have won. Isn't it common sense to say we could have used them instead of Maluach being unable to stay on the floor due to the cramping (glad it was cramping for a time wasn't sure), and James shoulder (again glad it wasn't serious for extended time) and of course Ngongba (been out all year until today) to come in and help with rebounding and rim protection. I gave and give UK all the credit.
If you're referring to my post, I said in my the paragraph that I was referring to all the podcasts I have seen since the game, not you.

If you weren't referring to my post… carry on.

POLITICAL THREAD

Welp, I usually just read and "lurk" on the PF, but since I posted on election night, ( TRUMP FOR THE WIN BABY!!), I decided I was going to read every post since that night and get "caught up". I JUST now am up to speed, lol.

I'm shocked Nightwish hasn't returned to take his medicine, shocked I tell ya.

What's happening in Bucks County PA. is exactly what the Dems did in 2020, only now they're just doing it out in the open. Hopefully the AG there does the right thing and prosecutes the lot of them.

Damn, I try to find the good in others, but it's hopeless; I hate liberals and everything they stand for. They truly are anti-American.

I'm Just So Damnn Mad.

Admittedly, I only watched about ten minutes of BYU’s game in the NCAAT when Pope was hired so I was not aware of that. But it didn’t seem like we played the offense through Williams the first two games and it seemed to flow better. But it’s early and Pope is batting .1000 so I will defer to him lol.
I think we should give a lot of credit to duke's defense. That team is massive and ultra athletic. They defended beyond the 3 point line and took our potent 3 point shooting game away.
Sheyer had a great gameplan and he has the horses to pull it off, but Pope still found a way to win the game through unorthodox methods. Seemed like he did something different on each offensive possession.
