That we don't have a game this weekend.
Williams will be at the top of the key leading the offense all year. Go look at Pope Teams. That is how it works.Hopefully no more Amari Williams at the top of the key leading the offense.

So the 3-6 Cats taking on 1-9 Murray State on the football field doesn’t get your juices flowing?
He just needs to develop his reads and make the efficient play! It also requires the entire team making the same play/reads. It'll come with practice. Also if he could develop his low post going to his right hand, it will be a game changer!Williams will be at the top of the key leading the offense all year. Go look at Pope Teams. That is how it works.
Instead of top of the key, Williams is better when he can get the ball in the lane, pivot, and find an open shooter among the 4 guys screening and cutting to get open. Zac Edey was great at this.Williams will be at the top of the key leading the offense all year. Go look at Pope Teams. That is how it works.

Turn in your fan card dude.Lmao I know it's not the correct thing to say but would absolutely love if the Racers beat UK just to put the final nail in Stoops coffin.
But yes should be an easy W for our bottom of the barrel football club.
Turn in your fan card dude.
You’re going to have a disappointing year, lolHopefully no more Amari Williams at the top of the key leading the offense.
Why?Hopefully no more Amari Williams at the top of the key leading the offense.
When Pope is due for a contract extension, someone needs to take the pen and keyboard away from MB.Barnhardt looks like he hit a home run with Pope. But those long term contracts he did for Stoops and Cal, at least Cal did a good thing and switched schools, looks like Stoops is gonna drink and play golf and sub perform here for years.
What you’re seeing is a pro style offenseHopefully no more Amari Williams at the top of the key leading the offense.
Human nature for folks is to love winners and hate losers. The only winner we have REALLY EVER had is our basketball program. It is easy to say, "I don't care about the losing football team, but love me some winning basketball." Most of our basketball only fans would love to have a winning football program. Problem is, our University leaders don't seem to care as much about football either. As good as our basketball history is, it still does not pay the athletic department bills. Football does and always will. If we ever had a basketball coach with a losing rcord over any three year timeframe, they would be fired. Why not the same rules for football, especially how important football is for the entire sports budget. Am I wrong in this line of thinking?Basketball only fans suck. I’ll never understand those who revel in trashing the football program.
I forgot we even had a football game lolSo the 3-6 Cats taking on 1-9 Murray State on the football field doesn’t get your juices flowing?
Does not matter. The offense is what it is. It is a 5 out offense. Cutting and such to create open shots or layups.Instead of top of the key, Williams is better when he can get the ball in the lane, pivot, and find an open shooter among the 4 guys screening and cutting to get open. Zac Edey was great at this.
Maybe Duke's defense was just that good but our offense seemed stagnant with a big guy running our offense. Why?
That's one of the many things that makes Pope's offense so hard to guard. Amari is a very good passer and him being up top drags his defender away from the basket. We got some back-cut baskets by doing that.
When Amari is top of the key, there is less room for 3 point shooters and bad passing angles. He needs to step in 6 feet.Does not matter. The offense is what it is. It is a 5 out offense. Cutting and such to create open shots or layups.
I think we have to be fair here and give Pope some time to develop the action.Maybe Duke's defense was just that good but our offense seemed stagnant with a big guy running our offense.
Totally fair. I’m as impressed with Pope as anyone so far. Guy is batting a .1000.I think we have to be fair here and give Pope some time to develop the action.
Heck, this team is WAY ahead of where everyone expected them to be.
Oh man, I've about thrown my arm out from all the fist pumps I've been doing since the win over duke.Totally fair. I’m as impressed with Pope as anyone so far. Guy is batting a .1000.
You need to watch BYU film from last year. The center is often the initiator of the offense. UK is not yet running the offense as efficiently as BYU but you should see much improvement each game.Hopefully no more Amari Williams at the top of the key leading the offense.
Admittedly, I only watched about ten minutes of BYU’s game in the NCAAT when Pope was hired so I was not aware of that. But it didn’t seem like we played the offense through Williams the first two games and it seemed to flow better. But it’s early and Pope is batting .1000 so I will defer to him lol.You need to watch BYU film from last year. The center is often the initiator of the offense. I think we should give a lot of credit to duke's defense. That team is massive and ultra athletic. They defended beyond the 3 point line and took our potent 3 point shooting game away.Admittedly, I only watched about ten minutes of BYU’s game in the NCAAT when Pope was hired so I was not aware of that. I won't argue there are some things to improve from that game, but I think you may not be giving Duke enough credit. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, but I think Duke is legit, and their defense is very good. They will take things away from every team they play this season, and their talent is also better than ours.Heck I am glad they have a week to work on stuff. There was a lot of bad in the first half and mostly was our own fault. Duke took away what we wanted to do, UK had worked with the guys on what to do and they did not for the most part follow through. Pope has to be excited to pick up the W, have a week to work on stuff while it is fresh in their memory. The teaching this week in not just for Lipscomb but for the rest of the season. SEC teams will try junk defenses, thug ball, all kinds of tactics to try to pull out a W. This is the perfect time to reflect, look in the mirror and understand a possession or two a game is not bad to stall, but you have to figure things out quickly, implement plan B, follow it hard, play harder than the other guys and get the game back under control early.
I agree, Dook is really good, and by end of year could be heading towards great team this year. Thing is in the first half we decided to take it. I think Pope tried to get them to understand but decided to keep it as close as possible to get with them at half. That is what Pope will work on. Dook will do the same but with the 2nd half. Jon will show them the 2nd half for a while to get his points drilled into their heads.I won't argue there are some things to improve from that game, but I think you may not be giving Duke enough credit. But I do agree, and I'm certain Pope agrees as well and will use the time wisely, we should watch that video and study what we did poorly and learn from our mistakes.
But I must add- winning that game, against a team I think is legitimately a top 5 team, on our 3rd game as a unit, is very impressive and I couldn't be happier about where this team is right now.
