Would you obey a mask mandate?

Well...would you or no?
No but I have restricted breathing already, they can't make me wear a mask, its dangerous. Here in Georgia this issue is getting interesting. The governor made an order that encouraged wearing masks but did not require them. He also ordered local authorities to not exceed the restrictions he put in place. However, several cities have now made wearing a mask mandatory with 500 fines. I'm curious how this will work out.

I never compared killing babies and wearing a mask. I compared government authority to dictate what people can do with their own bodies in each case. The government either has authority, or it does not. I like consistency in people’s point of view.
Right, but controlling murder is different than controlling a preventive measure.

Why is this so hard...jesus
Why? Because every expert has talked out of both sides of their mouth over the past 4 months. Not to mention the sudden change in "study" findings. It's curious that studies from before this "pandemic" concluded the uselessness of these type masks and surgical masks in protecting the wearer and others from infectious diseases. Somehow, some way, the "experts" seem to follow the political winds. They are no longer trusted is the short answer of why this is so hard. There is ample reason not to trust them not to mention the basic American value of self determination and responsibility.

Absolutely. Since mid-March, I've pretty much only gone out for groceries and I've always worn a mask.

I didn't read the rest of the thread before replying. Time for some fun, probably. XD

Not to mention, the health leaders of several European countries, including Norway and Denmark, do not recommend wearing masks. If there is no scientific consensus, why should either position be blindly accepted?

As for our own experts, I fail to understand how they weren't telling us to "mask up" back in March. Yes, this is a "novel virus", but respiratory, contagious, and airborne viruses have been with us throughout humanity. The experts should already have had a consensus months ago. That, at least in America, it seems to happening just a few weeks ago is suspicious.

You said Hopkinsville had an outbreak in a church. You didn't realize Hopkinsville wasn't in Hopkins County.

I know which county Hopkinsville is in, I grew up a half hour from there. There was an outbreak in Christian County right after the SEC tournament. It was one of the hardest hit counties early on.

There was no need to change the guidelines if you're doing what they told you from day one it's going to be hard to get the virus mask or no mask. Concur the basics before you pretend to panic about what others are doing.

*People at high risk should not be out of the house or around others. A mask does not nullify that requirement.

*Stay away from people who are visibly sick/sneezing/coughing. More than 6 feet, there is no reason to be anywhere near that close to someone you don't know.

*Wash your hands, or use sanitizer after you've come in contact with items everyone else is touching too.

*Do not get in large crowds, a mask, or any amount of soap will protect you from any virus if you are in a crowd.

For a mask to be effective you would have to wear it without ever taking it off without sanitizing it and everything you have touched 100% of the times you touch it.

Good news!

There has been no outbreak in a church in Christian County.

You are dead wrong. This is factually incorrect.

When do we stop wearing them? What if there’s never a vaccine, we just wear them forever?
It’s insane, it’s been turned into a political football. The CDC was against them, and then it got political.
I don’t mind wearing one, if the data shows it will make a difference, but it doesn’t. LA has had a mandatory mask mandate for months, and their cases are rising, while deaths have dropped.
If you want to wear one wear it, if you as a business owner want to make them mandatory go for it, but this blanket mandate from a scared governor playing politics is bullshit.
It will stop after November. I don't wear one anywhere not required and when required while I was working I did not wear it most of the time. Only when coming in the building because the mask Nazi's were checking as you came in. Took it off after passing them and generally kept it off. On occasion someone would say put it on when I walked the halls and I would simply look at them and say I left it at my desk which I actually did, on purpose. After a while they just gave up as more and more people did the same.

You are correct. Christian County did not experience a larger outbreak than any other county, per capita

Christian county was one of the 5 hotspot counties early on.
Which was the reason they went out and got their own tests.

If you don't wear a mask if required then you are kind of a dick. Whether they are effective or not is one thing but they make people feel better.

I, for one, am relieved. It’s just a shame that it has to be mandated to anyone to do the right thing and protect themselves as well as others. We have become a sad society that shows no caring or compassion to our neighbors. We are so divided by politics that we are blinded from common sense.

Making people feel better is not the order of the day though. Unfortunately this whole thing is political now. Enforcing on law abiding citizens but not those who gather in large groups to break the law and beat people up is defeating the idea. When you say large gatherings such as church, rallies, beaches, sporting events, etc... are bad then in the next breath say that protesting is OK, gives people a reason to question the validity of the reason for it.

Because it’s unnecessary and the CDC says if you aren’t symptomatic and are healthy they aren’t recommended.

I will wear one if mandated, no need to create a difficult situation for a business that is simply complying with an incompetent governors action.
This is untrue. Look at cdc.gov, not facebook. CDC absolutely recommends masks, even if asymptomatic.

No. Masks are a sign of weakness.
If you were in combat, would you consider ducking bullets whizzing by you as a sign of weakness?
Macho attitude is overrated. Attitude will never stop an adverse you can't beat by being brave.
Be smart and listen to those that most probably knows what will happen if you don't.

The Judge stated that, in order to issue and enforce executive orders related to COVID-19, the Governor must specify the state of emergency that requires the executive order, the location of the emergency, and the name of the local emergency management agency that has determined that the emergency is beyond its capabilities.

“The Governor cannot issue broad, arbitrary executive orders apart from the requirements of state law, and the Judge agreed by today issuing a statewide temporary restraining order”
Sue him then.

There are multiple and I mean multiple MDs on YouTube coming out about wearing masks. They mention many reasons not to, one common one is it compromises the immune system of other wise healthy adults.
My doctor, who I know is a real doctor and I pay her for her services, says to put one on every time I leave my home. I can find fakes and fringe weirdos galore and their advice is free, for good reason. I can't take any of these social media clips seriously.

It’s stupid, but if you don’t play by the rules, gfy. Otherwise this stuff lasts WAY longer than it needs to. In Key West, service industry has to wear them all day in the blazing sun, so you can put it on for the 12 seconds it takes you to be at the table. Just be an adult and play by the rules for a few more months.

Nope...

I don't even have one.

I ALSO don't:

Sneeze on people, cough in their vicinity, handle items at the store that I don't intend to buy, get closer than 6 feet from fellow shoppers, etc. etc. etc.

I DO: wash my hands, carry hand sanitizer, AND, think for myself.

There will be less posters here before this virus stuff is over. There will be posters that will say they were wrong in their believe on their immunity from family deaths.
