Wimsatt to Rutgers???

Wiltfong def can be wrong. The UK publisher changed his to Rutgers and 65% on this site including Ferrell are now predicting he goes there.
Yeah, I just now saw that and was about to post the same thing on this thread.

I'll be disappointed if he goes elsewhere but I'm certainly not going to hate on the young man if he does. It's not like he's been playing the staff and stringing the process out, etc. Also, if he does goes to Rutgers, at least it's not U6, IU or one of our conference rivals.

Not looking too good for the top 3 prospects in KY, and I thought this year was the year we were going to sweep the state. Oh well, just goes to show you how finicky recruiting can be...

RU fan here, from all we are hearing Brown 4* rb is set to commit to us this week and then Wimsatt is that close too. Gs and company have hit a hr this year in recruiting. Playing time is wide open here and Wimsatt could start from day 1.
Suspected that's what they're selling and that's OK. Kids want to play early.

Getting HS quarterbacks isn’t nearly the priority it once was imo. There will always be talented quarterbacks in the transfer pool looking for a place they will be needed. ESPECIALLY if we are running an NFL, quarterback friendly offense.

Yep, most are coming expecting to start by year 2 if not earlier and be hitting the portal, Mac Jones was an exception and honestly turned out much better than I thought he would. But when the rule passes of one free transfer, which will likely progress to as many as you want in a few years, it is likely to get quite a bit worse as far as keep good depth at QB. UGA will very likely lose one to the portal after next season, the QB in the 20 class, or the QB in the 21 class. Which ever one loses the battle to be the top backup after Daniels.

appreciate that. I hadn't kept up with all the other predictions getting logged. I can't imagine it's very often Wilftong and Farrell are both wrong.

One analyst said he took an unofficial visit/ self guided tour and it looks like a decision will be soon

Yes he and his family paid their way to visit. Self guided tour. Apparently mom loved the visit. Gavin and folks really hit it off with the coaching staff. Also another tidbit I heard was that mom didn't like the fact that UK was badmouthing RU and Cincy. Take that with a grain of salt.

Who is badmouthing RU And Cincy? Fans or staff?

If his Mom is that thin skinned she will probably get her feelings hurt wherever he goes to play.
Fans can get pretty rough, especially on the quarterback.

Or, she could send him here where he could be the backup qb and become the greatest qb in the history of backup qbs.

We love our backups.

That’s because Rutgers grads stay on the East Coast where salaries are adjusted higher based on cost of living

Not really true. RU alum are all over the country and the world. Sending you this message from Bangkok where I live and work. Prior to this I was in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for four years.
I have nothing against UK (except Calipari) as my youngest daughter is a UK grad.
C-A-T-S CATS!! CATS!! CATS!!

Since Schiano came back he and the staff he put together have done a unbelievable job. We were the worst P5 program in the nation in 2018 and 2019. Two years ago we lost to Kansas 55-14 and it wasn't that close.
We were competitive last year and look to be bowl bound in 2021. Maybe the Music City Bowl vs. Kentucky?

Welcome to the board!

I did check the Rutgers alumni section. it says out of the 530,000 alum of RU, 250,000 plus live in NJ.

With the multiple campuses (Aside from NB), RU is also in Newark and Camden. I’d venture to say the Delaware Valley and NYC attract a lot of former students

Well that would be a new development with our staff then. I remember years ago Marrow was commenting on how certain schools (referring to UL and UT) would negatively recruit against us but he said we didn't recruit that way and it worked in our favor more times than not.
Was going to post the same things. They commented about it with the Watkins kid from Louisville. This is a non story IMO.

If the NCAA opens recruiting visits back up this summer, things could change a lot. I think this staff really tries to sell the family atmosphere, a little tougher to do on a computer.

A friend was on a plane this past week. Boarding the plane, they were told to space. On the plane, every seat was filled. The idea that the NCAA has not opened on campus visits is crap and really hurts the regional recruiting school more than the national recruiter.

Have heard the same thing a couple of times now. Masks were worn but the planes were pretty full.

Why in the world would Rutgers fans create an account on a KY message board, just because they're getting a KY player? Don't they have a board for Rutgers fans somewhere?

As to the QB in question, personally, I've had my fill of dual threat QBs. That's not where the college game seems to be trending.

Using that logic why not Vandy, Stanford, Northwestern, etc...why you'd go to freaking 10 hours away from home to play for a team that outside of 2 year stint under Schiano 15 years ago....nobody has ever remembered a Rutgers football moment is head scratching if that pans out

I didn't even know Rutgers had a football team. 🤷‍♂️

Unlike many other Rivals team boards, the UK Wildcat Lair board is free to pretty much anybody with a Rivals account in good standing to come in and post. The Florida site has a similar board with open access but is for all Gator sports and has less traffic than our FB board.

I have to admit, out of curiousity, Gavin Wimsatt's recent leaning to Rutgers inspired me to go to their board for the first time ever. Basically, on what appears to be their "free" board, non-Rutgers people can view but not post.
