Would you obey a mask mandate?

I tried a little rattle can spray painting outside while wearing a Covid clothe mask. I hate breathing paint and I usually wear an N-95, but didn't have one. Anyway, I'm now sick from breathing paint. At least my face didn't get painted.

Some people believe seeing the sun rise and trees being green means god, without a doubt, exists. Remember those days of our chats on here with regards to that kind of replicated anecdotal evidence? I do! :)
Of course I remember.

I started back at my part time job today after being furloughed (again). Was told that I could refuse service to people if they weren't wearing a mask. I chose not to. Just not worth the headache (I've seen the videos). But I can count on one hand the amount of people that came in without a mask.

I have a question. Where were all of these anti maskers when stores required people to wear shoes?

Where was the outcry of Infringement on freedom? Where were the guys in body armor?

They require the shoes to prevent the spread of dirt and disease.
Most of us are fine with whatever rules an individual business wants to put in place. We don't like the government issuing mandates forcing them to do it. Last time I checked, the government hasn't issued any shoe wearing mandates. Nice try.

It's not about the kids getting sick, it's about them bringing it home to the older folks, or those with compromised immune systems. I think this has been made pretty clear everywhere, so the fact that people here keep pounding on "but kids aren't at risk!!" just shows they are essentially playing fingers-in-the-ears ah-la-la-la-la.

My wife and I have no choice but to have kids go back to school. What are people that work supposed to do if they have to do another round of home schooling - quit their jobs and do it for free? But then again, all I see on this forum and in other social media commentary are "GET BACK TO SCHOOL!!!" "THERE'S NO RISK!"" "NAZI COMMIES COMING AFTER MY FREEDOMS BY GOD!!"". Instead, how about offering SOLUTIONS, and I don't mean the "herd immunity" - throw them out there and we'll see how we all fare - that's the lazy way out. I mean real solutions. This "my side vs. that side" sh*t is tiring. Politics - tiring. No one working together for a common national solution - TIRING. Reading this thread full of some of the most inconsiderate, ignorant, billy bad ass commentary - TIRING!

The issue I have is that the same morons barking all this "get 'em back to school" and "herd immunity!" are the same ones pushing back against something as damned simple as wearing a f*cking mask. Just get back at it - the lazy way - no extra effort desired or required (lazy). "I ain't gonna get it (because you know no one that has it and don't believe people here when they say they know 12+ people that have had it, died, may die, or have recovered). It's all gonna go away come November! Masks are takin' away my core freedoms!" Some of the most idiotic takes I've ever seen on any subject, ever, have been laid forth on the Paddock and social media over the last few months.

Anyone actually agree with these viral videos lately of stupid people getting into arguments with shop owners over wearing a mask? When I see them, I feel embarrassed that they're my fellow Americans. And now some of these idiots are filming themselves acting like complete, classless morons. Why? Hoping they'll get retweeted by the President and get their 15 seconds of fame? I simply can't understand how we got where we are today - a country of inconsiderate, empty-brained cow asses that for whatever reason can't think for themselves and rely on social media memes and other media talking heads to form their opinions for them. And this goes for BOTH sides. The people that want us to just go back to normal and are fighting tooth and nail against something as silly as a mask, and the people fighting like hell to shut down the world and sit on our asses in our homes until it all goes away. Neither are middle ground, but both are all we hear.

I don't have a solution for it all. But I do wear a mask, even if it protects by 50% and makes others feel comfortable (I just wore a mask for 24 hours on planes to/from Paris this past two weeks. And I do stay the hell away from people, as much as I can. And I do want kids back in school, simply because we can't afford to go to a one-income family (who can these days?) to accommodate kids home schooling. So how about the politicians dump the divisive rhetoric - starting with our own citizens - and sit down in a damned room and come to a BIPARTISAN agreement on how to solve this as a nation. Why is this so hard?? Why is this so TIRING?
Do you not realize how hypocritical and self righteous you sound? You say we should work together to combat this crisis , yet in one post you've called those that disagree with you enough vulgar names to make a sailor blush. Look in a damn mirror dude. If you want people to take you serious, you might have more luck if you stop calling them morons right off the bat.

Not sure you speak for “most of us”. Not sure who “is” is, but I hear about a lot of nastiness, trump Ben refusal to comply and just barging past employees when it is not a law. Then the same folks complain when it is a law, and usually ignore it any way. I don’t think it’s a noble attempt at preserving some dwindling patriotic freedom.

Funny how we point at people for not following the law and call the “law breakers”. Then the same folks ignore a law we don’t like and call it “justice”.

do these people protest the government “forcing” people to wear pants? That’s a law.

If you don't know the difference between wearing pants that cover up genitals so they aren't on public display and wearing a mask that causes you to breathe in your own C02, you aren't worth debating with.

Oh, OK. Wearing a mask Causes you to breathe your own CO2. So you are worried about asphyxiation. So it is a health and safety concern, not a governmental over reach or for your freedom.

I am very confident if you wear the mask correctly, and not too tight, the CO2 levels are safe.

Wow. That was a complete 180...

“If we all don’t wear masks, we’ll get shut down again.”

How about we recall our dipshit incompetent governor instead and avoid a shutdown?

Beshear either completely misunderstands the bullshit numbers he keeps touting, especially regarding kids, or he’s intentionally trying to keep the KY economy suppressed for whatever reason. Either way, he’s at the top five of worst governors in the nation.

we are not a “recall state”. Stuck with him for 3+ more years.

and the Supreme Court is going to uphold his authority. The Kentucky constitution gives The governor unparalleled power when the legislature isn’t in session. It sucks, but it’s true.

Down here, Texas is shutting back down too. So are other states. Many Red states this time. You have a chance to vote for a new governor in a short few years. That’s the beauty of democracy.

Have a chance to move to a state that isn’t run by a totally incompetent dipshit, too. Beauty of the republic.

Two things can be true at once. It's government over reach AND it's a health concern. The fact that it's a health concern is one reason why I feel like it's government over reach. There are plenty of experts who suggest that it's not good for a healthy person to wear a mask all day long. What we have now is one man(the governor) forcing everyone who works for a business to do so.

In certain states you’re allowed to shoot pro-maskers if they encroach or threaten you

Anti-maskers. Conceal and carry. Don’t let these nut jobs and whackos stop you from freedom

Wow. Just wow.

And why does everything have to end in either implied to actual gun violence?

Serious question. Why not the same reaction to pants? Or drunk driving? Are you angry that the government tries to tell you that you shouldn’t drink and drive? Should we shoot people that want to stop you from that?

you sound a lot like the violent protesters that you proclaim to hate.

Maybe South Dakota. Likely Ohio as I’d only have to move 1 mile (assuming Dewine pulls his head out of his ass (or the legislature pulls it out for him)).
Careful in Ohio. They aren’t wearing masks there and cases are exploding.

governor is considering requiring masks there too. Also, it’s a pandemic. So if it isn’t in South Dakota (because no one goes there) it will be there too. So don’t unpack.

Stay safe, and stay healthy.

Who was railing against the “slippery slope“ argument?

Here we have a poster arguing, “well you’re OK with these restrictions, so you should be OK with more restrictions.”

Quite literally slipping down the slope, and a prime example of why people shouldn’t accept arbitrary creeping restrictions on their rights.

Ohio is fine. Most businesses are requiring masks (under dewines edict which is as dumb as Beshear’s). I’ve been in the office every day since this bullshit started, have gotten plenty of take out and been to plenty of restaurants.

Focusing on cases is dumb. There’s a reason they gaslit you into thinking cases were the problem, not actual deaths, once testing skyrocketed.

If you’re scared of catching a cold, just stay inside. The rest of us can continue managing our own lives without Beshear’s input.

Yes. Wearing masks to prevent the spread of infectious disease in the face of an actual global pandemic is a slippery slope.

it’s funny that people think we have to choose between health and economy.

we can protect both if we just wear a mask in tight quarters, stay a few feet apart, and each your hands.

If you don’t do those things, you are intentionally hurting our economy. You are causing the disease the spread, and businesses will shut back down. Even voluntarily.

Don’t think for 5 seconds that the mask debate is about freedom or slippery slopes. No offense to those that do, but the argument is dumber than a box of rocks.

No offense taken. You’re literally arguing your way down the slope claiming people already accept certain restrictions so they should accept more. Obviously you don’t understand.

What other deadly pan/epidemics should we accept arbitrary mandates for? Obesity? Opioids? The flu?

COVID didn’t shut down the economies of various states, governors did. Masks can’t protect us from incompetent governors. And for as long as people can vote, we’ll continue having incompetent elected officials. I’d prefer the governor of KY not issue arbitrary edicts with which the citizenry must comply, or arbitrarily have their college football season threatened.

I’ll say this. Nov 3rd can’t get here soon enough.

I waffle back and forth on what will be worse from a COVID standpoint. Initially I thought the hysteria would end of Biden was elected. But as time goes on and more and more people jump on the “comply with the arbitrary mandates or accept your punishment bandwagon,” I suspect they’ll double down if Biden is elected. Trump can’t be impeached over COVID so I suspect it will go away if he’s elected.

" Go away" like Trump said it would?

Don’t forget, the same incompetent assclown that is telling you you can’t have football if you don’t obey his mask orders is the same incompetent assclown that stopped processing unemployment claims because he couldn’t believe a guy named Tupac lived in KY.

So when he shuts things back down, blame his never ending incompetence, not me.

Did you see the $7.6 million dollar contract to E&Y to help with the processing backlog for a month?
